Áttan – “Here For You”
“Here For You” reviews
Antranig: The best thing Áttan have going for them is their chemistry and harmonies. They work extremely well as a pair and that translates well in the studio version. If they can deliver that same connection on stage, this could do surprisingly well. The song itself is mediocre and slightly disappointing but the staging and chemistry will make or break this.
Robyn: Shockingly, here’s a song that sounds current. But beyond that, “Here For You” is a decent slice of modern pop. Sonja and Egill sound great together, but they’ll need to deliver some on-screen chemistry for this to work live. The song feels a little inconclusive, it doesn’t quite tell a good story, but there’s potential for something more.
Jonathan: “Here For You” is one of the more interesting songs in the line-up. It’s got a fast-paced electronic beat that keeps you engaged throughout, yet also has a laid-back quality about it, so it doesn’t feel too busy overall. But, it is slightly monotonous and doesn’t have the peaks and troughs to make it a standout. Additionally, we’ve heard a few similarly-styled songs in previous Icelandic selections and they never come off particularly well live. But if Sonja and Egill manage to build some chemistry between them, then it may have a shot at reaching the Söngvakeppnin final at least.
Aline: The song starts interesting, but when they start singing it starts to disappoint. This feels like another cliché love song that we already have heard a million times before. I’m not a fan of it and I’m also afraid that it won’t do really well in Europe. I can’t enjoy listening to these voices either. The girl also seems to not have a really powerful voice, so I wonder how they will do on stage. When it comes to the Eurovision Song Contest I mostly prefer the live versions the studio versions so maybe their act can make me change my mind.
Barnabas: This is just that kind of duet that doesn’t really work, and even the song doesn’t lead everywhere, however it might be heard in elevators for example, but honestly this is just weak.
Chris: There’s nothing exactly new going on in “Here For You”. In terms of Icelandic duets, this wouldn’t even come close to the likes of Greta/Jonsi and Eurobeat. But it’s not all bad. Sonja and Egill do sound more like two solo artists thrown together, but they have moments where they work as a duo. It just stands out enough amongst this field.
