She’s Malta’s biggest star and Eurovision queen, he’s a singing Maltese-Australian priest. Together they are making music. Ira Losco has lived up to her reputation as a musical chameleon with the release of “Dominoes” — her collaboration with the rising Maltese artist and priest Father Rob Galea.

Ira Losco, who represented Malta twice at Eurovision, has now teamed up with newcomer Father Rob. Father Rob Galea is a singing priest, who was born in Malta but moved to Australia where he rose to fame with his participation in Australia’s X Factor in 2015.

The 33-year-old priest stepped down during the time-intensive boot camp phase of competition in order to focus on his work in the Bendigo parish of St Killian.

But that didn’t make him abandon his love of music and he continued to work hard on new music and also on this thrilling collaboration with Ira.

The Eurovision star shares Father Rob’s enthusiasm for the song. Ira shared the video on Facebook, and said, “Even though it seemed like an unlikely musical collaboration I am extremely happy with the result.”

Father Rob was full of compliments for Ira. In a recent interview, he said, “While working with her, I think we came up with a common message: the recognition that we’re all messed up.” He added, “I’m a priest and I’m messed up. She’s a mum and she’s messed up, too — she doesn’t have it all together. We all have a million pieces; we’re broken.”

“But when this brokenness comes together in love — with love — and when we look after each other and take care of each other, and look up to the transcendent – then it becomes a work of art. These billions of pieces become a work of art,” he said, echoing the song’s lyrics that symbolise love and faith in humanity.
