In their song “Tu Canción”, they sing that they feel like their dancing for the first time. And yesterday Spain’s Alfred & Amaia ticked another first off their list: Performing live in London.

The duo – known to Eurofans as #Almaia –performed their Eurovision songs and two solo songs at the London Eurovision Party 2018 last night.

Between soundchecks Alfred & Amaia also found time for an interview with wiwiblogger William.

ALFRED & AMAIA TALK “TU CANCIÓN” WITH WIWIBLOGGS

In the interview Spain’s Eurovision act discuss their overnight stardom in Spain. The pair come across as totally adorable and totally down to earth. Alfred says that for him the gruelling “promotion” tour has been the hardest part of their journey since #OT17. For Amaia, it’s journalist questions about their relationship.

They also talk about their staging for Eurovision. Although #Almaia are sworn to secrecy, they can tell us the performance will be “natural”. That’s because they still see themselves as a normal couple, who do normal things, like go to the cinema.

Alfred also reveals the duo are working with noted Spanish artist, photographer and art director Ernesto Artillo:

“I’m very involved with the outfits. I love Bowie, I love Michael Jackson, I love to do styling and to dress good. Ernesto Artillo is doing great things with us.”

They also shared some behind-the-scenes information about the video shoot for “Tu canción”.

In the video, the sweet Spaniards take flight, aided by harnesses.

“The harnesses hurt! I was bruised black and blue. But it was beautiful,” reveals Amaia. Beauty is pain and our girl gets it!

Fans hoping they’ll bring the harnesses to Lisbon, may be disappointed however. Alfred points out artists like Harry Styles have used harnesses in videos, but don’t on stage, so #Almaia won’t take flight on stage in Lisbon.

You can watch their performances from the London Eurovision Party below and all the other artists’ performances in the playlist too.

Do you even think before writing? Seriously some of you see a threat everywere. There are LGBT couples and heterosexual couples, the sooner you get it the sooner you’ll be happy. Why do you think this is homophobe? Such a nonsense.

I shouldn’t be replying to the angry-about-everything trolls, but you guys are crazy.

HAHAH these people commenting under me 😀 Why giving this much importance to the fact if they are couple or not? Not a couple contest. Music is feelings and even if they were a fake montage but they will still deliver those feelings, there’s nothing you can do against it. People has very little time to make up its own mind between the grand final show and the voting revealing. First listen. First impression. Sue EBU maybe LOL. At the end of the day, every artist acts a bit. Seems that some of you find truthness so tough to deal… Read more »

So many people wishing them to break up??! WTF. You guys are terrible, no wonder why eurovision fans have such a bad reputation. These two young kids are living their fantasy, let them alone.

Almaia: you go guys, I love your song and I am sure you will be Top 10, maybe around a 7th-8th position which is very good <3

My prediction , another flop for Spain. In final from 16 to 21 place. San Marino 2015 had similar duet and for me better song then this spanish song, and singers have charisma, not unnatural charisma as have spanish duo this year in Eurovision.
We saw that OGAE eurovision fans don t vote so much for Spain, and Spain can go to TOP 10 only with huge massive support from televote.

Obviously you have not seen OT. Tell me who is capable of doing a character 24 hours a day for more than three months. Either it is real or they are the best actors in the history of Spanish television. And this last thing I doubt a lot because Amaia lies very badly.

The funniest thing about the haters is that they always talk without bothering to take a view if what they saying is true or not. I might not like them as a couple because they are very cheesy, but you can’t deny they are a real couple. Go spread your hate elsewhere.

They clealy struggle with english and they’re also so inside their bubble to answer certain questions in the best way possible that would only be properly answered by someone who watched from the outside. Heck, they still can answer some other questions, but don’t let them talk about the origins of this, basically don’t let them alone talking about themselves, I don’t think they enjoy that part. The songwriter (quite fluent in english) could be with them and actually give a deeper approach to these questions. Not just because he wrote it, but he also was another watcher of this… Read more »

IThis couple is not false but neither in any place does it appear as a rule that a duo of singers have to be evaluated by their personal life. That would never have happened if the couple had been Swedish, Bulgarian, … or from other countries that we have to see how they humiliate the rest occupying the first positions of the ranking without even knowing their songs. The pathetic thing is to hear how many of those people who hate Spain, when they are here in summer, talk about their beautiful sun, beautiful beaches, monuments, people and especially people,… Read more »

I wanna give them a shoutout for daring to sing 100% live and play their own instruments instead of the instrumental track (and sounding great!) while most of the other acts sang over the playback. Too bad the audience was so disrespectful of all the artists.

