On March 13, Georgia’s Iriao released “For You”, meaning that we finally know the complete line-up for the second semi-final of Eurovision 2018.
This semi is arguably more open than the first, but Australia’s Jessica Mauboy is already emerging as a favourite. The country hasn’t left the top ten since debuting three years ago — can the Idol alum secure their first victory?
After missing the 2017 contest, Russia will be hoping that Julia Samoylova can get them back on track. And last year’s hosts Ukraine aren’t resting on their laurels, sending X Factor star Mélovin.
Waylon returns for the Netherlands. He previously came second with the Common Linnets and must surely have another top ten spot in his sights.
And he’s not the only Eurovision returnee. Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak is taking another shot at glory for Norway.
Contestants from Latvia, Romania and beyond will do their best to outshine all of them.
Precisely who will qualify is anyone’s guess. But who do you want to see make it? You can listen to each of this year’s second semi-final contestants below (or by visiting our Contestants Page). Then vote for your favourites in our poll. You can vote for as many contestants as you like, but you can only vote ONE time, so make it count.
This poll closes at 23.59 CET on 8 May, just ahead of the second semi-final on 9 May. It’s up to you. Start voting now!

Poland will win this year
How the hell are people choosing Latvia as 10th over Hungary? That’s whack
Melovin
I absolutely love Hvala Ne. My vote is for Slovenia.
TRUEEEEEEEEEE SHE SLAYS
My fav top five is 1, Norway 2. France 3.Belgum 4,Australia 5.Italy. Hej from Sweden.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like Sweden’s entry? I find it hideous :/
It is also my favourite Swedish entry since Loreen. I don’t get all the hate it gets, but I guess it is usual for Swedish entries. 🙂
Who I WANTto qualify – Serbia, Australia, Denmark, San Marino, Malta and Poland. These are the only 6 I like this semi.
Who I THINK will qualify – Russia, Denmark, Romania, Australia, Norway Moldova, Netherlands Sweden Poland and Ukraine.
I really hope that Russia Australia and Romania don’t just qualify simply because they always do!! I do like the Australian song but have to admit its pretty weak, and as for Russia and Romania……………no comment!
My Top 1-19 SF 2 Eurovision Song Contest 2018:
Qualifier Entry (1-10)
1. Australia
2. Hungary
3. Serbia
4. Slovenia
5. Netherland
6. Montenegro
7. Georgia
8. Denmark
9. Romania
10. Ukraine
Non Qualifier Entry (11-18)
11. Sweden
12. Norway
13. Latvia
14. Poland
15. Moldova
16. Russia
17. San Marino
18. Malta
I think Russia was try to playing cheats with Their Politics in the contest.
& Azerbaijan with cheap English was to try playing cheating in SF 1 ESC.
Pal match 100% sure repot.
I think in final: Sweden, Poland, Australia , Ukraine, Russia – rest I dont know half to half
Interesting to see Slovenia and Malta doing surprisingly well in this poll… I root for the Ukraine, Hungary, Slovenia and the Netherlands… I think this semi is much easier to predict. We have the sure qualifiers Ukraine, Russia (I really dislike their song this year) and Romania, those who are quite easy to predict like Sweden, Netherlands and Australia, and for the rest I’d bet on Denmark (cliché based performance), Norway (strong live performer with reputation and extra media attendance) and Poland (radio-friendly, contemporary sound coming from a country who recently can count on lots of migrants’ televotes). The remaining… Read more »
Sweden, Australia, Russia, Romania and Ukraine are so obviously qualifying…duhhh! This is ESC, they always qualify.
There is really only 6 genuine qualification places in this semi, and anyone could get them, but I’ll give my preciction (in ransoms order)
– Sweden
– Australia
– Russia
– Romania
– Ukraine
– Norway
– Netherlands
– Hungary
– Latvia
– Poland
folks you think Hungary has a chance to go through? i like it a lot,but i’m very skeptical about their chances… i just don’t believe many people would vote for this kind of music on ESC , my favs also Denmark, Ukraine and the Netherlands, these songs are so different and so nicely done!
