Tirana. Dublin. Budapest. Three more OGAE fan clubs. Three more sets of points. And three more perfect scores for Israel’s Netta

Hungary also broke ranks with its lower marks, putting Belarus (5) and Ukraine (3) onto the scoreboard.

OGAE POLL 2018 SCOREBOARD

While Israel has opened up a big lead, the rest of the top 5 are jockeying for position, with only 16 points between second place France and fifth place Czech Republic.

The margin between 5th and 10th is also slim. Just five points separate Mikolas Josef and tenth place Benjamin Ingrosso from Sweden.

You can see the full leaderboard below:

1st Israel – 84 points
2nd France – 40 points
3rd Finland – 36 points
4th Australia – 30 points
5th Czech Republic – 24 points
6th Italy – 23 points
7th Cyprus – 21 points
8th Bulgaria – 21 points
9th Estonia – 21 points
10th Sweden – 19 points
11th Greece – 19 points
12th Denmark – 17 points
13th Belgium – 16 points
14th Norway – 8 points
15th Austria – 8 points
16th Spain – 6 points
17th Germany – 5 points
18th Belarus – 5 points
19th Ukraine – 3 points

The following countries have not yet received any points: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, F.Y.R Macedonia, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, The Netherlands and United Kingdom.

The OGAE Poll 2018 results should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt. They’re a more accurate barometer of fan opinion than how acts will actually fare during the semi-finals and Grand Final.

“Favorites” of this year are failing live.
Israel doesn’t deserve 12 points, their live performance was huge mess.
Belgium and Macedonia had terrible live performances too.
Best live performance: Albania, Italy and Spain.

OGAE isn’t even representative of the wider ESC fandom. If you look at a breakdown of youtube tops, Netta’s lead is considerably smaller proportionally (though she is still the overall favourite), Elina and MM round out the top 3 etc…

OGAE as usual following the betting odds too much. I swear in 2000 they would have probably voted Macedonia 1st.

Yeah I’m shocked that FYROM, Hungary, and Netherlands have got nothing yet.
I’ve seen lots of people like FYROM and Hungary’s songs, and doesn’t Netherlands have a pretty decent spot in the betting odds rn?

Like, realistically speaking Hungary and Netherlands will make the finals for sure (especially being in the 2nd semi), and FYROM is at least a borderline qualifier. Even if they don’t make it, they’ll probably at least be close yanno?

Many fans overrated Hungary . For me Hungary 2018 sound like Finland 2015 (and we knew who juries voted for them only 1 point from juries , Serbian juries gave them 1 point, with televote they are on 10 th place).
Hungary 2018 is not like Turkey 2010, 2011, Finland 2014, Georgia 2016,Cyprus 2016

I don’t expect Hungary to place HIGH in the finals (probably like 20th place), but I’m almost positive it’ll qualify.

The jury may not go for it, but I think enough televoters can pull it through. Not to mention that the semi is pretty weak in comparison to the first semi. There’s a handful of songs in the 2nd semi that we already know for sure won’t make it (montenegro, moldova, san marino, etc) , u feel?

10-Finland

Israel is doing extremely well in the poll. However, I’m afraid we’ll see sth like Italy 2017 slaying the OGAE poll but not winning. Nevertheless, the poll gives us an idea of how Erovision fans see the entries.

Happy for Greece and Cyprus keep gathering points.

Also, I’m surprised countries like Armenia, FYROM or Albania still don’t have any points.

You don’t know what is behind the cancellation – no artist would try to to shoot oneself in the foot by announcing a promotion tour with the purpose to cancell it. No one would be so stupid. So there must be some serious reasons behind his cancellation. The worst would be some illness that he doesn’t want to commuicate. You never know.

I would agree with you on that one…juries won’t like it as much as the tele-voters. It will likely be in the top 5 in the same way Moldova was last year. Greece will do well if they can get their staging right…usually, they do! Not so sure about Cyprus live, despite loving the song. Generally speaking, OGAE is infamous for favouring pop songs over ballads/rock songs, etc. So, don’t read too much into that!

