Minsk calling! OGAE Belarus has awarded 12 points to Israel’s Netta in the OGAE Poll 2018 of international Eurovision fans.

It’s the second perfect score in a row for the Israeli singer and her upbeat track “Toy”. Last year’s winner Francesco Gabbani rapidly built up momentum as clubs revealed their votes.

OGAE Belarus gave 10 points to France’s Madame Monsieur and 8 points to Belgium’s Sennek. Those are the first points France and Belgium have received in the poll.

Sweden’s Benjamin Ingrosso took 7 points and Czech Republic’s Mikolas Josef received 6.

Three more countries also received their first points in the voting: EstoniaNorway and Cyprus. Belarus’s own act Alekseev has yet to receive any points from juries.

You can see the full votes from OGAE Belarus below:

12 – Israel
10 – France
8 – Belgium
7 – Sweden
6 – Czech Republic
5 – Bulgaria
4 – Italy
3 – Estonia
2 – Norway
1 – Cyprus

OGAE POLL 2018 SO FAR

Israel is in the lead with a perfect score of 24. Czech Republic and Sweden both follow on 12. Behind them are France and Finland, which follow with 10 points apiece.

Several countries OGAE France voted for received no points from Belarus. Finland, DenmarkGreece and Austria all received nil points.

OGAE POLL 2018 SCORES SO FAR

Israel 24
Czech Republic 12
Sweden 12
Finland 10
France 10
Australia 8
Belgium 8
Bulgaria 8
Denmark 7
Italy 6
Greece 4
Estonia 3
Norway 2
Austria 1
Cyprus 1

Countries that are not listed have yet to receive any points from voting clubs.

Whether this year’s OGAE Poll predicts the winner of Eurovision 2018 remains to be seen. In eleven years the poll has only correctly picked the winner four times and in three of those cases (2009, 2012, 2013) many fans believe the winner was a foregone conclusion before the Contest began.

There are over 40 OGAE fanclubs across Europe, including nations who have withdrawn from the contest such as Andorra and Turkey. They’ll reveal their scores in the coming weeks as we draw closer to the contest.

Pure fans from Israel. Their expetation are so high now and I m little bit worried what they are going to do if Israel even will not be in TOP 10 (and I think she will get even worser result than last year Italy).
Song itself is so-so. Performer is not very talented (we have millions of fat girls with same voice actually). So just calm down and wait real results – please dont cry a lot after final- eurovision is not most important thing in your life. :):)

It amazes me how uncomfortable Israel’s song makes people. Whether it be because of political ideology, the chicken, or the message. I tend to lean towards the message and how men gonna hate! Hope she does well! Clearly the message is important!

Agreed. I will not vote for her, but we must admit she brings something different/new (looper), something “old” (flashy 80’s exuberant style), good message without boring moral, good mood, heady melody : great ingredients for victory. It would be interesting if several artists were exuberant this year; maybe the “schock effect” wouldn’t focus on her. I think people are ashamed to admit that they actually like it. 🙂 If it’s pure politics, it’s so sad… Please people vote for a MUSIC you love, a song that makes you feel something (happiness, sorrow, doesn’t matter), but not simply against a governement… Read more »

Israel’s win would be an offense to music. Not because it is a bad song, but we all know it would win just because a social message promoted so often nowadays. I think it’s time to go back for an Eurovision SONG Contest. I just hope music wins this year. So I don’t want any political, social or any message to beat the music, it’s good to have strong messages in the contest, but let’s rank them musically. Let’s see what will do the Eurovision juries about it, this is a type of situation for why they were invented, otherwise,… Read more »

You’ve just said Toy is not a bad song. So you like it musically. You are biased and have a problem with the message, as long as you admit is not bad musically.

WW1 vs WW2
Lisa Angell vs Jamala
Why Lisa Angell – ”N’oubliez Pas” was so low, and Jamala won?
Because Lisa had a lazy ballad.
Netta will win, she has the right song. MUSICALLY.

