The sixth and final show of Melodifestivalen 2018 takes place on Saturday evening. And if the audience that attended the jury final on Friday has it right, then Benjamin Ingrosso is going to walk this.

The “Dance You Off” singer won the Melodifestivalen Club’s audience exit poll with 22.5% of the vote, owing to his slick moves, perfectly pitched falsetto and, lesbihonest, a rather amazing light display that transports him to his own technicolour universe.

Melodifestivalen 2018: Jury show exit poll

Wiwiblogger Deban is certainly feeling it. As he wrote in his review ahead of the final:

“Benjamin Ingrosso makes a fantastic sophomore return to Sweden’s greatest music TV show.’Dance You Off’ is a tasty slice of pop, with sassy funk sprinkles.”

“The song title invites group choreography, but Benjamin does it solo on stage. Perhaps a slight misfire. However, the falsetto vocals on this take me to the highest highs, and this pop sensation’s moves blend well with the incredible set design.”

Finishing second in the poll are three-time finalists Samir & Viktor with 15.9% of the vote.

The duo are currently #3 on Sweden’s Sverigetopplistan. Only one Melfest act — Felix Sandman — is above them (and he happens to top the charts with his number).

Wiwiblogger Bernardo was feeling their track “Shuffla” in his review ahead of the show.

“It’s anthemic, it’s current and it’s fresh,” he wrote. “Samir & Viktor may not be the best vocalists, but you can see they have clearly improved from their last two entries.”

“‘Shuffla’ is — by far — their best Melfest entry and has ‘summer hit’ written all over it. While you expect slick and polished performances from Melfest, the duo brings what Sweden needs at the moment: authenticity instead of 100% perfection. I wouldn’t mind seeing this one in Lisbon.”

The only other act to earn at least 10% of all votes is Liamoo with his song “Last Breath.”

At the other end of the spectrum, we see Polish star Margaret in 10th place with just 4.2% of the vote and Martin Almgren in 11th with 2.7%.

But it’s Jessica Andersson — a former Melfest winner and Eurovision star — who sits in last place. Her “Party Voice” didn’t go down well with fans, who awarded her just 2.4% of the vote.

Do any of these results surprise you? Do you think that the international juries will have reacted similarly to the spectators at the jury show? Let us know in the comments box below.

Sweden always play safe. If they send Rolandz they would stand out because NOONE would be like them. But again they will send a safe pop song. Nothing innovative, nothing progressive.

I think Benjamin’s song isn’t good itself, the staging helps it a lot to be attractive to watch, but without the lights, the song is boring, I would prefer Mariette, liamoo or Jessica to win, and mendez because he is from chile like me xD

Lets talk straight…Benjamins song is so generic and basic , if he wins i hope Sweden wont qualify….I would love to hear either LIAMOO (something very different and would get a good place) , John ( Beautiful song ,amazing voice ,gorgeous staging and top 10 guaranteed) or Samir och Viktor ( Funny and enjoyable) in Lisbon. Kisses <3

But you haven’t mentioned that “dance you off” is genuinely good and can easily reach top5 in May, especially if you consider the staging. Talking about non qualification is srsly pure nonsence.

Also not forget that audience poll put Felix at sixth in his semifinal and third in AC. He def did better than that with voters. Perhaps he is better on TV than on stage?

But he doesn’t actually sing those notes! It’s all backing track, it’s easy to see! A mic only performance is easy enough to find. Picking Benjamin would finally have Sweden fall foul of their rules allowing pre-recorded backing track.

Felix was 6th in his semi and went through to Andra chansen in 3rd and was a close finish to 2nd! I think he will definitely do better than what this poll suggests also his pseudo-Salvador gimmick may earn him points from some juries like possibly Portugal.

I dont want to give myself so much credit, but for the last couple years i had a feeling who would win. Like i started listening to robin last year before the final and he won, same goes with benjamin this year so i have a feeling he might take the trophy 🙂

The only act here who deserves to qualify in Eurovision to the final is Felix
Benjamin is all about the staging, nothing special at all
At least Robin’s song last year was actually nice
Felix’s voice is so beautiful and the song is the best this year

Floplix. He has barely any vocal capabilities, another Frans-like singer.
Vocally only Martin deserves something, but his song is so dull.
S&V have a song in Swedish, so why can’t Sweden use their own language once in 20 years for a change.

my choices for Sweden: [1º]LIAMOO- reminds me many things, like kanye west and etc. Portuguese televote will give him many points because many portuguese people loves rap/hip-hop, r&b. And it’s something different for other songs this year in Eurovision. [2º]Benjamin Ingrosso- someone said that music is feeling and yes I feel it! The lyrics aren’t great at all, but I don’t care I love the electronic bass! [3º]Felix Sandman- it’s different, but also reminds me sweden 2016. But WHAT i can hear a cello. Very minimalist instrumental, I’m not fan of his voice at all, but the guy can feel the… Read more »

LIAMOO – dated rap, something from the early 00s-mid 00s, Eminem’s filler track
Benjamin Ingrosso – staging is all it has
Felix Sandman – lacklustre ballad, average

Jessica Andersson – schlager extravaganza, gay-clubs are gonna be LIT
S&V – ultra-flavoured male eye-candy+Swedish language for a change

I ?? Mariette. She would get my UK 12 points whenever she enters ESC. But I don’t think this is her best entry — and I don’t think the rest of Europe would vote for For You to win. Because I want Mariette to win ESC one day: sadly, I don’t want her to win Melodifest 2018. Don’t stop believing. I think Benjamin Ingrosso will get the Golden Ticket. His song/performance is Bruno Mars meets Michael Jackson, he does a really good job. That said, John Lundvik has a really nice song and a solid performance (we know he can… Read more »

No real surprise here. People kept saying he wouldn’t win the the televote but it looks like he might win it after all. Could it be the first time in ages the juries and audience have the same winner? I wouldn¨t mind it to win actually. I still think Felix might win and will cheer..
No surprises for Jessica. She got the least amount of heart votes of all DF songs. I did say she would end up last..
