In recent days the Junior Eurovision 2017 stars have shown us what they’ve got — and that happens to be some amazing staging and dazzling LEDs. So Marc Mingels — our special photography correspondent for JESC this year — was incredibly enthused when organisers opened the gates to the arena today, allowing him to snap up a storm during second rehearsals.

Below you can see our candid snaps of all the action — from Isabella Clarke’s ferocious catwalk moves to Misha’s billowing smoke to Helena Meraai’s glittering universe of stars.

Then scroll down even further to see some behind-the-scenes video footage from today’s press conferences and rehearsals courtesy of Georgian wiwiblogger Rezo Mamsikashvili. He filmed interviews with several of this year’s acts, and we’ll be uploading them in due course.

My personal winner is Australia and it’s gonna be in top 5 I am sure
Last year the Georgian girl’s song received a lot of hate and she won
This year Misha’s song gets a lot of hate ..maybe it is sign that Armenia will win?…Anyway, the song is too boring for me…

I think Australia will win. They even already picked the host city for 2018.

You know that EBU decided one month ago that JESC 2018 host will be Minsk, right ?

Georgia looks like it’s coming for WIGS. That’s how you defend the title, ladies!

I can’t wait to see the final product for Armenia. I think it’s gonna be magical.

I’m pretty sure the smoke will completely cover the hover board, and that way Misha can stun Tbilisi! 🙂

Magical? You gotta be kidding me. It’s like one of the worst entries this year. I am sure it would battle for the last place if it was another country, but since it’s Armenia they will for sure get some extra pts from ex-Soviet countries and also there will be huge support from armenians via online voting (which is TOTALLY unfair to the other contestants).

Those who hated Misha’s performance should learn their lesson by now. 😮

“Hate” is such an extreme word for you to describe people’s bad impressions over a rehearsal video.

They didn’t say anything bad towards Misha himself. If they dislike the song, then they dislike the song. If they weren’t moved by his rehearsals, let them be.

It’s not the end of the world for you and everyone else.

Those critics should learn their lesson. Misha is NOT a bad singer, even with the hover board. Besides, it’s probably not the best idea for people to criticize his performance, one rehearsal after another. Next to that, starting from dress rehearsals, I bet the stage will be “flooded” with smoke, as the camera guys promised not to show the hover board from any angles.

perhaps not, it’s still bad.

@EscAU Just to clarify, it’s not too bad as things stand to be honest. Misha is not even close to being a bad singer, with or without the hover board. 😮

You really overrate armenian entry too much I think. Of course, it’s the matter of taste or opinion, but that performance is just straight fiasco. I don’t know, but for me it’s the worst entry this year and I don’t “hate” the singer or anything, please let’s not take everything so serious.

I don’t get the hate toward Misha, his 2nd rehearsal was way better, and as we can see from the above photos there will be some smoke, and the hoverboard won’t appear to screens.

I have 100% hope the cameras won’t be showing Misha’s hover board on way. That way, people can write comments like “Finally, his voice improved!” and “Yippee! The hover board is covered with smoke! Now Misha’s voice is way better than that fiasco!” 🙂

I checked some of the second rehearsals videos from YT and here are my thoughts about them. 1. Ireland – that’s really lovely song and it’s somehow very emotional. I would love to see her winning the whole thing. 2. Belarus – cool song, amazing performance. Well done once again, Helena. 3. Georgia – I’m actually not a fan of the song, but his performance is just brilliant. The staging fits the song and he got some strong vocals. 4. Australia – catchy song, nice performance. I don’t like her outfit and the staging could be more colorful imo. 5.… Read more »
