Eurovision fans are labelling it the worst Melodifestivalen for years. But judging from the Sverigetopplistan chart, the Swedish public does not agree.
The latest countdown of the country’s top 100 singles shows a nation that’s gripped by Mello mania. The list contains 19 entries from the competition, 14 of which are inside the top 40. And, for the first time since 2016, a Melfest song holds the number one spot.
After debuting at #9 last week, FELIX SANDMAN âEvery Single Dayâ has soared to #1. He’s slowly been building traction from semi-final 4 through to Andra Chansen to now. The last Melfest act to reach the top spot was Frans with “If I Were Sorry” in 2016. He went on to win the competition and finished fifth at Eurovision.
However, topping the charts does not guarantee victory. Ace Wilder ruled the Sverigetopplistan in 2014, only for “Busy Doin’ Nothin'” to finish second behind Sanna Nielsen’s “Undo”.
Four more Melfest contenders join FELIX inside the top ten. The highest being Samir & Viktor âShufflaâ. The lively duo are at #3. Right behind them is Mendez âEverydayâ at #4. They’re up from #6 and #5 respectively.
Benjamin Ingrosso âDance You Offâ and LIAMOO âLast Breathâ break into the top ten for the first time. Benjamin is at #7 while LIAMOO sneaks in at #10.
Margaret âIn My Cabana” at #12 and Rolandz âFuldansâ at #14 bring the number of top 20 Melodifestivalen entries to seven.
Elsewhere, Mariette âFor Youâ, John Lundvik âMy Turnâ, Jessica Andersson âParty Voiceâ and Renaida âAll The Feelsâ all crack the top 40.
As do Sigrid Bernson âPatrick Swayzeâ, Olivia Eliasson âNever Learnâ and Moncho âCuba Libre”, despite all three being eliminated during last Saturday’s Andra Chansen.
At #42, Martin Almgren âA Bitter Lullabyâ is the lowest charting finalist.
The lower reaches of the chart also sees appearances from a number of acts which were knocked out during the semi-finals — Dotter, Elias Abbas, Edward Blom and Kamferdrops.
Somewhat surprisingly, Mimi Werner “Songburning” remains outside the chart. She’s the only semi-final qualifier to miss the top 100 completely in 2018. Ida Redig, who placed fifth behind her, broke into the charts for the two weeks immediately following semi two.

Of course, the Melodifestivalen 2018 winner wonât be determined by the charts. Nevertheless, they can potentially offer an insight as to what songs the Swedish public are backing.
But unlike the semis and second chance round, the voting dynamics will be shaken up in the grand final as the votes of international juries will also come into play.
What do you think? Do you agree with the chart rankings? Does Felix deserve to be number one? How did your favourites do? Let us know in the comments below.
Have read comments on Wiwibloggs for years, never commented before. As a Swede, have watched Melodifestivalen since the early 70-ies. Grew up with it. We either love or hate it, we always discuss it. Most that hate it watch as well. Families watch together. Young and old. We need glitter and fun in the darkest weeks of the year. Stuff that makes us happy. With this said – I personally want Felix to win. Loved the song first time I heard it. Felt genuine. Was chocked it only went to AC. Here at home – the Melfest hating significant other… Read more »
I still hope for a miracle for last breath
He is even charting on the Spotify viral charts in AUSTRALIA.
What an odd year for Sweden. A song that they didn’t vote directly to the grand finals is now sitting at #1 in their official music charts. How will tonight’s show turn out then? Let me guess who got highest televotes this year..Samir & Viktor? lolz
EWWWWWWW it’s so bad…disgusting
What I hope for: Liam or Felix
What I think: John Lundvik
The comparable Sverigetopplistan last year:
3. As I Lay Me Down
6. I Can’t Go On
7. Hold On
10. Gotta Thing About You
Daily spotify streams, March 10 last year
2. As I Lay Me Down, 356 489
4. Hold On, 275 755
5. I Can’t Go On, 270 149
9. Gotta Thing About You, 219 884
Well the Top 3 was the same just in different order so charts aren’t so far off. Gotta Thing About You’s target audience was mostly teenagers, so it makes sense to have done well on the charts and slightly down in the televote. If that same effect is in this year, Felix might not win the televote, but he is still very likely to be in the Top 3 of televoting.
With all these charts showing Renaida dead last behind her competition, I’m sad to accept that she might get last place in televotes :/
Yeah, chart success is clearly an excellent indicator, but it’s not sufficient.
