In just over a week, the first semi-final of Latvia’s Supernova 2018 will take place. Seven acts will take to the stage next Saturday, February 3. With just two spots to the final on February 24 from each one, it’s going to be a tough competition.
To know who to look out, LTV has revealed to wiwibloggs which acts will perform in each semi-final. Previously, only the details of the first semi-final were made public.

Supernova 2018: New Hosts
Not only are the semi-finals in a new format, the rest of Supernova is changing too. Earlier this week, LTV tweeted a video where one of last year’s hosts, Toms Grevins, announced that he and Ketija Senberga will not host Supernova this year.

The question is, therefore, who will be this years host? Latvian fans have been asking that question across social media, with one rumour suggesting a former Latvian Eurovision act might be filling one of the roles.
As it stands, official announcements about this years hosts, jury and voting system will follow later. We’re just hoping we’ll still be seeing our beloved Riga Beaver, y’all!

The Supernova was very unpredictable last year.. big favorites like Katrina Cirule and Toms Kalderauskis didn’t make it to the final/semifinal. Don’t count your chickens, guys..

Good semi finals!
In every one of them there are 2 songs I would like to see through.
Semi Final will be a blood bath for sure. The first two are really well balanced though.
My qualifiers would be: 1st Semi: 1.Just Fine 2. Intoxicating caramel/Younger days , 2nd Semi: 1. Esamiba 2. Who’s counting (Sorry, don’t really like ”This time” that much…), 3rd semi: 1. You 2.Funny Girl…. The 2nd semi is the weakest in my opinion… The only song I really like is Esamiba.

Not like Estonia where they put any and every good song in semi 1 or Romania where few semis don’t have 3 listenable songs even!!
In terms of diversity, I really hope “Intoxicating Caramel” qualifies from the 1st semi-final

the only semi final i think is a hard choice would be semi final 3. i do have a sneaking suspicion katrine lukins won’t qualify… i’m fine with that as long as esam?ba wins it all.

Exactly what I think as well. The way I would like it is if Monta would edge out Markus by some chance. Still, we have to think how the songs will sound live. I have a notion that Laura Rizotto and Madara will sound great, I have no idea about the less experienced artists like Angese or Monta, and Katrine Lukins, for example, has had some history of not getting the notes right on Eurovision stage.
