Accompanied by melodious flute and soulful drumming, she tapped into European hearts and walked her way — barefoot — to victory at Eurovision 2013 with “Only Teardrops”.

And this week, Danish singer-songwriter Emmelie de Forest announced her comeback, with an EP set to be released this October. We haven’t heard from the rainmaker since 2015, and we’re ready for a musical downpour!

How You can Help

An important factor behind this early announcement is that Emmelie needs your help to make the EP a reality. Producing, mixing, and mastering tracks with high standards is expensive, y’all, and this Eurovision victor isn’t one to cut corners.

Instead, Emmelie is making use of PledgeMusic’s interactive platform, where she’s offering exclusive merchandise, memorabilia, and even customized music. With items ranging from €8 to €1,000, it’s possible for anyone to contribute and become a part of her journey.

Visit her pledge page to make a donation and get this EP on its feet! In return you’ll get the EP before anyone else and, depending on your donation, you can also get your hands on an original “Only Teardrops” flute, have a cameo in her next music video and even book Emmelie and her guitarist for a 30-minute concert at your house. Unfortunately, her Eurovision trophy is not up for sale. Apparently it’s priceless.

Crowdfunding: Does it Work?

De Forest joins the ever-growing list of Eurovision participants who have turned to crowdfunding campaigns to finance their subsequent albums. The real question is, will it work?

Just after Eurovision 2015, Electro Velvet duo Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas ran a similar campaign for an EP they planned to release. Two months later, though, they called it off, stating that they needed some time to work separately first.

Still, the idea stuck. Alex began to crowdfund on his own, and went on to raise 109% of his goal.

Then, in early 2016, Lithuanian musician and Eurovision 2013 representative Andrius Pojavis created a Kickstarter page to raise funds for his second album, “Seven”. Nearly identically to Alex Larke, Pojavis went on to raise 112% of his goal.

So the odds look undoubtedly in Emmelie’s favor. If she can connect with her widespread fan base as much as Alex or Andrius did, it should be no time before the EP gets recorded, produced and shipped. Sign us up!

What do you think about Emmelie de Forest’s crowdfunding campaign? Will you donate? What do you hope to hear on her upcoming EP? Let us know in the comments section below, or by using the wiwibloggs app!

To be fair she did help write UK Lucie Jones’ song entry this year so I think we owe her something 😉

Lol that’s isn’t really something to be proud of. She peaked at like what, 20? That’s all she’ll ever be

She should change this awful, awful hairstyle. That blonde look from 2013 suited her the best…

I agree. She’s much better as a blonde.

Going to be a bit frank here.

It’s a bit sh*t you are promoting Emmilie’s pledge music campaign and didn’t think about supporting the Formerly of Bucks Fizz aka The Fizz (Cheryl, Mike, Jay from the original line up and Bobby McVay of Sweet Dreams uk 1983).

It’s easier for the likes of Emmilie to get a record deal whereas people like The Fizz find it harder these days.

If you are going to promote one….promote them all!

#justsaying

FYI, here is the link for the successful pledgemusic campaign from The Fizz.

Yeah, how awful of them to take the time to write about a former Eurovision winner who wrote the UK song in 2017. But you know what’s worse? For someone like you to come and then curse them for helping out an artist who, frankly, is way more relevant than the people you’re naming. RUDE. And PS it’s unrealistic to promote everyone all the time. If you’re a sign of the Bucks Fizz fandom then I don’t blame the site for neglecting it. BYE

Oh such harsh words. I think if they are promoting one Eurovision pledge campaign then they should promote one from legendary winners also.

End of!

I have to agree slightly. I sometimes think WiWi bloggs is just about the contributors writing about the stuff that personally interests them rather than about Eurovision as a whole – thus you never get any articles about Eurovision pre nougties as all the writers are Milleniums.

totally agree. When Emmilie reaches superstardom like The Fizz did, I’ll appreciate her more. At the moment, she is a one trick pony, with an interval act and a song written for another artist that finished right hand side of the table.

I don’t understand why she won, I prefer Norway or even Ukraine.

She had been planned for victory ever since her selection in January 2013. She got signed to a huge label, got extensive promotion on every platform (I didn’t follow the Eurovision as closely back then and her song was getting spammed all the time on YouTube – it was the only song I knew before the final). Also, the fact that EBU won’t release the full split results from 2013 makes me think Ukraine won the televote.

Hi, osterrieich and polegend I believe that too I think either the top five in the the televote were
1-Ukraine
2-Azerbaijan
3-Norway
4-Russia
5-Denmark
And I also believe that Denmark may not have really won it. And maybe the danish broadcaster paid for the win?
I think the real top 5 with combined results (jury+televoting) would have been=
1-Ukraine
2-Azerbaijan
3-Norway
4-Denmark
5-Russia
So I think it should have been KYIV2014

Unfortunately, this reminds me of the below video from two years ago. (Regardless of what success she may or may not have had since then, I still love her music. And she will always hold a spot in my heart for introducing this naive American to Eurovision.)

Poor soul seems a lot less successful than the other recent winners- Helena won 12 years ago and she’s still a huge deal in the Greek music scene where she regularly charts…maybe she should just stick to songwriting.

Scandinavia might have a lot of Eurovision winners, but they struggle to remain mainstream and producing hits. You can add their last four winners to the list (five with Azerbaijan).
God save the Lenas.

Sorry, but why crowdfunding??? Just go find yourself a job and go working… so in a few months you will have enough money for yourself. It is just so simple. Go try it Emmelie!!! Seems like winning Eurovision does not make a lot of money (except you are ABBA or Celine Dion).

(Correct place for this comment) And Salvador Sobral, all the concerts of 2017 sold out and always in a few hours … His album totally sold, the songs in the tops and the phenomenon has now begun. People discover that he is a genius of the interpretation.

Usually the year after ESC the winner sees incredible success (Loreen Toured in China and around Europe, Jamala with Billboard stories, Mans Hosting the following ESC (helping even 2017 in some capacity), etc.) but sometimes it means that they fizzle in the long run for an international career. Although there is chance to be a big name in the country of origin (Dima for Russia).
