ieva zasimauskaite alfred y amaia

A couple in love, growing old together: that’s the story behind Ieva Zasimauskaite’s “When We’re Old”. It’s also the the future many fans hope for with Spain’s Alfred & Amaia. So it could only be fate that Ieva has picked the couple’s song, “Tu Canción”, as her favourite of Eurovision 2018!

Ieva revealed all in an interview with Lithuania’s LRT. “Alfred and Amaia broadcast love” is her take on the duo, as she ranked them number one in her top five.

In another clip available online, Ieva reveals that their performance was actually the first of the year she heard. “My heart was melting…those two are so cute, and so nice, and so special.” It looks like Ieva’s another member of the #Almaia fanclub, y’all!

“Tu Canción” @ Israel Calling 2018

Ieva also revealed the rest of her favourites. In second place for her is Austria’s Cesar Sampson, with “Nobody But You”. Ieva’s positives about Cesar include the fact that he’s been a vegetarian for the last 15 years! The things you find out on the Eurovision promo tour…

Ieva’s third place goes to France’s Madame Monsieur, as she praises the importance of the message behind “Mercy”.

Her top five is rounded out by fellow Semi-Final one acts Mikolas Josef and Ryan O’Shaughnessy.

“When We’re Old” @ London Eurovision Party 2018

The pre-party circuit has certainly been good for Ieva. She’s been getting lots of great reviews for her performances of “When We’re Old”, particularly in London.

Whilst the odds still don’t have her down as a qualifier, it’s only just. She currently sits in 11th place in the “to qualify” odds. With Lithuania’s historically strong qualification record, could Ieva still meet Alfred & Amaia in the final on Saturday night?

What do you think of Ieva’s top five songs? Has she impressed you at the pre-parties so far? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments section below.

Tbh I’m quite surprised that she revealed her favorites, most performers usually don’t do that.. Anyway, that’s no reason for hate comments or ”conspiracy theories”, like people will vote because Ieva said something, lol.

She has repeatedly said that she likes lyrical songs that she likes the Spanish song.

It’s not actually that unusual for an entrant to talk up their faves. It would be a lot more controversial if Ieva was talking about songs she ‘didn’t’ like. Naming her personal five favourite songs sounds absolutely fine to me.

Ieva’s song is great, it’s a masterpiece, but only spiritual people can feel the song.

Spanish media is blaming the broadcaster for bad support for Almaia. One of the accusations is that Almaia doesn’t have a translator, like Ukraine, Armenia, Russia have. I hope Spain will not spoil everything with lazy staging, like Barei’s.

Thanks Robyn for your answer! I am glad you support the song and I hope it will show in the upcoming score! In the 43 song review with William and Deban I was disappointed about how they treated the Albanian song. But it’s ok, no real complaint since erveybody is entiteled to any comment. I would have expected at least the recognition of the vocal quality and something like that you realize that he means every word he sings or something – even if it is not your kind of genre you can mention strong points like that…. and to… Read more »

By the way I didn’t read about this crazy conspiracy theory before I got your answer. I would never believe such crap. My comment was just a recognition of the fact that Spain is Williams favourite and is getting lots of attention and Spain and Campaign reme – and I wanted to make you laugh. The runners of this plattform can do whatever they want – they are putting everything in it and we are only using it. I love your work and what you are doing. And that you are all true to yourselfs that is more than obvious,… Read more »

I just want to make one final remark. Spain is big five – Albania has a bad starting position in the extremely strong SF1 – so why not give the ones who have already some disadvantages a little bit more than you did so far. Instead it is a lot of Spain-Camgaign, which is your right to do so.

Your list is wrong. Israel should be #1 there. Seriously, are people really that stupid that they like that cheap song? Or they’re biased based on that song being promoted all the way to #1 on the bookmakers?

Why is there a conspiracy theory about broadcoasters paying Wiwi to promote certain entries? Conspiracy theories usually come up because of something, what was the proof? Since I’m a lover of conspiracy theories, I really wanna know.

Whoever is saying that has no idea how PR works. Why would Lithuania’s PR pay for coverage when they could get it for free just by sending Ieva out to do some interviews? I doubt that LRT even has the budget for elaborate payoffs.

Second, how this will change the voting? Third, wiwi never liked Lithuania, they are not promoting her for sure:D. Forth, that story about irish company, why did you hired only imigrants? Do you think they worth less? Come to Lithuania and speak about the people in here then.Come to Vilnius and then speak how much ‘eastern’ we are. Same to all other Eastern European haters. In recent years many of the Spanish entries have been very divisive. You love them or hate them. Wiwibloggs use this fact to get exposure and attention. Understandably, I guess. But it still gets tedious.

Some of the songs are not on Ieva’s list… We feel upset, we think she’s wrong, we feel that’s about the right time to tell how bad she is, how bad her country is, how bad eastern europeans are as a whole. We want to celebrate unity but only with certain countries.

I believe in this world there are many people doing wrong things, breaking laws, but each country is fighting with these people. This Contest is about singing. Lithuania is a small country, so I see this girl is trying to spread message about her country not only to win, but also to get people to know at least where is Lithuania. You can say anything you want, but all cards will be revealed at voting in the semies. Most of the people do not read WiwiBlogs and they will only see the acts in Live ESC. Good luck to every… Read more »

Well following your amazing logic Ireland should forbid all the Brits living in Ireland to vote either? Many Polish, Lithuanians etc living in either UK or Ireland have been living there for 10 or more years, so surely they are equal members of the society and can vote for whatever they want.

Haha, another brexiteer. Sure that’s a “brilliant” idea 😀 Let’s all go to the polling stations on Saturday evenings to vote for the Eurovision entries 😀 FYI – There are only 3million Europeans living in the UK compared to 62million Brits. So don’t exaggerate the problem and next time try to find a better argument for why voting results are the way they are. How about Irish and British not voting at all due to the lack of interest in Eurovision?

I agree, but surely you understand that it’s not feasible and you can’t exclude those people from televoting? Plus it’s just a song contest, you don’t need to take things that seriously, it’s not as if foreigners are deciding whether Britain or any other country has to go to war or not.