I like the song. I think it’s a good song and it would be a worthy winner.
My favourite this year – France has a stronger political and social message than this song about women don’t allowing themselves to be used by men. I like the song for the song itself, not just for the message.
Israel has a contemporary unusual cool song. If the jury votes for it, it means they have an open mind. Unfortunely they always vote for ballads, which is a very old fashioned way of thinking.

Netta will win, theres no chance for the crying refugees to win. Netta all the way. I don’t look at esc to cry. Doron Medalie is a genius he knew this song should be uptempo, not an requiem. Is a social problem, but Medalie knows it should not be a victim’s song. Netta can’t lose even if she tries .

Israel’s song is like a publicity stunt to try and win people over by using the #metoo movement. I see it as the #whataboutme or #Lookatme attention grabbing song. The music video is good due to the dancers and choreography but Netta alone doing her moves is not very good. On stage she will be standing on behind that looper maybe shaking her bottom while the dancers do their thing. Maybe her staging will be standing in a fighting/battle ring. I mentioned on another post that Israel’s receiving the most views on YouTube is a good indicator of making it out of the semi. I should clarify it a bit: no, I’m not saying that it means everyone who watches it enjoys it, nor am I saying that it means it’ll win. Knowing what happened with Italy last year, I, like many others, remain cautious. We should also consider how it could get views from non-Eurovision countries. There’s: – Eurovision-friendly countries (Brazil, Mexico, China, USA) – Jews, and lots of them, in and out of Israel – Ugandans – Former… Read more »

Reasons why they are compared: 1. Both have animals (gorilla vs chicken). 2. Both have social topics with somewhat deep meanings (Italy has a lot so I’m not gonna name them all vs #metoo). 3. Both lyrics are cleverly written (debatable tho). 4. Both are most viewed. 5. Both have somewhat Asian influence/inspirations: – signature outfit is kimono (the cover pics). – Italy with namaste, Buddha etc.. vs Israel with Japanese word „Baka“ and Pickachu. 6. Both are topping the odds and polls. 7. Both are hyped. 8. Both have signature moves (Italy with waving the hands vs Israel with… Read more »

It’s not a bad song and it’s in my Top 10. But it won’t win…I wouldn’t mind if it did! But it won’t. It’s the fanwank of the year, in the same vain as Italy last year, France and Russia the year before etc. It gives me the same vibes as Frank Gabbani last year, plus its lyrics won’t appeal to everyone…not all boys are “stupid”. It will score high but I’m sure the winner will be someone else. It might be Bulgaria or Australia actually….

Charles- On the contrary, the Eurovision Song Contest has to bring songs with a message and meaning. Music has a lot of genres. Not every song must be serious in order to win the competition. Who are you to determine what is qualitative and what is not? It all comes down to personal taste. Since the members voted for their top 10 you can definitely see the type of songs they prefer. Israel, Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland and Australia (and cyprus) have the same fan base so they end up being on top when you ask for the top 10 BUT if all of them get in the final the votes will either spread or concentrate in just one song because fans end up voting just for their absolute favorite…. Apparently only 57 members voted in the Ogae Belarus club. While there were 225 members in the Ogae France.
This does not give an accurate prediction of the winner in May. Italy last year won the Ogae poll in a landslide but failed to reach top 5 in the final.

This year I think that anyone of the bookies top 10 has a chance of winning. It is now up to their live vocals and staging. A darkhorse might end up winning if they can impress us all in May. I really don’t have a clue at this stage

Denis I agree, I don’t think mainstrem escviewers will accept the chickensound and focus on the metoo message – the first times they hear it. They will not hear all the good things about the song – just because of the sounds.

Oh FOR SURE the first thing they will notice are the chicken sounds when they will hear it for the first time. I doubt that the message will be delivered in first strike, the chicken sounds might even overshadow the #metoo message. They most likely think it’s a fun/silly/bizarre upbeat song.

Israel is so overrated. But not more than Sweden, though.

Czechia, France, Denmark and Belgium deserve to get a lot of points.
