After a three year run of non-qualification, Switzerland is hoping to turn it out in 2018. With a revamp of their selection process for Entscheidungsshow, they now have six acts looking to bring the country back to the final.
On Tuesday we learned that the six competing acts are Zibbz, Angie Ott, Naeman, Chiara Dubey, Alejandro Reyes and Vanessa Iraci. Now, ahead of the final on February 4, we want to know your opinion. Who should represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2018?
You can find all the competing songs below, and then vote in our poll:
Zibbz – “Stones”
Zibbz is a brother-sister duo made up of Corinne “Co” Gfeller and Stee Gfeller. Their song “Stones” was written by Co and Stee in collaboration with Canadian songwriter Laurell Barker, at the Swiss songwriting camp. Laurell is an experienced songwriter and co-wrote “I Wish I Loved You More” and “Freedom Hearts” in the 2017 UK national final.
Angie Ott – “A Thousand Times”
Angie Ott came to fame in 2013 as the runner-up of the first series of The Voice of Switzerland. Her song “A Thousand Times” was written by the Swedish-Maltese team of Jonas Gladnikoff, Sara Ljunggren, Glen Vella. Glen represented Malta at Eurovision 2011 and is a frequent contributor to national final songs, especially in partnership with Jonas.
Naeman – “Kiss Me”
Naeman is a Dutch-born, Swiss-raised singer and has experience on talent shows. He was a semi-finalist on the 2015 edition of Switzerland’s Got Talent and made it to the early stages of German Idol the same year. He will sing “Kiss Me”, written by Kate Northrop, Eric Lumiere, Ken Berglund and Alejandro Reyes. The song is another product of the Swiss songwriting camp.
Chiara Dubey – “Secrets and Lies”
Chiara Dubey is no stranger to the Swiss national final. The talented singer and violinist has competed twice before. In 2012, she placed third with “Anima nuova”, then the following year she placed fifth with “Bella sera”.
She will sing “Secrets and Lies”, which she co-wrote along with Janie Price, Jeroen Swinnen, Darcy Proper and Sally Herbert. Amongst the authors, Jeroen Swinnen is a Belgium songwriter, best known for co-writing Tom Dice’s “Me and My Guitar” and Sally Herbert is a noted string arranger who has worked with artists such as Florence + the Machine and Kylie Minogue.
Alejandro Reyes – “Compass”
Alejandro Reyes is the Chilean-born, Swiss-raised singer-songwriter who has long been a fan favourite to represent Switzerland at Eurovision. Alejandro will sing “Compass”, which he has co-written along with Laurell Barker and Lars Christen. Laurell is a Canadian songwriter who has also co-written Zibbz’s song “Stones”; Lars is a songwriter who had worked with many popular Swiss acts.
Vanessa Iraci – “Redlights”
Vanessa Iraci came to fame in 2014 on the second series of The Voice of Switzerland. She made it to the semi-final before being eliminated. Her song “Redlights” is written by the Symphonix songwriting collective, including Boris Milanov, Joacim Bo Persson, Johan Alkenäs, Jessica Ashley Karpov and Jesse Saint John. Symphonix has an impressive track record, but are best known for being behind Bulgaria’s 2016 and 2017 entries, “If Love Was a Crime” and “Beautiful Mess”.

where can I watch live show?
Redlights or Stones to Lisbon!!
Adore them !
Chiara Dubey is the best one.
I just cannot get excited about any of the songs. Nothing here gets out of a Eurovision semi-final to me and nothing is better than Apollo from last year.
Unfortunately, nothing exceptional from Switzerland.
I’m between “A thousand times” and “Stones”. “Stones” for me has the most potential regarding the presentation and the staging.
i don’t really get stones, i think maybe it comes across as having a deeper message than it really does
compass and redlights are vapid but catchy and current and I hope they win
I ain’t throwing anything, but “Stones” please. 🙂
Of course, we haven’t heard them live yet, and that could change things.
Stones for strong lyrics!
Stones. So easy.
