Finland, Saara Aalto, 1

Every year Norway’s national broadcaster NRK airs a pre-Eurovision show where a panel of music experts and Eurovision lovers discuss and rate the year’s pool of Eurovision entries during four programmes. During the first episode of “Adresse Lisboa”,  the panel scrutinised 10 songs. After all the points were in Finland’s Saara Aalto and “Monsters” had won the night.

About “Adresse Lisboa”

“Adresse Lisboa” consists of two panels. The professional panel includes Eurovision commentator Per Sundnes, radio host Silje Nordnes, musician and former Norsk Melodi Grand Prix contestant Stian Thorbjørnsen as well as journalist Ingeborg Heldal. The other panel is a so-called “people’s jury” that is made up of four Eurovision fans.

Both panels give points the same way as in the actual Eurovision Song Contest — from 1 to 12 — and their points are then added together.

During the first episode they reviewed Israel, Russia, Denmark, Poland, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Estonia, Armenia, Belgium and Finland.

Israel and Denmark in the Top 3

Saara Aalto’s “Monsters” managed to wow both panels the most, scoring two 10s and two 12s from the professional panel and a 12, 10, 8 and 1 from the people’s jury, bringing Finland’s score to 75 points. That put them ahead of this year’s heavy favourite Netta from Israel.

Netta was, however, hot on Saara’s heels with 72 points, while Denmark rounded out the top 3 with 66 points. At the bottom of the ranking were Poland and Armenia with only 31 and 27 points respectively.

The next “Adresse Lisboa” programme airs on Friday 20 April and you can stream it here as well as watch the first programme.

First show rankings

Finland: 75 points

Israel: 72 points

Denmark: 66 points

Estonia: 65 points

Belgium: 57 points

Hungary: 55 points

Russia: 42 points

United Kingdom: 39 points

Poland: 31 points

Armenia: 27 points

What do you think about the “Adresse Lisboa” rankings so far? Can Saara beat Netta? Let us know in the comments box below.

Again this is all just fun and not to be taken seriously. 98% of the viewers will see and hear these songs for the 1st time and it is them that will Judge the winners. The Televote is the beginning and end of many of these songs will judge on how they felt about the song on the night. It is also Sad that many vote just because they are next door neighbors of the country and not because of any Entertainment value, but using it as a strategy only. the Jury will Judge on different criteria and not only… Read more »

Yes, it seems it was all a confusion. And it looks that YLE had reached an agreement with the Debs. Good for them, they deserved to be in Lisbon.

P.S. Why does Swedish tabloids like Aftonbladet always mess up like this?

Well, they’re a tabloid.
Not entirely sure it’s their fault in this case. YLE has taken responsibility for the confusion.

With due respect but I’m sure that the majority of the Eurovision fans at home do not want most of those “Top 10 Favorites” to qualify for the Grand Final! Same old thing is happening every year (sooooo much of it, we have all became symptomatically ill now), therefore it is time to give a chance to those artists who have the potential but are different! Those artists who lack promotion, troll armies, and the diaspora vote! All I am asking for is a chance! If you decide to side with them, you will do the right thing and be… Read more »

Nothing is sure until the shows (or rehearsals at least) 🙂
I’m from Israel and I hate it when people already crown Netta as the winner, although I want her to win (as well as Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Portugal, Hungary xD)
People forget every year that it’s not just a contest, but also a party of unity and just having fun together and enjoying music

Israel doesn’t have the best song, thus Israel should not win.

I agree, Dash. I think Monsters is a great song, and I can’t really get behind Toy. It has its good bits, but a lot of annoying noises too!

Saara is a great singer. Monsters isn’t special, but she is lovely.

love Netta: the rankings are meaningless. So many songs are better than Toy or Monsters! Don’t forget Italy 2017…

I completely agree. Neither Toy nor Monsters are the best song this year. But the live performance will matter too. We know that Saara has huge presence and can wow on a big stage if she gets the staging right. Can Netta do that from behind her looper? I’m not sure. Both though have problems with their songs and namely the chorus. It is hard to match the studio with a couple of backing vocalists. We know Saara can carry her song accoustically without any backing vocals (see the multi language version) but can Netta do that with hers? That… Read more »

Okey I am pretty sure that Netta is not going to just stand behind the looper. She will only use it at the beginning. Also I am 100% sure, that she will have female dancers with her. She said at Israel calling and Amsterdam consert that this is just the performance now and at Eurovision it’s going to be different ofc. Why people think she will be just standing there, cmon they are not going to ruin this, they know they have huge advantage to win this year.

But she doesn’t dance so she will be standing somewhere. Nothing wrong with that of course, but my instinct just says too much hype. People will vote for the song that moves them in some way, and I just dont think that song does. It’s a fun pop song, but it divides a lot of opinion. Eurovision winners tend to have both the jury and televote going for them and a wide appeal accross all ages and cultures. I think Toy is too narrow in its appeal and this year is one of the strongest for a few years in… Read more »

The odds will change after that first semi-final. Odds are just a reflection of where a certain type of gambler is betting. Most people voting on the night will be hearing the songs for the first time and live. It will come down to who has the better live performance as it always does and that perhaps explains why the bookmakers favourite has not won in many a year. To win Eurovision you have to score highly with both juries and the televote. Netta might suffer when it comes to jury voting and I think this small exercise is a… Read more »

Do you really think that number 1 in odds is something special and number 5 isn’t?? How old you are just a kid I think, grow up.. Don’t underestimate other songs, odds do mean n o t h i n g, this is just betting to win money.
