DoReDos Moldova national flag

DoReDos just won Moldova‘s national selection O melodie pentru Europa 2018 on Saturday, but they are already in the process of revamping their winning entry “My Lucky Day”. The new remix is produced by famed DJ Shantel.

The new mix was made by famed DJ/producer Stefan Hantel, better known by his stage name Shantel. He is known for his work with gypsy brass orchestras, DJing and remixing traditional Balkan music with electronic beats. He has had several big hits, mainly in Balkan countries, like “Disko partizan” which Phillipp Kirkorov covered, turning it into one of his biggest hits in the ex-Soviet countries.

Philipp Kirkorov is the songwriter and mastermind behind the success of “My Lucky Day”. After DoReDos won the national selection O melodie pentru Europa, Kirkorov said that his involvement with the Moldovan trio was a thank you to the country which marked his professional debut. He will continue to support DoReDos throughout their journey to Lisbon, where he will of course be present as well.

At the National Final on Saturday, the original version received 12 points from eight out of the nine members of the Moldovan jury, while the viewers voted overwhelmingly for DoReDos.

Despite the high quality of the remix, the trio apparently prefer the original song for Lisbon, and a decision regarding the final version is pending.

DoReDos – “My Lucky Day” (National Final version)

This begs the question: what would the Eurofans prefer? Therefore, we are asking you the same question: which of the two versions do you like the most? Let us know by voting in the poll below! We will publish the results once a final decision regarding the song is made.

After you vote, let us know what you think about DJ Shantel’s remix. Should DoReDos perform it in Lisbon or should they stick with the National Final version?

Songs that are cheesy are good!
Like, Swede’s have quite the cheesy song!
The difference is that Moldova’s is fun.
I think Moldova will go to the Grand finals.
It’s my first!

Moldova has always been underestimated, and DoReDos are SunStroke, but also Pasha Parfeny, and also Nelly Ciobanu, and also Zdob&Zdub, DoReDos are Moldova as it has always been. Keep underestimate Moldova, the truth is Mold. and Czech R. are the only countries so far that have songs that make people dance.

The remix version is better than the national final version, which reminded me a lot of UK’s Elecric Velvet. The additional ethnic instrumentation in the remix is a lot better.

It’s still a turd, but this remix makes it a turd rolled in glitter. It may look pretty but hun nee it stinks. Only joking I like it. It reminds me of a tv commercial advertising turkey in the 1980s.

I actually like the very first version better, the one before the NF, but all the three of them sound good. I wonder why do they keep changing it though?

The old version flows better than the remix, but maybe that’s because i’ve heard it so much. This will certainly qualify, it’s just THAT good. Sometimes people want crazy between in this contest, and they really give a show. But haters gotta hate.

One of my favourite entries so far!

The remix is good, I’ll agree with someone here saying it sounds more western. However, it’s more messy now and I don’t like the strong beat through the entire song.

I prefer the original version. It builds up to a strong chorus and the instrumentation makes it more special, it gives an eastern identity to the song.

Western? It’s got Rasputin Realness all over it!

This is so bad, it actually makes me wish they’d gone for some Swedish reject.

I’m pretty sure that since 2016 it’s actually Sweden that goes for Moldovan rejects…

They look silly and sound outdated singing this. My last place so far. But Romania and Russia will push it upwards.

I really want to love this entry and go dancing to it, but I can’t. 🙁
The vocals are a bit flat, the whole performance lacks energy, and as for the lyrics – remind me what numbers one and two mean again? :S Instrumentation would do better without the re-mix, I think. The more less processed the better; real instruments over tech for this. Best of luck.

Number one and Number two mean that you should go to the toilet and stay there where you belong.

I love this song! The Shantel remix makes it more “western” I think.
Because for now it appeals only to Eastern Europe.

I absolutely love Shantel – been to seven concerts of him already. His own songs are much better than the Moldovan entry, but his work has positive effects on it – they should go to Lisbon with the remixed version…

If the silly trio prefer the comparatively unexciting original, someone needs to have a word with them right now. Remix please!

I hope this won’t go to the final, it doesn’t deserve it. It’s dated and not original at all, and just because it’s folky doesn’t mean it’s good.

Well at least it’s better than having 43 generic Swedish-produced pop songs in ESC

Toinousse

That’s a stupid comment, almost none of the selected song so far ar Swedish produced pop songs, and they’re all better than this trashy soup.

I didn’t say all songs are Swedish produced, I’m just trying to say that having something different would be better than having all songs to be the same and predictable

Erasmus

True, but still if you pick this mess you should stay in the semi. It’s not the worst song ever, but as I said dated and not original, hope it won’t end up in final just, because it’s upbeat. Slovenia has a better upbeat song, and also Australia will deliver something upbeat, for sure better than this.