Vanessa or Zibbz. Really good songs!
My Top 6: 1.Zibbz- this is a really solid, very well-produced entry and one that I can see giving Switzerland their best result in many years. Also, 3d models are apparently being involved in the staging, so we could be on to a great stage performance, too! 8/10. 2.Vanessa Iraci- The chorus in this song is REALLY strong and memorable! Vanessa seems to have some great vocals judging by online videos, but there’s not a guaranteed final spot with it though, but does have a solid chance of a Swiss qualification.7.25/10 3.Naeman- The song is catchy and stays in your… Read more »
Compass if anything is a blatant ripoff of Shawn Mendes’ hits. It literally has the same hook as There’s Nothin’ Holdin’ Me Back. Too bad his vocals are so bad!
All of them sound good to me and are enjoyable. This year Switzerland could qualify if they choose the rigth artist and build a top performance. This is my Top: 1. Chiara Dubey – Secrets and Lies (8.5/10) 2. Zibbz – Stones (7.25/10) 3. Alejandro Reyes -Compass (6.75/10) 4. Naeman – Kiss Me (6.5/10) 5. Vanessa Iracia – Redlights (6.5/10) 6. Angie Ott – A Thousand Times (6/10) “Secrets and Lies” is probably the riskiest choice for Switzerland, but also the most potentially rewarding. I’m talking about a top 5 or 10 placing. Would contest with “Esamiba” if both win… Read more »
My god, Switzerland is struggling to find their identity in Eurovision…
Were these the six best songs of the bunch? Can´t see any of them reaching anywhere in Lisbon…as pretty usual!
Perhaps the Swiss should buy the second placed song in France on the 27th…
I´m sure that would be a much better choice…;)
Stones is the best out of these 6 and it’s one of the best entries Switzerland would have if they sent them
So great ?
All the songs are white forggetable, and I don’t get the hype about “Stones”…
I don’t really understand the hype about Stones. My favourite is Compass! <3
Switzerland really impressed me this year! Last year was for my taste absolutely poor. But compared to this year, its much better. “A thousound times” and “Stones” are my favourites, but I’m a still not sure if they could bring Switzerland back to the final again!
Even though I love Stones and Redlights I am a bit underwhelmed..
I am not sure if these are the best six songs out of i think 800 songs..
Stones and Compass ( with Alejandro good vocal live) have only chance to get Swtizerland ticket to final.
My favorites:
1. Vanessa Iraci – “Redlights”, a solid tune with power behind it. Probably my favorite Swiss entry in recent memory.
2. Alejandro Reyes – “Compass”, I really the pre-chorus. It’ll be good choice to throw into the ESC-mix.
I don’t care for the other four at all and a little surprised “Stones” is so high.
I thought this was suppose to be Switerland’s great revamp? I am totally unimpressed with this selection of songs.
But hey, it’s better than what Belarus is working with.
Secrets and Lies all the way. With a stunning performance it could be in the top 10.
Good taste. But we are in the minority.
Compass is my favourite. 🙂
1. Alejandro Reyes – “Compass” 8/10 (voted)
2. Angie Ott – “A thousand times” 8/10 (voted)
3. Chiara Dubey – “Secrets and lies” 7/10
4. Zibbz – “Stones” 6/10
5. Vanessa Iraci – “Redlights” 5/10
6. Naeman – “Kiss me” 5/10
Zibbis or Chiara,love both songs!
All except Secrets and Lies or Kiss Me could qualify. My fave is Redlights.
They are all meh
I have no idea what everybody likes about ”Stones” that much… Don’t think it’s bad, but it’s nothing really special and leaves me cold…
It’s all comparative…..it’s not that Stones will win ESC 2018 but it’s clearly less monotonous than other NF Swiss entries and would give them the best chance of being in the final after 3 years.
What a great line-up! The Swiss really delivered the promise to step-up in the song department. My favorites are Stones, Secrets and Lies. Both song are amazing and would put Switzerland right on top! I also really like A Thousand Times. Other three are pretty okay too.
