Greta Zazza Lithuania Eurovision 2018

Often dubbed Eurovision’s longest selection process, Lithuania’s Eurovizijos Atranka continues on Saturday.

This week, we reach the third of the first four preliminary heats. From the 12 competing acts, there are many familiar faces. We pick out some of the ones to watch out for, including Gabrielius Vagelis, E.G.O., and Greta Zazza.

Greta Zazza

She was one of the fan favourites to win the pre-selection in 2017. And Greta Zazza’s first attempt proved to be quite successful, making it all the way to the grand final. Now she’s back with more experience and an even bigger fan following.

“Broken Shadows” is completely different to “Like I Love You”. It’s a strong emotional ballad which manages to remain upbeat. The entry comes with some strong credentials, including composers Jonas Thander and Charlie Mason (“Rise Like A Phoenix”, “Here For You”, “Beauty Never Lies”).

E.G.O

Eurovizijos Atranka regulars will be familiar with this boyband. E.G.O. return with “Shake The World”, an apt title given the recent shakeup in the group’s line-up. The song name hints at a potential club banger.

Since their 2017 stint, the boys have honed their craft by releasing a number of hit singles in the Lithuanian market. Will they make the final this time?

Milda Martinkenaite

They say third time’s a charm. And Milda Martinkenaite will be hoping to have luck on her side for her third attempt in Lithuania’s Eurovision selection.

With more experience and confidence than ever, all the signs bode well for Milda. “Hurricane” is a powerful entry, and shows plenty of promise. In the past, songs such as “If Tomorrow Never Comes” have failed to take her all the way. Could 2018 finally be her year?

Gabrielius Vagelis

Like so many others in this selection, he’s a man who has tried many times before. And after enjoying his best ever result in 2017 — he reached the final — Gabrielius Vagelis must have his sights set on Lisbon.

Known for his unique style and voice, Gabrielius has entered with “The Distant”. Local media are already tipping it as his his strongest entry yet.

ELEY

She’s the artist formerly known as Egle Jakstyte. And after a year’s break from the competition, she’s returned as ELEY.

Egle is a big name in Lithuania and has been established in the music industry for a long time. In 2009 she won the popular music show Muzikos akademija 2. Her comeback song is called “This Is My Life” and, knowing Egle, it should be one to look forward to.

Ah I’m surprised valdas wasn’t mentioned here – his song is one of my top 3 of Eurovision 2018 so far but I think I realise now I may be in a minority thinking that.

If Gabrielius Vagelis brings something even better than “Feel Myself Free”, I might fall in love 😛 . Really looking forward to listen to him!

Lithuanian jury thinks it’s better than last year!! The Lithuanian jury never placed him higher than 4th last year so I’m positive

His best entry was “Sacrifice” in 2013. How it didn’t even reach the final?!