I think it is good, but thing that it can have problems to go through. But maby. Good luck from sweden! : )
Hopefully Latvia and Romania will qualify. The entries of Slovenia and Sweden are horrible.
bitchhhh wtffffff no i respect your opinion but you are soooo wronggg romania and latvia wtfffff is wrong with youuuu sweden and slovenia are amazing lea is amazing
Of course this semi is definitely not as strong as the first one but I still enjoy the songs a lot! Rooting for my top 2, Ukraine and Hungary ??
Hey there everyone! We also have an international post on the blog! Gato’s Eurovision Poll is back for the 2018 edition! Cast your vote for both semifinals now! https://ondevaiogato.blogspot.pt/2018/03/gatos-eurovision-poll-2018-edition.html
As far as i’ml comcerned, winner would be Ukraine. Not predicting anything, just my personal taste. I understand that some people don’t get the message, because the lyrics are quite metaforical, but it’s truly meaningfull. And Melovin is great!
Enlighten the people who speak English: What does his song mean?
Ari What about that don’t you understand?))
# Desperate thoughts, your hope calls you a liar…
Fear begins to revel…
Nothing but your will sets you on fire..
Fire lasts forever….

You can see that whatever the weather
That the wind’s always there, always fair.
And it has always been now or never
The decision has got to be made…#
It’s like a put together a bunch of random words he can’t pronounce but thought he sounded fancy with them. Next.
Ari: FYI I have addressed this issue in Ukraine’s song review, which will appear in April below the Wiwi Jury review. There are several interpretations of the English lyrics, actually.
I am with Ari on this one. I am usually good with metaphors and I like when lyrics play with them. I mean, Blackbird and Occidentalis Karma were both totally sung in metaphor and those were my favorite 2017 songs. This year, I love metaphors used by France, Italy, Montenegro, Armenia, Greece, Portugal and Belgium, for instance. With Ukraine, I have no idea what is the metaphor nor what is the topic of this song. It’s either very well hidden in layers or it’s just, as said by Ari, nonsensical, and meant to distract an average viewer by thinking there’s… Read more »
Ari I am sure that you are russian or from Eastern Europe bc I understood the meaning of the song. But yes, not a very suitable song for this contest
Wrong. I’d take any challenge concerning my command of English against you, dear.
Im not a native english speaker but i uderstand the meaning of his song very well… ‘no matter what believe in yourself’ great lyrics and performance!
Melovin is one of my fav artist this year for sure:))
Well i would say the song has hidden meaning! Because the words themselves stay hidden, the way he pronounces them

San Marino…… please yes I know maybe you would like – but they have not too many chances – how many votes will be in televoting for San Marino……. or Serbia could be also not enough in tele…… MOldova this year will be also different than last one …..
I would just like to clarify that this is my prediction for how I think the running order to go, not my personal ranking 🙂
I think it is going to be between Australia, Norway and the Netherlands.
Ukraine will be high but not first.
The Netherlands will be a dark horse, fans are not into this type of music but it’s doing well on betting odds and it will surprise us in the rehearsals/.
My 2 lists, one personal and the other what is considered as the public vote one:
I wish it would be:
1. NLD’s
2. Denmark
3. Moldova
4. Georgia
5. Norway
6. Serbia
7. Slovenia
8. Malta
9. Latvia
10. Hungary
———————————–
I guess it would be:
1. Sweden
2. Australia
3. Russia
4. Ukraine
5. Norway
6. The Netherlands
7. Poland
8. Hungary
9. Romania
10. Denmark
That’s even harder than the 1st semi for me. Russia has many chances to win the semi, then I would go with Sweden and Ukraine. Also, I never count Australia out.
Exatly! They would be very lucky to get through the semi…
A less strong semi than sf1 but it still is good and very exciting because we can’t really predict who will qualify. The only sure qualifiers are Australia, Ukraine and Sweden. The others are really close to each others.
Anyway, I’m also running a poll about Eurovision 2018. You can now vote for the semi-finals with the 12 points system. You can vote and find all informations here:

My top in this semi-final:
1. The Netherlands
2. Ukraine
3. Denmark
4. Sweden (the song is good, but Justin Bieber’s voice….It’s a little annoying)
5. Maybe Poland or Slovenia, or Hungary………………………………………..
…………………….
