In our latest interview with Sergey Lazarev, conducted last weekend at Zhara Fest in Azerbaijan, the Russian pop star revealed that he hasn’t decided whether to return to Eurovision next year.

Regardless of what he decides, we don’t have to wait until the spring to hear new music from Sergey, as he’s poised to release a new single from his upcoming album every three to four weeks.

The first track, entitled “Tak Krasivo” (So beautiful), leaked on Thursday — one day before its scheduled release date. It delivers a fresh, laid-back sound and some pretty touching lyrics.

The leak, while annoying to Sergey’s team and to fans who had marked the date on their calendars, doesn’t take away from the song’s success. Just a few hours after the official release the single reached number one on the Russian iTunes chart — even moving past the international pop hit “Despacito”.

Sergey has said that the style of the song is indeed something new for him. “I’m glad that many people did not recognize me,” he wrote on Instagram. “For many of you this track is unfamiliar, uncomfortable. It’s a thrill! So I’ve achieved my goal! I’m growing, developing, and I can still surprise you!”

Yes he can. Although “Tak Krasivo” is focused on the most popular topic in pop — love — the lyrics are very personal. The singer describes his newest track as honest, atmospheric and emotional. Even though he sings quietly, the feelings and emotions he emits let off their own fearsome roar. It’s a great way to touch listeners’ hearts.

A few days ago, shortly after Zhara Fest came to an end in Baku, Sergey and Eurovision 2008 winner Dima Bilan headed to Portugal. The guys have been shooting a music video for their recent collaboration “Prosti menya” (Forgive me) and had to film a few final scenes. A video with both of these Russian legends? Yassss!

We’ve translated the Russian lyrics of “Tak Krasivo” into English below. You need to feel the vibe of this.

Sergey Lazarev – “Tak Krasivo” (So beautiful) lyrics

First verse:
Your love was making sounds
Similar to the sound of the ocean.
Your love was giving hands
To heal wounds with them.
Your love was cuddling.
So quietly and was not letting go.
Your love was returning me to the childhood.
It gifted everything that was missing.

Refrain:
Your love, it is so beautiful.
Your love is the power of these beats.
Your love is only my luminary.
Your love, it is so beautiful.
Your love, it is so beautiful.
Your love is the power of these beats.
Your love was driving me crazy.
But your love, it is so beautiful.

Second verse:
Your love was letting me come closer.
It was forgiving shouts, it was being annoying.
It was forgiving pain, appreciating the risks.
Your love was making peace inside me.
Your love, while touching the body
Changed the time to the smell of the skin.
Your love was becoming the whole
Out of the two parts that are so different.

Refrain:
Your love, it is so beautiful.
Your love is the power of these beats.
Your love is only my luminary.
Your love, it is so beautiful.
Your love, it is so beautiful.
Your love is the power of these beats.
Your love was driving me crazy.
But your love, it is so beautiful.

we’re sort of bored with the news about Russian cheap music. Salvador Sobral was so right about “fast-food music” at the contest. But Lazarev’s stuff is not even fast-food, it’s a type of a chewing gum, of which you dispose after several minutes.

You have right on your opinion, but sometimes when you have nothing positive and nice to say, except bad and negative things, it is better to keep your opinion to yourself. It is not necessary insult someone just because you do not like his musical style. Here, i will tell you some positive facts about him. Sergey has hundreds of concerts a year, not only in Russia. I was at his concerts during his tour called “The best”. He is a real singer because he always sings live on his concerts, and he can sing live. At concert he always… Read more »

I know Lazarev’s stuff pretty well. Well, he’s nothing out of extraordinary, cheap tunes, cheap songs. He’s not gonna make it to European or world music.

Hey Wiwi team, why not an article about the new song from Lara Fabian (Luxembourg 1988 – the year Céline Dion won) called Growing wings and her new English album to be released in October called Camouflage? She’s also planning a world tour for 2018. Thanks!

At least it’s something different and unexpected. I’m glad he’s experimenting with styles. This song is beautiful. Despite the calmness of the words, there are strong feelings inside there. Truly mesmerizing!

He clearly tries to copy Bilan but with a song that Bilan would never sing

This song was done in collaboration with Anton Shaplin, the same music producer who works with Bilan.
