In May he took Bulgaria to its best-ever finish at the Eurovision Song Contest, climbing all the way to second place with his contemporary track “Beautiful Mess”.
And on Monday Kristian Kostov proved he’s got plenty of music still in him with the release of his cover of Rag’n’Bone Man’s “Human”.
“It’s such an awesome day today, since I will be releasing my long-awaited first cover this year on my YouTube channel!” he wrote on Instagram, before asking his fans to subscribe to his YouTube channel KrisKostov. After listening to this we just have three words: “Sign us up!”

Kristian, 17, has a deep and resonant singing voice that belies his 17 years.
And he puts it to good use on this soulful track, which shows off his ability to emote and to take a global hit and make it his own.
As we saw repeatedly along the Eurovision 2017 campaign trail, he speaks flawless English — and that clarity of expression continues in this English-language song.
Kris, who worked monochrome colours on stage at Eurovision, does so again in this video cover, wearing black denim trousers, a black shirt, and a black and white jacket with printed vistas of palm trees.
(Some of you may be asking whether he covered the song better than HOVIG — we couldn’t possibly comment).
“Human” isn’t the only cover young Kristian has turned to in recent weeks.
On June 1 he uploaded a video of him tackling the Henry Mancini classic “Moon River” at the Jazz Port music festival.
The song, composed by Henry Mancini, was made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Some of you may also recognise it from the the HBO series Sex and the City, where it was used to great effect in multiple episodes — including a romantic dancing scene between Carrie and Big.
“Go and watch my new video #moonriver on #youtube,” Kristian asked his fans on the big day. “And let’s make 50,000 subscribers! I know you can!”
Oh yes they can!
Six weeks later Kristian has more than 119,000 subscribers on his channel, where he posts covers, Q&As and challenges with friends. Surely 200,000 isn’t far off.

cool covers… Next I want to hear… Michael Jackson ?
Why does Rag’n’Bone man sing with an American accent? He’s from Uckfield, for christ’s sake.
If this is him right now, I can’t wait to see him after he goes to Berklee…
Very talented guy! He seems to be really nice too.
Amazing as always! 🙂
