She represented Lithuania at Junior Eurovision 2011 with her song “Debesys”, placing tenth.

And now Paulina Skrabyte is putting that experience to good use as she enters the live shows of The Voice of Lithuania.

During her blind audition, which aired in September, the 16-year-old performed the Taylor Swift hit “Shake It Off”, managing to turn two of the judges’ chairs owing to her energy and a voice that belies her youth.

Ahead of her audition, Paulina likely received solid advice: Her personal vocal coach is Violeta Tarasoviene — a popular singer in Lithuania and a former judge on the The Voice.

Given the expertise on the judging panel, Paulina had a hard time deciding who to work with, but ultimately chose Leon Somov — a well-known producer, songwriter and DJ. He was thrilled to have her on his team, as he saw plenty of potential and thinks she can go far in the competition.

And so far he’s right. During the second round — the knockout round — Leon had her sing Shontelle‘s “Impossible”. It allowed her to showcase her amazing voice and talent — including her lower register. She won the day and moved on to the next round.

The third and final round before the live shows was the battle round, which aired last weekend.

Paulina was paired with another strong singer — Isabella Mia — and had to sing “Say Something” by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera.

Two divas tackling Christina was always going to be a death match, and the battle didn’t disappoint. Amid big notes and high stakes, the ladies left the four mentors very impressed. But in the end Paulina’s vocals and experience that speaks of a seasoned performer gave her the edge, securing her a spot in the live shows.

Only 12 contestants remain on The Voice of Lithuania and they’ll now battle in the live shows in the weeks ahead.

As you’ll have likely noticed above, Eurovision 2012 and 2016 star Donny Montell is one of the judges.

What do you think about Paulina’s journey so far? Can she win it all and become the new Voice of Lithuania?

You make news about JESC and the stars, but you did not make an article about the new song of Knez (ESC 2015)? Why? Just because, the music video is not “gay friendly”? Or did I just miss the article?

Well, his ‘comeback’ is not actually confirmed. He didn’t mentiond it directly, it is only a presumption by Lithuanian journalists. “Why not ? Third time sometimes is lucky” – he said when asked about his plans with the new song. Well, that’s not a confirmation. Just think, when he revealed his plans for 2016, he said it very clearly “Yes, I’m planning to return to Eurovision”, also published a video clip. And now ? Song length is said to be much more than 3 minutes, no clip, and no clear confirmation. He wouldn’t do it like that

Oh, and the song is in Lithuanian. Why the hell he publishes a song in Lithuanian if he plans to send it to Eurovision ? Not to mention inappropiate lyrics, which definitely must be changed

Both Donny and Sel shared an article on their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (Sel really wouldn’t do that for a joke). And even national broadcaster wrote an article about it. I think it is obvious.

Well, if you share an article, it doesn’t necessarily mean “Yes, I am participating !” C’mon every artist would share an article which speaks about him, don’t you think so ?? I think, all this ESC rumours are just part of their new song promotion plan. In that article by LRT, the last paragraph says “We can just speculate whether we could see this duet in national selection. ” Both Donny & Sel makes no clear statements – one speaks about third’s time luck and another says that “he has a huge experience but never been to Eurovision”. So, neither… Read more »
