Eurovision 2018 Male Solo Acts

Eurovision 2018 is bringing us a truckload of solo males, eager to wow with their flawless vocals. We’ve got everything from country to soft rock. Balkan balladry to funk. Justin Timberlake swag to heartfelt love songs. Everything!

It’s been a girls world lately, for in the past 20 years, only four male soloist have won the Eurovision Song Contest.

Dima Bilan for Russia in 2008, Alexander Rybak for Norway in 2009, Måns Zelmerlöw for Sweden in 2015 and, last but certainly not least, the almighty Salvador Sobral for Portugal in 2017. However, that count does not include Austria’s Tom Neuwirth, for he competed as Conchita Wurst in 2014.

So it’s about time to give the boys some more space, for they are here and ready to sweep Europe and Australia off their feet, in the hopes of becoming the man to bring it all the way home.

Fourteen male soloists are gracing the Eurovision stage with their presence this year, including two returning artists and one former backup vocal gone lead. And we’re dying to find out, who is your favourite male vocalist of Eurovision 2018?

This is a tricky one. We love them all, but we want to know what you think! Who is the cream of the crop? Don’t let those fine gentlemen wait any longer. Vote for your favourite. But take note. It’s only possible to vote once, so make your vote counts. And also share your favourite pick in the comments below.

We will reveal the results of the poll ahead of the first rehearsals in Lisbon in May.

Who is the best male solo act at Eurovision 2018? Vote now!

  1. Albania: Eugent Bushpepa “Mall”
  2. Armenia: Sevak Khanagyan “Qami”
  3. Austria: Cesár Sampson “Nobody But You”
  4. Belarus: Alekseev “Forever”
  5. Czech Republic: Mikolas Josef “Lie To Me”
  6. Denmark: Rasmussen “Higher Ground”
  7. Germany: Michael Schulte “You Let Me Walk Alone”
  8. Iceland: Ari Ólafsson “Our Choice”
  9. Ireland: Ryan O’Shaughnessy “Together”
  10. Montenegro: Vanja Radovanovic “Inje”
  11. The Netherlands: Waylon “Outlaw in ‘Em”
  12. Norway: Alexander Rybak “That’s How You Write a Song”
  13. Sweden: Benjamin Ingrosso “Dance You Off”
  14. Ukraine: Mélovin “Under The Ladder”

The best one by far is Eugent. Benjamin is such as spoiled a snake lame brat. He doesn’t show any feeling when singing. He is just horrible.

Eugent Bushpepa ( I like only his strong vocals )
Melovin – ( I like everything )
Ryan O´Shaughnessy – ( I like everything )

Emperor Cesar, my Austrian champion! XD
Yes, I add a little, but I had a real crush on his song, it’s my favorite among all this year. I feel a little lonely to think, but I don’t care. And then this man is devilishly attractive, which does not spoil anything.
Even if I support my country (France) with all my energy, I would be super happy if it ‘s “Nobody but you” who wins the contest. And Austria, it’s not far from France to go to party! XD

“Why is everyone all of a sudden praising Albania?” Maybe due to three excellent emotional and note perfect live performances?

I’ve noticed some Eurovision fans complaining that this is a very male orientated year but there are far more female soloists than male soloists it seems. There are only 14 male soloists out of 43 entries with a further 6 coming from groups. That’s only 20 out of 43. Also, some people are saying there are way too many male ballads this year… There are only 7 (Ireland, Iceland, Armenia, Montenegro, Georgia, Albania, Germany) when there are 8 up-beat female songs (Finland, Switzerland, Macedonia, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Slovenia, Malta, Australia, Israel). I think it’s quite even so people shouldn’t really be… Read more »

Waylon, Eugent Bushpepa, Micheal Schulte and Alekseev get my vote. These are the dark horses in my own opinion. They might not win but i hoping for a very good result for these amazing artists.

1. Ryan O´Shaughnessy – the overall package of this song works for me and I wouldn’t change anything if I could. So so sweet yet so underrated 2. Benjamin Ingrosso – this is so in your face sexy and the loungey retro feel – Sweden didn’t dissapoint. hopefully slightly less robotic in Lisabon tho 3. Alekseev – Diggin’ the slight psycho vibe!! He kind of looks tense when he preforms and the awkward hand movement needs to go 4. Rasmussen – kinda outdated but at the same time fresh! gave me goosebumps before. oh and great voice 5. Waylon –… Read more »

I’ve voted also for Waylon, but Eugent is my obvious answer here. The best performer, male or female, of this Eurovision. Cesár and Melóvin would fight for the my bronze medal. I love Sevak’s voice and I think Ari has a lot of potential.

The Albanian guy has an outstanding vocal range. But overally speaking concerning performing . I would say Melovin. This dude combines uniqueness , challenging style , great live vocals , theatrical performing and energy on stage. He can captivate you for sure. If only he had a bomb song. He would win this.

Kirsten Melovin has got a challenging look & personality. Not many people appreciate so. Its ok if someone does not like him or his song. But oh common betting on someone’s failure and looking down on them – focusing on their negatives. Oh thats a sad thing humans do

Trying to treat this poll seriously, considering all of these performers are excellent:
Best natural voice: Sevak (Armenia)
Most awesome vocal range: Eugent (Albania)
Best all-round musician: Alexander Rybak (Norway)
Best falsetto voice: Ryan (Ireland) OR Benjamin (Sweden)
Most criminally underrated: Ari (Iceland)
Best deep voice: None of the above. All high singers this year.

Offcourse. A majority of who listened at Francesco first time wasn’t inflences by the hype around the song. Same thing whith Netta. It’s a good song, but it won’t win.

Based on live performances i’ve seen Eugent,Waylon,Melovin and Cesar are the best singers and have best stage presence (which is impressive for teenboy like Melovin)
Mikolas on big stage looks lost and his backpack is silly, Benjamin is good performer but his voice is nothing special….

Salvador’s song had this evergreen quality to it. Mall sounds like you can hear it in… a mall. In 2007. But I love the guy’s personality so I’m sad his song isn’t better.