Russia and Moldova are the worst
I love you Dean! Your top five are awful though, with the exception of The Netherlands which are also my number one.
I will literally LOVE how people will get angry after Romania qualifies and keeps their qualification streak going, i’m going to die laughing hahah
Lol, why would they be angry?
Because most people have Romania in 15-18th position and their qualification would mean one of their Top 10 didn’t get through
I like only three songs there: Denmark, Ukraine and Poland and maybe Latvia, Australia and Sweden…
Clearly the weaker semi…
Only three songs I like 1. Australia 2. Sweden 3. Ukraine
The others…………Nope!
Soo happy that Slovenia’s not under-rated again <3
it still is if you ask me i mean lea is the best
My qualifiers are Australia, Denmark, Sweden,Ukraine, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland,Malta,Russia,Norway
My winner for this semi:Australia
Last Place:Hungary (Last place overall in my top as well)
Who I think will qualify: Sweden, Australia – will receive high scores from the jury, also Sweden will get points from Norway and Denmark. Denmark – televoters love epic folk songs + votes from Norway and Sweden. Norway – because Rybak is still famous, will get points from Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Ukraine. Ukraine – televoters love strange young guys with impressive stagings. Will fight for a place in the finals: The Netherlands. Russia – no luck with the composition of the semifinal, there are no Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan, who could guarantee a place in the final, with a mediocre… Read more »
I forgot about Poland in the second half of my list.
Only 6 of my Top 10 are in the Top 10 here!
The other 4 are 11-14! Aargh
Running order – how it can go:
SEMI-FINAL 2
1. Australia
2. Romania
3. Russia
4. Denmark
5. San Marino
6. Netherlands
7. Norway
8. Serbia
9. Moldova
10. Georgia
11. Ukraine
12. Montenegro
13. Slovenia
14. Sweden
15. Hungary
16. Malta
17. Latvia
18. Poland
My prediction for running order
1.San Marino
2.Russia (not good draw)
3.Denmark
4.Serbia
5.Norway
6.Romania
7.The Netherlands (not goods song before and after them)
8.Moldova
9.Australia (EBU baby. Npt good song before and after them)
10.Georgia
11.Poland
12.Hungary
13.Slovenia
14.Ukraine
15.Latvia
16.Sweden (not good song before and after them)
17.Montenegro
18.Malta ( they have good conection with many HOD, and they get many points from juries)
I consider Moldova to be a very good entry. With proper staging expect it at the left side of the scoreboard.
They are good, but Netheralands and Australia is better in quality of song for juries.
I remember you also said Australia would be place later in first half last year and even Sweden. However, they got placed 3rd last year.(One of the worst running orders in Eurovision history) Your prediction means nothing.
They put Australia 3rd, and Sweden to open, when many predict before draw, taht they wili sang last of first or second half of their semi. And after that Sweden got good draw in final, and Australia woudl be better draw (but they saw that Australia was poor result with televote that year).
Your speculation is not believable at all. Who the heck would care what people predicted for the running order? It’s more like your personal dislike for Sweden and Australia. Just admit it!
My prediction is as follows: Australia, Denmark, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine (alphabetical order).
Someone should investigate Malta’s relationship with Luxembourg and Slovakia between 1992 and 1996, honestly.
Also Malta and Azerbaijan and San Marino relationship
Running order decide host producer , and aprove EBU reference group and in that group is HOD or past HOD . But host producer is so close with EBU in fixing the draw.
I really don’t get the hype around Sweden. This song is so average!
But yeah, many people said Sweden was their favourite when the country didn’t even choose a song yet… :/
Guess if it would be “Our Choice” (Icelands song), it still would be the winner :/ Haha, even if it would be the worse song in the world, everyone would say “Oh, Sweden, sooo coool, definitely one of my favourites!”
Do You remember Anna Bergendahl?
Yes…She didn’t qualify, that’s true, but as always people were saying it was their fav :p
Sweden’s song is ok when you listen to it first few times, after that you realise it’s a bit bland and repetitive, at least that’s how i see it. But most people will hear it only once, so i guess it’s good for Sweden, just not very ambitious
I’m not saying it’s a bad song, it’s just very average. Enough to like it, but not enough to be the best.
