He’s the Balkan balladeer who took Montenegro to its first ever Eurovision grand final in 2014. Since then, Sergej Cetkovic has written numerous beautiful ballads such as “Zar Je Kraj” and “Nek te Ljubav. Last week, he released his latest “Oci Nikad Ne Stare” (Eyes Never Age).
The track is slightly different to his previous offerings with shades of cello throughout. And our gentle giant is assisted by none other than Stjepan Hauser, one half of the world famous Croatian musical duo 2CELLOS — their reinterpretation of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” has over 95 million views on YouTube.

Written by Sergej himself, “Oci Nikad Ne Stare” is wonderfully empowering. It shows how talented Segej is at writing ballads — “Moj Svijet” clearly wasn’t a one-off. The addition of Hauser and his cello adds to the magic.
In the official music video, we see Sergej singing outdoors while simultaneously tinkling the ivories on a grand piano. Hauser too takes things out into the fresh air, playing his cello on a wooden platform in the middle of a lake.
We are treated to multiple shots of Montenegro’s dramatic rocky mountains, while a beautiful woman traipses through the countryside with a bunch of brightly coloured balloons.

When asked about the single and his new collaborator, Sergej had this to say:
Stjepan is a great professional and a brilliant musician, one of the few who understands music and has the ability to pass on all their emotions through his virtuosity and strings, and I am delighted with his approach, the music, the amount of energy he embeds in every note, and I always say that nothing is happening by chance and that all in this world has its reason and the time when it should happen. It’s written for all those who find and feel love. This experience is worth every single atom of strength and I hope that our will and enthusiasm will make our little musical fairytale be known.