Yeah right! Australia effect is so huge! FYI, the boring “Don’t come easy” didn’t even get into top 10 in any poll last year. For me, Australia’s entry this year is so well-produced and her vocals sell the song more with those high notes. Plus, the drum beats leading to the final part is the one big difference when it’s compared with Azerbaijan’s entry, which is plain till the end.

KESC

Ferro, relax. No one said anything bad about Australia’s entry. I like their entry as well, and I love Jessica as a singer. But c’mon, if Slovenia would’ve chosen this entry, nobody would talk about it. It would probably be in the last places with the odds, and the actual Contest. Australia’s position in the contest effects the country’s results at the contest, that’s a fact. Don’t come easy did not deseve that 9th place, the televoting results even showed the truth. Jessica, however, deserves to qualify, and I would not mind, if she reaches the TOP 15 or maybe… Read more »

Yes, Jessica sells her song better, because (obviously) it’s authentic to her and her Music.. But production wise, melody wise and lyrically both songs aren’t far away from each other. Israel is building up a kind of role we’ve seen before with Loreen and Alexander Rybak in 2009. Unless Netta is not able to put the act on halfway decent live, or someone else blows everyone out of the water by a sensational live performance i think Israel is the winner this year. Netta has already shown in other live performances she can deliver and the song is targeting a very broad base of Eurovision fans. Well I will not be surprised if Greece wins…I think it is like Portugal last year…many liked it before the contest but thought other countries were better(Italy,Bulgaria etc)…but these countries had
more haters so Portugal with less haters won in the end..Everyone likes Greece(at least 80% of the people) and in the end it might make the surprise…do you think so?

Portugal had TONS of haters, it was probably one of the most polarising Songs 2017. Everybody just went with Bulgaria and Italy… I rarely saw any negative comments about Italy especially. When you wanted to read Things about Portugal, it was probably 60% positive comments and 40% utterly negative ones. So the Options with the most haters won, because the ones that liked Portugal, liked it enough to vote. Doesn’t mean that I disagree with you about Greece, I also think they could surprise us and win it all.

And Portugal was very polarizing but it had passion which is what you need for winning. Haters can’t vote.

My 10 year esccrazy daughter, said directly when she heard Greece.

“THIS sounds like a winner Song”

I didn’t think that Polen 2016 would do well, but she did, and the same whith Moldavia and Hungary 2017.

So goodluck Greece from Sweden.

Spain is also (almost) always bottom 5 in the last year, I’m pretty sure nobody has anything against Spain. Or San Marino, Slovenia or the other countries that never qualify. Why do you even Need to attack a whole Country like that? If there’s anyone here to blame (which I don’t think, but who cares) it’s our government not our People. We don’t have to do ANYTHING with your economic Situation, so bye.

So if Germany had the best song you would not vote for it because they did not behave politically towards Greece the way you wanted them to? Don’t you think that is going exactly against what the contest is supposed to achieve?
Im not a fan of Russian politics but i did vote for Polina a few years back and felt Dima was a deserved winner. When a song and performance are good it does not matter what country has sent them in. They deserve to win.

It could indeed be an Italy 2017 OR Alternatively it could be a

Denmark 2013
Sweden 2012
Norway 2009

Actually so far Israel is not only out performing Italy 2017 in the poll it’s outperforming the 3 above as well. No entry has ever revived all 12s from the first 7 clubs to declare. Even Norway got a 10 or so here and there early on.

I forsee a 2016 situation again. Israel wins public vote and jury destroys them. What is sad, if Australia or Sweden sent this song, we’d all be certain of their victory without doubt.

If Australia sent this song, they wouldn’t win the televote, not to mention the whole contest. Didn’t you see how the televote for them in recent years? Even Dami Im only got 4th with the televote. Sweden were the only country that could win jury and televote in this scenario.

I can see Australia winning just from jury love alone. If they went from last in televote to 9th overall last year, then they could climb to the top from a higher public vote.