And – as you say – most people will hear it only once, so, compared to other songs, I don’t think televoters will love it as much as Eurovision fans.
Oh it will qualify and people will vote for it, it’s catchy and well produced, but does it mean that it is a great song?
For me it’s a nice song, just not very ambitious or original
I’m sorry but this year Sweden has only 2 or 3 good songs. And even these 3 songs are average comparing to other Eurovision songs.
I like Ingrosso’s performance though.
Mmmm one must be tone-deaf to think this is a great song. I’m always the first one to support Sweden when they send a great song (Loreen & Mans) but last year and this year is really booooooring and average, not to say crap by Swedish standards. But it will qualify off course. IKEA and H&M are crap too, but people buy it /).
I really wonder whether “Dance You Off” would be the first on this poll if it was sent by Latvia or Moldova. Of course, many like the song as it is, but I am not sure there aren’t those who just prefer Sweden in general.
Also, really surprised by the support Ukraine has (to the point he actually might win this semi) because his diction needs improving and even if he sang clearly, I still couldn’t tell what this song is even about.
They wouldn’t send something like this. With that staging?? Only Sweden can do it 😀 The whole act is too modern for fans to appreciate in my opinion. Well, the international juries and the swedes who voted for it certainly got it! And it’s high in the chart as well. Then it can’t be that terrible.
It’s not terrible at all, it’s just very average. The staging is top notch (even if too expensive, which can make it distractive), but other than that, the song is just there. Sure, it’s not bad, but I ask would it be a favorite if the name Latvia is standing next to it?
If it had that staging… Yes it would be a favorite in the poll even if Moldova sent it.
Kris – I don’t think so. It’s just the country’s name which makes people automatically think it’s awesome.
Va, är inte du från Sverige Ann? Hur menar du?
I think a lot of people think in terms of “brands” – it’s like “i associate a product of this or that brand with high quality, and that’s why I will buy it” – that’s how it works even if their products aren’t always that great, or products of other brands are better.
I think it works the same for certain countries in Eurovision – people subconciously associate those countries with quality
I would rather watch Michael Jackson.
MJ to ESC. That would have been something extra. : )
Fr – exactly! Sweden, Russia, Australia…Especially Sweden.
It works even when it comes to coutries which people associate with bad quality. San Marino, Poland, Moldova…They must really have great/catchy/special songs to make someone think they’re doing “ok”.
Sadly, I have to agree. The whole Eurovision is a bit like a PR show, it’s not only about music. Add to that promoting certain songs with political message (for example France this year) and creating an impression in the audience that “me, an intelectual with great taste should vote for that” 😉 I just think it’s sad because it should be just about music
Fr – it would be much easier if people didn’t know from which country a song is, but that’s impossible :/
I think so too. Sure, a bit of ‘luck’ is needed, but Crisalide failed to even qualify, while song like Sound of Silence ended-up second. I am not sure, but I believe that Sweden would be a borderline qualifier in this semi if the staging was reversed to 1980s equipment and if there was no country name next to the song. However, those two things elevate it to the point it’s one of potential semi winners. PS. Of course that staging IS important and it can elevate the song, but that’s only to a point. It can make a 4… Read more »
I liked “Sound of Silence”, but “Color of your life” for example! In jury’s opinion it was one of the worst songs in the final, while the televoters thought it should be on the 3rd place. Obviously, people liked the song, while the jury ignored it because of the country it represented.
I liked the Sound of Silence too (8/10, I guess), but some 10/10 songs like Crisalide or Blackbird didn’t even qualify, while this ended-up second, so the disproportion exists. Color of Your Life was good. Maybe a tad cheesy, but he sold it very much. Juries didn’t really recognize his excellent vocals and really pleasant composition, which wouldn’t happen if the song was from Russia, for instance.
Color of Your Life was really dated and sounded like it came from the 80s. It was underrated by the juries, but it didn’t deserve a 3rd place from the juries either.
azaad – it was supposed to sound like it came from the 80s. That’s his style. Not everything must sound modern.
I’m not saying it was the best, but it was definitely ignored by the jury.
Colin – that’s true. I was shocked when I heard the verdict.