It’s either her or Martin. I think she’s mentally prepared for that and is just “gonna go out there and have fun” as they say. She’s already acheived what she set out to do. đ
When everyone is constantly posting news off topic, why not me too. The video for Taboo just came out and it’s INTENSE!

Also, official video for Mercy is out and it’s VERY powerful and touching.

Enjoy, everyone.
Israel are nerver EVER gonna Win!!!!
End the competition, Israel will win!!!!
Israel’s song comes out tomorrow, right? Is the song already available?
Delayed to Sunday.
How is Mimi not even on the charts though? I really liked her song!
Mimi is just as good as Felix. It was a bad decision putting them in the same dues. Mimi should have dueled Sigrid and Felix should have dueled Mendez and both of them should have won their respective duels.
Mimi was most likely 4th, so her opponents were always going to be one of Felix, Margaret, Mendez or Renaida – the assumed 3rd placers, so no matter what, she would’ve had a hard time going to the final. Though, Mimi was, without a doubt, the strongest 4th placer.
You are right, it’s 3rd vs 4th. Since Margaret was with Mimi on the semi, not her, which leaves Felix, Mendez and Renaida. Even so, IMHO, Felix is the only one whose song is as good as Mimi’s. Realistically, she could have lost from Renaida or Mendez, but at least I would be properly cheering for her. This way, it was a tie and I was bummed one of them has to go.
Mimi would have won over mendez…. At least the duration of heart sparks suggest so
LIAMOO FTW!!!
Sweden with Rolandz will be in final thanks to juries, and with juries song wili be with Australia in TOP 5 juries votes.
ha ha ha… so funny… -_-
Can someone leak the Israeli song? It’s now 6th in the bettings odds, all of sudden. Some people either must have heard it or apparently are very confident in the Israeli singer.
* all of a sudden
Probably just ppl from Israel hyping up their own artist. People did vote for her to go to ESC after all so they must be excited for her so they’re betting.
Any upset is possible, but this is the probability:
0-5% chance for winning – Rolandz, Renaida
5-10% chance for winning – Martin, Mendez
10-20% chance for winning – Jessica, Margaret
20-30% chance for winning – Liamoo, Mariette, Samir & Viktor
30-60% chance fro winning – Felix, Benjamin
That’s actually pretty accurate, I see it the same way. Samir & Viktor I kinda cancelled, because the Jury isn’t gonna like them. I find it fascinating, that Felix is the 2nd favourite to win…People say that, the Odds say that…. I love Felix’ song, but I did not expect him to be received so well. In the end he’s an Andra Chansen qualifier and doesn’t that usually leave no Chance of winning anything at all? Not in this case I guess. Would be cool to see another AC winner again. ^^
I have a feeling we might even get a Jamala-style victory. For example:
Televote: 1) Samir & Viktor, 2) Felix, 3) Liamoo, 4) Benjamin, 5) Margaret
Jury: 1) Benjamin, 2) Felix, 3) Mariette, 4) John, 5) Martin
Overall: 1) Felix, 2) Benjamin, 3) Samir & Viktor, 4) Liamoo, 5) Mariette
Yeah,I’d be happy with that actually. I’m alomst sure that we’ll not get a winner that is 1st with the Jury and the Televote… That’s really unlikely to me.
Yeah, somehow it seems highly unlikely. Well, ANY kind of win for Felix or S&V is a good news for me. My third/fourth options are Jessica and Margaret, even if I know that they are even less likely to win. I’d be okay with Benjamin, but that’s it -okay. Probably no way he would be in my top 15 of ESC.
Yeah, S&V and Felix are the only ones that excite me… I think (well I hope, at least) that we might witness the same Situation like last year when Wiktoria (the favourite) came 6th. Just that I don’t want another song as generic as Robin Bengtsson’s. Please đ
I often have a feeling that when I root for the obvious winner, it’s a surprise victory and whenever I root for the underdog, the obvious winner wins. However, I know this feeling is wrong, as this year, my favorite won in Estonia, Denmark, Germany, Serbia, Finland and Switzerland, while my joint favorite won in Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and France. So, actually, it’s often that my favorite wins, but of course, not always. So far, my saddest ”defeat” this season was Madara in Latvia, even if I actually quite like Laura’s song. My favorites this weekend are S&V /… Read more »
John is forgotten among these..
Oh, sorry, it’s accidentally. I like John’s song, but in objective odds I would put him in the same middle category with Jessica and Margaret.
