DoReDos just won Moldova‘s national selection O melodie pentru Europa 2018 on Saturday, but they are already in the process of revamping their winning entry “My Lucky Day”. The new remix is produced by famed DJ Shantel.
The new mix was made by famed DJ/producer Stefan Hantel, better known by his stage name Shantel. He is known for his work with gypsy brass orchestras, DJing and remixing traditional Balkan music with electronic beats. He has had several big hits, mainly in Balkan countries, like “Disko partizan” which Phillipp Kirkorov covered, turning it into one of his biggest hits in the ex-Soviet countries.
Philipp Kirkorov is the songwriter and mastermind behind the success of “My Lucky Day”. After DoReDos won the national selection O melodie pentru Europa, Kirkorov said that his involvement with the Moldovan trio was a thank you to the country which marked his professional debut. He will continue to support DoReDos throughout their journey to Lisbon, where he will of course be present as well.
At the National Final on Saturday, the original version received 12 points from eight out of the nine members of the Moldovan jury, while the viewers voted overwhelmingly for DoReDos.
Despite the high quality of the remix, the trio apparently prefer the original song for Lisbon, and a decision regarding the final version is pending.