Collin, I disagree whith your thoughts. I think it is the opposite. Many hard core fans are so fed up whith us and think «no more Sweden» . You will probably see that this year when we get the results from OGEA and than campare whith the result 10/5 Everybody have so high expectation on sweden and a lot of esc – fan have their own favorite from mefest whitch make them anry when their favorite did not win. I think we need to have a song that The esc-fans liked the most if we shoud get support here om… Read more »
I love this semi final more than the first one my favourites here are Denmark, Norway, Hungary, Georgia, Netherlands, Serbia, Ukraine.
I think Norway win the televote here. Maybe the jury vote, too. A lot of my favourites are at the bottom of this poll…I hope at least one surprises! #inje
Have no doubts that Sweden Ukraine and Australia are gonna be in GF like 100%
others are very hard to predict, really don’t know who will through this semi, good luck to everyone!
My qualifiers for this semi are The Netherlands, Ukraine, Hungary, Latvia and Denmark. I can’t pick 5 more! Sweden’s song is below average, but it will probably be the winner of this semi. The irony!
My prediction: 1. Sweden 2. Ukraine 3. Norway 4. Australia 5. The Netherlands 6. Hungary 7. Denmark 8. Russia 9. Romania 10. Serbia 11. Poland (can go either way with Serbia) 12. Malta 13. Latvia 14. Montenegro 15. Moldova 16. Georgia 17. Slovenia 18. San Marino My top 18 1. Hungary (7/43) 2. Serbia (9/43) 3. Denmark (10/43) 4. Montenegro (11/43) 5. Russia (14/43) 6. Ukraine (16/43) 7. I’d go with your preference rather than prediction, but either way, I at least expect for Denmark to qualify, probably Hungary too.
#TeamDenmark
#TeamHungary
#TeamMontenegro
I think your prediction I’d pretty spot on!
Except I’d put Poland higher and shift the 9/10/11 battle to between Serbia, Hungary and Romania.
Sweden’s obviously gonna win this semi lol
Jessica Mauboy all the way
As much as I don’t like Sweden’s song, we all know it’ll be there. I hope Hungary makes it, though. I want more metal in ESC
The most catchy and hyped in this semi is Ukraine for sure, he is very wierd and mysterious young artist, i like to watch him on stage:)
I’m so sad with Norway entry this year, Alex is an amazing performer but his song is so bland and boring, im afraid he could stay in semi, Sweden is nice though Robin was better last year, Poland, Slovenia,Latvia,Australia and Malta are good i think, and Waylon is great!
I’m only listening to Australia and Sweden. After the show I will still continue to as well as some others in semi final 1.
I don(t like enough songs from this semi to make a personal Top 10 but my favorites are: Hungary, Latvia, Ukraine, Slovenia and Netherlands. I really do not get the hype around Poland, Denmark and Australia – I heard the polish entry at least five times so far and am still unable to remember anything from it, same goes for Australia. The Danish entry feels like a re-heated Melfest hit from the early 2000’s, that is, desperately old-fashioned. Serbia’s ‘Nova Deca’ seems to be following the same pattern in its vein. Anyway, let’s wait and see since we know that… Read more »
Only few songs i can listeining in this semi with kind of joy, Poland, Denmark,Ukraine and Sweden…very plesant to watch and listen, though i dont hate others songs, maybe they will grow on me after live show
polish song can do surprisingly well this year
I don’t see the appeal with the Ukrainian song.
Song is so dump.. They should have chosen Leyla (Tayanna), song is unique and in ukranian, miles better than melovin..
Stefjov Seriously ??)) The worst parody of Beyonce, which I’ve ever heard
Which beyonce song is even close to be similar to tayanna’s?
Me neither, but I guess it’s up to individual taste
Norway is definetly Q people know him and will smash the tele ote
Sweden is Q (not cuz of the song) alot of scandi countries here that will vote for them as they aways do
Australia is Q , will get support from the nordic countries aswell
Hungary is Q , personal favorite and if that is my favorite , this shows the quality of that semi ,..
The netherlands is Q , cuz it has 5 more slots to fill
The other 5 slots , just pick a random country and place its name on the free slot.
This semi feels like a battle for the right side of the board on the finale , if you wonder how it will look like , just wait this semi and add the Big 5.