There is an Artist called John who is a measly third in the odds though
Edward Blom’s âLivet pĂ„ en pinneâ is the most tragic event in this year’s Mello.
Circus act for old grannies with dementia watching from a madhouse.
Benjamin will win the jury votes and Felix for sure the televotes. It’s gonna be hard to predict the winner, either way both of them are great represented for us :))
This can indicate a lot about the televote, but tells us zilch about the international juries and they often dictate the winner. Benjamin Ingrosso’s song would be the exact type of song they go for the last few years.
I expect Felix or Samir & Viktor to win the televote, though.
Mendez in surprise. Maybe he can surprise like in MF 2002 when he was 2nd in MF. My precition Mendez in TOP 5 in MF final (thanks to televote) . I like his song, one of better in final.
I believe Felix has the advantage right now of being exposed both in the last semifinal and AC. Benjamin performed in the first semifinal. That’s five weeks ago! People need to refresh their memories. Because I think Benjamin is the best choice compared to what’s chosen so far for Esc. Felix would just blend in. He wouldn’t be remembered at all. But I’m fine with our entry if he goes to Lissabon.
And I wouldn’t leave out John Lundvik’s chances. But choosing him would be a disaster I think. Even more than Felix.
I hope for some real upset like Rolandz, some completely out of the box for the very calculated empire of Bjorkman.
Or at least Jessica just to annoy him.
I think Felix would stand out more than Benjamin. Benjamin would be the entry everyone expects Sweden to send. Like Robin bengtsson last year.
Felix offers something new. There aren’t many entries like him this year and it is a really good song. The fact that he doesn’t have many “tricks” is what makes him unique. Choosing him won’t be a disaster.
Both Ingrosso and felix would be good choices and would secure good spots. Felix would be the edgier choice though. Ingrosso is more safe
Have you checked out Gustav’s blog on SVT and Schlagerprofilerna? They have their own international juryvoting. It’s really close between Benjamin (1st) then Felix and John on Schlagerprofilerna’s. And Benjamin is in the lead right now with John in 2nd on Gustav’s blog. Felix has dropped further down.. But still there are no runaway winner as it seems.. Could be a hint of what to expect with the juries though. But then is the question.. What will the public vote for? That damn app will create not much of a difference between them I think.
Also what kind of people are in the juries? Connection to MF like with Gustav or who haven’t seen before as in Schlagerprofilerna? If it’s like in number 2 Felix could still have a chance.
Either way it looks like it won’t be a clear jury winner as Robin B last year. But the jury favourite will most likely be the winner since the app voting won’t create much difference between scores. if they want more televoting influence the app should be abolished or limited.
Since none of these songs are worthy of a spot in the finals in May, I’m really careless about the charts tbh.
Rolandz are THE best, Edward Af Sillen don’t lie
Well….you need about TEN downloads to reach Itunes Sweden nowadays, while Spotify is so much bigger and is used by people of all ages.
ThatÂŽs why Itunes looks the way it does… DoesnÂŽt tell us anything about the outcome tomorrow…
That, I have never heard about anyone who buys songs from iTunes when there’s free spotify
Well in Sweden it is best to look at Spotify list than ITunes.Everyone uses it. ITunes can’t be bothered here.
Sverige topplistan is for all streamed music. Basically Spotify.
Heard many that sak that thea will vote for Rolandz since thea think that non of the songs will win. Then we van give euroupe somthing fun instead! ?
… say that they…
…since they…
.. then we can..
Etc ?
Whew talent is winning! Benjamin found dead in a ditch oop.
Realtalk: I can’t be the only ones that wants to Punch Benjamin in te face when he starts to sing? His voice is so annoying wtf…
His voice is tragic indeed!
Haha! Agree!!
Thank you all for telling the truth, he shouldnt be a singer at all..
His mommy ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bljaYiFaeQ ) was awful and painful enough. Should they really send, I’ll not only mute the sound but will also have to watch something else for three minutes plus however long the postcard takes. That’s how irritating I find him and his act.
* send him
I don’t even want to imagine what a mess the Chorus will be when they have to remove the backround vocal track… Oh Boy, please just don’t do it, Sweden…
just like that screechy Margaret flop that can’t sing at all.
TRAINWRECK vocal disaster from Poland
I agree… She really can’t sing, but at least her song is better than what Benjamin is serving. (And the only Thing he’s serving is staging.)
