In recent weeks, entries from Israel, Estonia and the UK have all been given a spin on the remixing decks. But as Eurovision comes ever closer, more and more countries are getting in the party mood. From Latvia to Lithuania, Finland to France, and Belarus to Romania, here are some of the latest Eurovision 2018 remixes.
Laura Rizzotto “Funny Girl” ([Ex] da Bass Remix)
The song is “Funny Girl”, and this is a funny kind of remix. It starts off slowly, replete with added piano and a bass undercurrent. So far, so very much in keeping with the jazz feel of the original. And then, about 40 seconds in, that’s all thrown to one side as the track drops into a deliciously dirty EDM breakdown. The video for the remix is a mashup of Laura’s official music video and scenes from a massive night club party.
Ieva Zasimauskaite “When We‘re Old” (Jovani Remix)
“When We’re Old” is perhaps the slowest of all 43 entries in this year’s contest. And the same applies to the remix. Added beats inject some extra energy, yet the song’s innate sweetness remains. Ieva’s vocals won’t have you raving like a mad thing, but they do lend themselves to some chilled out swaying. The remix is accompanied by a music video that charts Ieva’s journey through Lithuania’s epic national selection process.
Saara Aalto “Monsters” (Initial Talk and Cutmore Remixes)
Never one to do things by halves, Saara Aalto gives us four alternative versions of “Monsters”. First up is Initial Talk’s spin on her Eurovision hit. Regular consumers of pop music may already be familiar with his work – he’s the man behind the 80s mix of Dua Lipa’s “New Rules”. And true to form, he transforms “Monsters” into something that could have been a mega hit 30 years ago.
The track also lands on the mixing decks of Cutmore, who offers up a slightly more conventional dance banger, along with a radio edit. The package is completed by a 4:24 extended cut of the Eurovision version.
Madame Monsieur “Mercy” (French and English Remixes)
However, anything Saara Aalto can do, Madame Monsieur can do better… or at least more of. Where the Finnish songstress gives us four other versions of her song for Lisbon, the French duo give us five. In addition to the extended cut, which has been around as long as the original, they’ve also recorded Spanish and English editions of the track. And then there are the remixes – one in French and one in English. Language aside, they’re effectively the same mix, and like Ieva’s reworking they’re best suited for those who prefer their club experiences to be on the mellow side.
Alekseev “Forever” (Kraynov Remix)
When it comes to alternate versions, Belarus’ Alekseev is king. There have been so many iterations of “Forever” that we’ve almost lost count. Thankfully, the latest take on the track is purely for the dance floor. As remixes go, it’s definitely not the most exciting or innovative. But it does the job nonetheless. It forms part of a four song EP which also includes the Eurovision version of “Forever”, an extended Russian language mix, and “Drunken Sun” – the English version of his previous hit “Pyanoye Solntce”.
The Humans “Goodbye” (Cristian Eberhard Remix)
Romania’s 2018 entry isn’t exactly the most danceable of tracks. And even remixed “Goodbye” doesn’t serve as a beacon to the dance floor. Like Lithuania and France above, The Humans plus bass is perfect for some laid-back bobbing.
Which remix is your favourite? Are any better than the originals? Let us know in the comments below.
Remix Forever Alekseeva is the best !!! The whole album is good !!! He’s extraordinary !!!
Hell, yeeh, I said no at first but now I have it on repeat! A treat!
OMG! The remixed version of Lithuania’s song is so good! I would listen to it at radio every day!

🙂
This one’s the best!
Alekseev, nothing more I need this year.
Saara Aalto – Monsters (Finland) is the best remix! and i feel like Saara Aalto will be the winner!!
Which of the 43 countrys have we not seen a live performance yet? (not counting Cyprus because she posted a video of her singing and blew me away)
Franka?
You forgot La Forza remix
I like the remix much better. Which that would be the ESC version.
Love, love, peace, peace from Sveden
No I didn’t. I wrote about it a few weeks back, and it is also linked in the opening line of this story. But here’s the link again anyway. http://wiwibloggs.com/2018/04/06/elina-nechayeva-la-forza-estonia-eurovision-2018-dance-remix/220888/
Israel is the best! We already have a winner!!!!
Why does everyone love Belarus. Something is rigged
I love Belarus, and I am not surprised if many fans agree. Don’t be suspicius. ESC is supposed to be fun
love, love, peace, peace from Sweden
(Finns det fler nordbor som blivit ett fan av Alekseev? Helt fantastisk tycker jag. Kolla och lyssna på mer music på youtube som han gjort. Hoppas han levererar live i Lissabon : )
Trist! Tycker det lät bra live i Spanien.
You have to blame the Belarussian national final for that. Alekseev was only there to sing but the people behind the show really want him to represent their country in the first place. That’s why artists like Napoli got snubbed there.
Forever touch my soul, I feel it in my heart, make my emotions grown and explode.
Any problem with my heart and what it feels?
What about the remix of that’s how you write a song
Only those songs with low-qualification-chance, got remixed. Exception makes only Finland because Estonia is just as awful!
This comment doesn’t even make sense – Israel, Estonia & France have all been remixed, and everyone seems sure of a top 10 for them.
What? No poll? I’m very disappointed.
Hahahaha
Alekseev’s Drunken sun is awesome!!!!!
Yes, look at the video when he sings in russia. Don’t know the languge but you feel the song.
I like the Lithuanian and Finnish Cutmore ones
With this remix, Romania’s song finally isn’t boring for me! The best remix is Lithuania’s
Sweetheart Alekseev of course <3
They are all good, but he is sooo good. I hope Belarus will send him some other year to.
Love, love, peace, peace from sweden.
Alekseev all the way, but not this version, all the others, in whichever language he choses, just keep it dark and lovely!
There are so many reason why I love ESC. One is the oppurtunity to discover artists that I never would have known about if it wasn’t for ESC. I live in sweden and I would never had the oppurtunity to discover a fantastic artist and singer like Alekseev. Thank you Belatus for sending him. You should be so proud of him regardles of the result in ESC. I have reed some coments about his english. I would say that for me it doesn’t matter. The majority in europe don’t have english as their first language. The most importent is if… Read more »
So so so much agree, that’s the purpose of the contest! I love forever and adore drunken sun I consider Alexeev unique, absolutely outstanding artist, who is so different from the others same as Salvador last year. I believe music is not about production it’s about Fellings, Emotions,Life and of course Love. Sorry but “you stupid boy, I’m not ur toy” is empty for me, no metter how long they talk about impowerment. I love alexeev’s remix. He is My winner. Love love piece piece
Yes, it’s really good. Think Israel is good to. In my top 10, but Alekseev is best.
Love the melody and hope he will sing as good in Lissabon as in Madrid. The studioversion is absolutely perfect for me, but live in Israel and Amsterdam was not that good. Hope he will do his best performance Lissabon.
I want to cry, because I feel THE SAME. Alekseev deserves the final and I expect that many viewers feel his soul in his voice and support him. :’)
PLEASE, if you can vote for him, vote in my honor, because I’m so far from Europe.
If Lithuania preformed the remix version at the contest I wouldn’t be doubting their qualification.
I like Saara’s Monsters Cutmore radio edit.
Lithuania’s remix sounds the best <3
