Her official video for Eurovision 2018 is filled with stunning imagery, striking close-ups and plenty of atmosphere. And on Wednesday Croatia’s Franka kept the beauty coming with the release of an acoustic video for “Crazy”.

Entitled “Crazy (Midnight session)”, the video sees Franka nail the off-duty model look, wearing a black top with billowing sleeves and a pair of easy-does-it jeans. Gorgeous sepia tones add a softness to the video, which channels old world class thanks to the instrumental.

Franka filmed the Midnight session with two backing vocalists — Martina Ivankovic and Djordjia Palic — and with Branimir Mihaljevic, the song’s co-author, on bass. Branimir’s son Marko played the guitar along with Ante Gelo, who lent his basement studio to the team for the shoot. Tonka Javorovic adds even more magic on her cello.

“It was so much fun recording the acoustic, jazzy version of ‘Crazy’ with such talented musicians,” Franka tells wiwibloggs.

“We were jamming until 2 in the morning to get this kind of a misty, blues bar vibe. I love mixing up styles, and usually the best things come from improvising! That’s exactly what we did that night.”

Franka teased the acoustic on Tuesday evening with this colourful shot that captures the spirit of the evening.

Of course, it’s not the first time Franka has displayed that beautiful voice in recent weeks.

Last week the songstress performed a stripped back version of Marco Mengoni’s “L’essenziale” — Italy’s Eurovision 2013 entry.

The simple number won over Europe, securing Italy a third top ten finish in as many years. And we suspect Franka may have been amongst those who picked up their phones and voted for him.

“My favourite Eurovision song of all time that holds a special place in my heart and always seems to get me right back on track,” she writes on Facebook.

“I remember watching Marco’s performance with my dad and how we were both blown away and inspired by his elegance and an interpretation both bold, powerful and simple at the same time. In that moment I knew – if I ever had the chance to stand on that Eurovision stage, that would be the way I would do it.”

Soon she’ll have her chance.

Better and more relevant by a mile (does that really make the song ITSELF better? Not really, but it was nice just to see her oddly own the mood more AND not have to struggle with the high note at the end) — the damage to her chances has probably already been done BUT if they take this version, she just might pull a surprise on the night — it’s more memorable!

One can see that she is really feeling it. No Nordic singer would be able to have this much feeling