You should know the gaps between each top 5 televotes are big. Unless they could get into top 3 with televote, they would have a chance. However, that’s not gonna happen ‘cuz they’re not an European country.

It might be Italy 2017 all over again and it might be Norway 2009, who knows?
Norway was unstoppable back in 2009 unlike Italy in 2017 where we also had Bulgaria and Portugal as favourites to win the contest
This year I believe, the winner will be either Israel or Estonia or maybe Bulgaria with an epic staging
I think Israel actually has a chance this year as there isn’t an absolute favourite to win the contest (at least yet)

Didn’t think the votes for Salvador last year were reflective of how most people think about Jazz or Lordi of how people felt about rock/metal, either. Genres are just genres. Some songs just happen to transcend into something a bit more special. There is no “type” of music to win the ESC. Estonia might just do it.

Don’t get excited…the actual total number of OGAE voters is quite small relative to the overall public vote…they’ve been a poor predictor of the top 10 for as long as I can remember…they underrate ballads, and overrate pop songs. Take this poll as others with a grain of salt. What counts is the actual live performances on the night of the semis and final.

Israel will not win the contest. They wili be like Russia 2016, first with televote but with juries out of TOP 5 places.
Winner will be countires who are in TOP 4 with televote and juries, and I think it will be Sweden.
My prediction TOP 5 with juries
1.Belgium
2.Sweden
3.Germany
4.Australia
5.The Netherlands
TOP 5 with televote
1.Israel
2.Norway
3.Sweden
4.Czech Republic
5.Estonia
TOP 5 (juries plus televote)
1.Sweden
2.Belgium
3.Israel
4.Norway
5.Germany

It’s flattering that you think Germany (my Country) could reach the top 10, but I totally don’t see that right now. 15th place would be a success..

I think the results will be like:
Televote:
1.Israel/Estonia
2.Israel/Estonia
3.Czech Republic
4.Norway
5.Denmark/Bulgaria

Jury:
1.Belgium
2.Bulgaria
3.Estonia
4.Israel
5.Sweden

Overall:
1.Estonia
2.Israel
3.Bulgaria/Czech Republic
4.Bulgaria/Czech Republic
5.Belgium

Just a guess, could go either way.

I think Germany is dark horse this year, same as Norway maybe for win (if many eurovision fans don t thinks so). Estonia wili be in TOP 10, but I dont think that juries wili be put this song in TOP 8 (Italy 2016 with better song was only 6th with juries). Bulgaria wili be this year out of TOP 5, in TOP 10 100 %. But in 2016 we had charisma singers and catchy song. in 2017 we had charisma young singer with modern ballad. This 2018 Bulgaria don t have charisam singer or song with cathy tunes neither… Read more »

It’s so hard to predict at this stage. I can’t see Belgium winning juries + it would be rare to have a top 5 all Western. Bulgaria seems very jury friendly.. it’s polish and calculated. I think Top 5 with televote might be Israel, Norway, Estonia, Bulgaria and Czech Republic. With juries I think Israel, Czech Rep, Bulgaria and safe bets: Sweden and Australia. Random order (I’m not confident at all with these 5) Estonia is too polarizing but I can see it 4th or 5th maybe with juries. I also see France and Italy as dark horses, one of… Read more »

You said it, there is no Point. It is only die hard fans voting for favourite songs. Not every fan is OGAE member and majority of voters in ESC aren just average non-fans
Only a bit of fun indeed.

It is not meant to predict because no one can predict. It can however be used as a way to see which songs will do well on the night. If a song does well in OGAE it will most likely do well in ESC too. Exceptions of course though:)

Perhaps the pull has an inpact on the odds? And the pull and odds mait influence the juries a bit.

Denis

The odds are more influenced by performances than OGAE. Estonia is still ranked second at the odds even though it is 9th in voting.
As for the juries most of them don´t follow ESC news or polls or who should win. They aren’t ESC fans, just people who work with music. They wouldn’t know who the favourite is. Otherwise Italy, Russia or France would have won in 2015 and 2016.
