They came to Gothenburg hoping to make the semi-final 2 audience dance. And tonight Melodifestivalen stalwarts Samir & Viktor did just that with “Shuffla”, winning the Melodifestivalklubben audience exit poll.

The fan club polls the audience as they’re leaving the arena follow Friday evening’s dress rehearsal. It’s proven to be a pretty handy guide to who could be in line to advance in the actual result. Last week the poll correctly predicted that John Lundvik and Benjamin Ingrosso would advance, while it also correctly predicted that Sigrid would go to Second Chance. It had Renaida down in fifth (she ultimately went to second chance) and had Edward down in fourth (though he actually finished fifth). It’s an interesting barometer nonetheless!

Samir & Viktor finished on top with 307 votes — or around 39% of all those cast. Their song “Shuffla” is feel good and footloose — and clearly the audience was eating it up.

In second we have the bookies’ pre-contest favourite Liamoo with “Last Breath”.

The Swedish stunner earned 176 votes, or around 22%. That’s enough to make us think he’s also headed direkt till final.

After those top two, the numbers take a bit of a dip. And they lead us to the two predicted Andra Chansen qualifiers.

Margaret — who has ditched her sparkling toilet following rehearsals — finished third with “In My Cabana”. She earned 99 votes, which equates to 13%.

Mimi Werner finished fourth. The “Songburning” star earned 88 votes, or around 11%.

One thing to note, however, is that Margaret and Ida both got to perform a second time. As this is a dress rehearsal, producers also rehearsed the encore performances. Margaret and Ida were chosen at random to reprise their entries. That could have potentially swayed some audience members, who were asked to vote after the second performances.

Melodifestivalen Semi-Final 2 Audience Poll

  1. LIAMOO with “Last Breath” 176 votes, 22%
  2. Margaret with”In My Cabana” 99 votes, 13%
  3. Mimi Werner with “Songburning” 88 votes, 11%
  4. Jonas Gardellwith “Det finns en väg” 39 votes, 5%
  5. Stiko Per Larsson with “Titta vi flyger” 7 votes, 1%

Of course, with such a small sample size, there’s no way of telling if this audience poll will play out correctly. But again — it’s a spot of fun and has proven generally correct in the past. Based on the above we’re fairly certain Jonas and Stiko won’t be advancing.

What do you think of the audience poll? Do you think we could be in for a shock, or do you think the live audience got it wrong? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments section below!

However I do agree that MF is a lot worse this year. I’m gutted about Edward af Sillen decided to work with UK:s selection instead. Get your own people! I hope he makes his return next year, because this year MF is boring with pointless jokes. But.. it only takes one good song to be sent for Esc and if there has to be a long and boring process to get there.. than so be it.

Hope that people will give up the phrase ”this song sounds like a Melfest reject”.
Nowadays Melfest is so low, itself sounds like a South Korea reject.

Good for them. That 1 year break from Melfest must’ve paid off.

On a completely different note, Estonia has overtaken Sweden as the winner of ESC 2018.

Wow, Samir & Viktor have an amazing lead in the poll. I’m stunned.

I think threse results are pretty much how the event will end up tomorrow, too.
Personally I’m not a fan of Liamoo‘s type of music, but others seem to enjoy it, so who am I to judge.

Oh thank god. I really hope the results turn out like this… I thought Liamoo and Margaret would have amazing Songs (which they don’t as we know now), but Shuffla is hands down the best one. If Margaret makes it to the final and Samir & Viktor don’t, I’d be really annoyed!

For reference, the poll before semi 1 went:
1. ”My turn” – John Lundvik: 164 röster
2. ”Dance you off” – Benjamin Ingrosso: 159
3. ”Patrick Swayze” – Sigrid Bernson: 153
4. ”Livet på en pinne” – Edward Blom: 91
5. ”All the feels” – Renaida: 61
6. ”Osby Tennessee” – Kikki Danielsson: 29
7. ”Solen lever kvar hos dig” – Kamferdrops: 22

Fairly accurate.

lolwut they got 14 out of 16 qualifiers and 6 out of 8 DTF correct, plus top 3 (televote) in the final. It’s rare to find predictions that good.

Accurate except Renaida placed third and very close to second and Sigrid was very close to going out.

We don’t know who placed third and forth as those places are presented in a random order. The voting data is not released until after the final.
But even granting your assumptions, it’s still somewhat remarkable given the unscientific nature of the poll.

I’m speaking from looking at the sparks in the heart.
Renaida was very close to John while Sigrid was far away and only marginally better than Edward.