Last year’s flop Bengtsson proved that staging is all that Sweden needs to serve. And maybe some male pansexual eye-candy like Mans would have even won the ESC with mediocre songs like ”I Can’t Go On” and ”Dance You Off”
You have a grudge against Sweden or something? Every post of yours seem to be full of contempt and rage and “hope Sweden embarrass themselves”
This is probably the first time that I’m actually agreeing with you. Benjamin’s stage show is just a coverup for his generic song like Robin last year. Hope he flops to 6th place like Wiktoria last year.
Either Felix or Margaret is the dark horse of this year’s MF
both can’t sing live, Felix’s song is so plateau and he’s got the voice of Frans, can only mumble/talk through his own song
Felix CAN sing live…. He’s one of the best singers in Melfest this year (whichÂŽisn’t difficult, but anyway). The Performance on YouTube sounds not as good as the AC one since he had a cold back then. I’m sure he’ll nail the final Performance ^^
The usual excuse, I remember him since the FO&O days and his singing was always terrible. Even S&V improved and he didn’t, can only do lower register and oooooohs
You’re wrong. But as Long as you’re happy with yourself spamming your aggressive opinion everywhere on here, I couldn’t care less. ^^
It’s not agressive, it’s just like Felix is going to be another Anna Bergendahl and he deserves better, like coming back to FO&O who had some nice songs together.
they sound pretty okay live, actually. whichever song Sweden picks this year is on the verge of Anna situation, everyone has very high expectations of Sweden every year so any lesser quality song could not go through.
If felix sandman wins it would be the first time since 2013 that i’m happy with the melfest winner. None of the swedish acts of the last years were bad but they just left me cold while there were many songs i liked in the selection.
Benj will surely win juries vote but I think that televote is gonna be between shuffla and felix. Still think it will be enough for Benj to win which is deserved
LIAMOO for the win!
Sooo will sweden send a more radio friendly version of Salvador?
This song has nothing to do with Amar Pelos Dois. If it wins, though, it will definitely show that Sweden have heard Salvador’s message after all (Robin: eat it! ahah). It is still a “manufactured” pop song, but done in a very sophisticated, simple way. My winner.
Yeah, I agree. I don’t know why, but I absolutely disliked everything about ”I can’t go on”…. Even the singer.
I liked it in Melodifestivalen. Later in Eurovision it turned into something so robotic and emotionless, to the point of making the treadmill routine look ridiculous…
Awful english-language song, Felix has the Frans-like vocals, can only mumble and do the screechy ”ooooooooh”.
Rolandz for the win (or at least LIAMOO). From the vocal standpoint, Martin’s the obvious choice.
I want him to win so bad…. The song is so touching. It’s quiet, but it also leaves a big Impact, at least for me. I didn’t pay that much Attention to Felix before the Songs were out, because I really expected something similar to what he did last year with FO&O. But as soon as I saw him at Melfest, I knew he’d be my winner. S&V are still my 1st, but Felix is a very Close 2nd. Also: He’s one of the only artists, who don’t need that super loud backing track, because he can actually sing. I’d… Read more »
Felix song is so awful, so trashy, so cliche.
Even S&V are better, because they’re in Swedish.
Any English-language song should be DQ from Melfest from now on.
S&V or Rolandz to win!
You’re so annoying. Stop bothering us here and learn how to deal with other opinions.
I am not saying your opinion is wrong, you are perfectly entitled to it, we can agree to disagree!
But Rolandz are just amazing and S&V are the male eye-candy the world needs to see.
Samir & viktor are my favourites too, but what is it with you trying to convince everybody that Felix can’t sing and that his song is cheap? That won’t Change anybody’s mind…
Yeah, this seems to have a real shot. I still think Benjamin is the most likely victor, though…just like last year, I predict the juries will vote him top and even a top three finish with the public televote could clinch him the title.
I must say that after initial disappointment, a good few of these songs have really grown on me. It’s still not a vintage year, but not as bad as some people have been saying.
Wasnât Wiktoria the big chart hit last year? âNuff said.
Go go and slay tomorrow Felix boy đ Let’s leave the trash behind!
It is welldeserved, a great song. Very mature for a 19 year old.
No AC song has been this hyped or talked about. This could be the year an AC act takes the crown?
An AC act has won the entire thing before, Robin Stjernberg did it in 2013. So if Felix were to win he would only be the second to win the final coming out of Andra Chansen
Yes, but Robin S was never a serious contender. It was a surprise win. Felix is a genuine contender for the win. The first time an AC qualifier is a contender.