“Love always wins” is a phrase that is often used in support of same-sex couples

Yet this song and their performance of it is one of the most heterosexual things I’ve ever seen ?

A lot of couples out there don’t even get to have the privlege of safely getting away with using love as a gimmick.

What is their love even fighting against exactly?

To the question: “What is their love even fighting against exactly?” It is obviously a love theme song, yes, but to me (from my personal understanding) this is a free interpretation song. That’s why it’s precisely called “Tu Canción”. It’s an invitation to make it your song and feel it the way you want. Also it is an obvious dialogue between two. So here comes the turning point of the melody: “…solo quiero…” (I just want)… tu CANCIÓN. Fill this “canción” with whatever you want (comprehension, respect, love, friendship, support from some family member, whatever) and you will see every word… Read more »

Exactly, a masterkey meaning The chorus itself is the consequent reaction, the moment of expressing their feelings (sung by both) It is a friendly handshake, a verbal agreement, a kiss in the forehead, any human sincere exchange That’s what I feel when I hear their voices, especially Amaia’s one, it’s like a warm embrace to me Well actually Amaia’s voice dazzles me so I quite understand those who say they feel asleep with this song, live performance will sure make a difference 😛 I read some people saying this turns to be more as a movie theme or even musical… Read more »

I forgot to say I actually don’t care that much about their relationship. I mean I got to know they are a couple but as they will not be there on stage for 15 minutes explaining how they relationship evolved, so it’s unmeaningful. The song has an impact on me that has nothing to do with their relationship which I completely respect and I understand that it is the origin and inspiration of this. So the only thing I care about is music and this is a very good one. Their chemistry is not based on sexual interaction but in… Read more »

Some may feel envious if they see this as a competition because of Spain being one of the most watched, but they should take into account that Spain has many people from all the latin american countries behind them. I know it’s sometimes unrealistic and the same goes for polls in here. That’s why the mocking with the “spanish flop” myth after the show takes heat. EBU should invite 2 or 3 latin american countries so there’s also the latin block with cultural connections with European latin countries. For example, Argentina (Italy/Spain) Brazil (Portugal) Colombia or Mexico (Spain) or French… Read more »

Well, I’m relatively new on this online community (I’ve been watching Eurovision for quite a while, but without participating on online discussions about it), but I feel that there’s a cultural component on this animosity. Maybe it’s the fact that latin people are more passionated about what they like and dislike, or just the way we express our feelings.

It is hyped maybe because romance between the likes of them (their looks, age, and so on) sells well to their target audience. It’s like soap operas and romance movies which are still well liked by many kinds of viewers, which in turn made Amaia amd Alfred their love idols. As for me, I am not a fan of them but this kind of ‘gimmick’ persists almost everywhere in various media.

Oh i find it ok if you do articles on Saara cause you’re based in UK and she’s a big name there.

But I hope sincerely that this article is followed by an article explaining the nuances of your Interview with Vanja from Montenegro! Cause this literally is in-credible

Cause writing a useless article on what we can already watch on youtube only for one entrant is too much partiality especially when the particular entrant is not a favorite of many in UK or people in general.

Keep claiming this “soap opera” thing, while they don’t want to sell anything about this. Maybe some fans, but not them. It’s all about music, music, music. Believing in their talents. Played an accoustic version in here, didn’t even hold their hands one single time. If you get to know they are a couple, that’s fine, but you don’t need to know in word to feel this song, they have to catch you with what they profess for each other, in order to (maybe) have the necessity to hold your hand with your pair or someone you appreciate at home… Read more »
