She’s not just the “funny girl”, y’all. Latvia’s Laura Rizzotto is working overtime ahead of her moment in the Eurovision 2018 spotlight. She’s also competing and performing at the Riga Jazz Stage contest from April 4-7.
And as part of that contest, she’s released a new, dreamy cover of “Dream a Little Dream of Me”:
Laura Rizzotto — “Dream a Little Dream of Me”
There’s no revamping the track here — after all, who would touch such a classic? Instead, this is all about showing off Laura’s vocal.
The tender, jazzy tones are a great contrast to the drama behind “Funny Girl”. There’s definitely going to be no worries about vocals when we get to Lisbon!
Riga Jazz Stage
As mentioned, Laura’s cover is part of her entry to the Riga Jazz Stage contest. Formed in 2004, the festival sees artists from all over the world enter to compete, in hopes of winning one of the top prizes.
This year’s contest also includes a web vote section, where fans can support their favourites. Laura’s entry can be found here for those wanting to give her some pre-ESC love.
In fact, Laura isn’t the only name that Eurovision fans will recognise from the contestants. Estonia’s Laura Põldvere is also competing in this year’s contest (you can vote for this Laura here)
Laura joins PreParty Riga
The jazz festival stage won’t be the only one in Riga that Laura takes to before Eurovision. She’s now been confirmed as the third 2018 act to be joining the annual Eurovision PreParty Riga, taking place on March 24.
She’ll be joined at the Crystal Club by previously announced acts Mikolas Josef, DoReDos, and Amber.
Also confirmed today is Lithuania’s Ieva Zasimauskaite, who’ll help to bring some more Baltic realness to the show!
