melodifestivalen 2018 deltavling 3 excitedfor

Nu kör vi! Melodifestivalen moves on to Semi-Final 3 in Malmö this week. At this point in the competition last year, we first heard last year’s winner Robin Bengtsson sing his winning song “I Can’t Go On” and hopes are similarly high this year. Seven more acts are set to take to the stage in the Malmö arena, all hoping to hear David Lindgren tell them they’ve gone “direkt til final” or failing that “Andra Chansen”.

Idol winner Martin Almgren will open the show, Melfest newcomer Barbi Escobar is on second and Mocho is on third with the tropicana-sounding “Cuba Libre”.

Golden girl Jessica Andersson sings sandwiched between two threesomes in fourth, Kalle Moraeus & Orsa Spelmän are on fifth singing “Min Dröm”, singer-songwriter Dotter – the Melodifestivalen 2018 Semi-Final 3 act you’re most excited for – sings sixth and two-time Melfest alum Mendez closes the show singing “Everyday”.

Now that SVT has released the snippets, we want to know who you think should win Semi-Final 3 in Malmö, head direkt til final and join the Stockholm sausage fest at Friends Arena alongside Benjamin Ingrosso, John Lundvik, LIAMOO, and Samir & Viktor.

You can vote for as many acts as you like, but unlike the Melodifestivalen Official app, you can only vote once, so make it count. The results will be revealed on Saturday immediately prior to Semi-Final 3 which airs at 20:00CET on SVT1.

WHO SHOULD WIN MELODIFESTIVALEN 2018 SEMI-FINAL 3?

1 Martin Almgren “A Bitter Lullaby”

5 Kalle Moraeus & Orsa Spelmän “Min dröm”

7 Méndez “Everyday”

[polldaddy poll=9940163]

Last week you wanted Margaret and Samir & Vitkor to win the semi-final, with LIAMOO and Mimi Werner as your picks for Andra Chansen. Although Sweden didn’t entirely deliver – “In My Cabana” will battle it out at Andra Chansen, while “Last Breath” has cruised to the final in Friends Arena – you did correctly identify this week’s four qualifiers. Let us know your favourite song from this week in the comments below!

1. Kween Dotter – I won’t lie I was hoping something more like her back catalogue ‘Creatures of the Sun’ or ‘Evolution’. It’s probably one of the strongest songs still albeit, it kind of gives me Isa vibes with ‘I Will Wait’. Definitely going direkt though. 2. Mendez – I didn’t see the hype around him when he was revealed and given the last slot, however, I can now see why. Obviously there’s Despacito influences, but I still feel like he makes this song his own. Again, should be a direkt qualification. 3. Jessica Andersson – This is THE bop… Read more »

I don’t get Eurovision fans anymore. The biggest moaners on earth. Hell this semi is the strongest so far and Dotter is the biggest stand out. I get 2016 vibes all over again. Sweden ending a reaally, good, modern song, but fans being to stupid to get it.

Ah you see, Wiiwreaders don’t want modern songs from Sweden, they want schlagers, folk-Music and ethno. Anything that is modern is shunned upon. In thier mind it’s still 1998 and not 2018. They think schalgers is soemthing everyone listens to and enjoys..

I am not understanding the Dotter hype (and bookie ranking) AT ALL. I wonder what I am missing…

When did “modern” become code for slow and boring?

Dotter! Thank god she delivered. But I’m gonna be honest, this will be a walk in the park for Mariette. She will win or Sweden will not reach the top 10 this time.

It doesn’t really matter, because it”a all boring as hell. If I had to choose I would go for Dotter. This is one NF that I very gladly skip, for the sake of my sanity.

I’m wondering the same thing and I don’t consider eurovision-fans to be a good indicator of what’s good anymore. That I’ve learned this year.
Dotter for example seem ahead of her time in this contest and might get over people’s heads. Thay’s what I fear will happen on Saturday. Maybe people won’t get it. It’s classy and arty and very 2018. While Jessica is 2006.

Ok, it’s official now! Areti Ketime confirmed on her Facebook page that she has been disqualified and wished good luck to Gianna. Gianna will represent Greece in Lisbon.

So it was basically an internal selection lmao mess.

What to expect from a country that is not even economically solid to hold a national final?!

I hope at least that it was a right internal decision.

Hope queen Areti Ketime will return next year with another bop and take her revenge!!!

OK. This has to be the weakest semifinal of MF 2018. I like none of the snippets. Hopefully Mariette won’t disappoint us next week. ^^

If it was up to me I’d send Cry and Cuba Libre to the final, and A Bitter Lullaby and Everyday to andra chansen.

Honestly, I think Jessica’s performance was the best among them all…I can see why it’s getting the most views! Schlager at it’s best! Mendez’s voice has something to be desired, despite a good song. Barbi’s song is good, but she’s too static on stage. The others are okay to so-so. Anyway, still prefer Shuffla the best!

Or maybe she gets the most views because she’s the most known person in this semifinal? Catchy song, but that’s it.

I actualy really like the songs in this semifinal – or maybe after those two previous ones I lowered my expectations so much that I’m impressed by anything slightly decent now 😛 Anyway – my top 7: 1. Martin Almgren – best song so far 2. Kalle Moraeus & Orsa Spelmän – yes, seriously, I’m not immune to nostalgia and this is full of it 3. Jessica Andersson – ok song 4. Méndez – aweful live vocals, still good song 5. Barbi Escobar – aweful live vocals, mediocre song 6. Dotter – nope, I guess I’m not impressed by everything… Read more »

I don’t get the Hype with Dotter. Her snippet doesnt give me any emotion. I can find better song in other countries (France with Mercy, Czechia with Lie To Me, Poland with Delirium and Estonia with La Forza. These 4 are good examples).

For me , You Decide, Destination Eurovision, OT, Supernova and Eesti Laul, Selectia Nationala, Vidbir, DMGP and Song CZ’s songs are more exciting and memorable than most if not ALL of Sweden’s songs so far this year.

So in conclusion if song quality doesn’t improve it’s a 3rd year in a row where Sweden is not in my top 10 or this year, 20.

I think Dotter will win just waiting for Mariette to have an amazing song.

Dotter, easily. She has no competition!
Now as for who will join her it’s open, meaning the field is stronger.I like Jessica but schlager is dead, especially with app voting. I like Martin too. And Mendez.

I couldn’t vote for anyone. It’s the worst MalFest ever. I guess trying to rebrand it in a very lame way to “Mello” made everything crappy. People keep saying that Christer wants to bring the 7th victory before he steps down, but this edition is just a disgrace for him, for Sweden, and for music. It all sounds like something that even San Marino would reject.

ITs time for Jessica Andersson to bring back the schlager to Melodifestivalen! Modernise the schlager genre!

I haven’t like her entries since 2007! I hope she goes to the finals,or at least the Andra chanson.
