Vive La France! Madame Monsieur, who will represent France at Eurovision 2018, have entered the top 5 of the betting odds for the first time.

The dynamic duo have spent the past month promoting their track “Mercy” around Europe and the promotion appears to have paid off.

On April 14, their odds were as a high as 25/1 at some bookmakers. They’ve now been slashed and France can be found as low as 9/1 at Bet365.

France’s elevation has come at Estonia‘s expense. Despite Elina Nechayeva’s dress distress resolving itself, Estonia has failed to rally at bookies and slipped out of the top five. After her Eesti Laul win, Elina peaked at second in the odds, but she’s slipped back since. Estonia can now be found as high as 13/1 at SportingBet.

Australia‘s assault on the top 3 also appears to have stalled for the time being. SkyBet had Jessica Mauboy as low as 6/1, but she’s fallen back. Several bookmakers list Australia at 8/1.

Israel, Bulgaria and Czech Republic remain unchanged at the top. Netta has been the consistent favourite and remains way out in front. Her odds are as low as 6/4 at bookmakers including William Hill.

Bulgaria trail with lowest odds at 11/2. Czech Republic’s Mikolas Josef is further back with 6/1 at BetVictor his best odds.

FULL EUROVISION 2018 ODDS TO WIN ACCURATE AS OF 13:43GMT:

The next major change in markets should come on Sunday once rehearsals get underway. They’ll give the first indication of how performances will look and acts will sound in the live shows.

Some acts will be damaged by adverse reactions to rehearsals, others will elevate off the back of positive reactions. First rehearsals on Sunday will also involve the first half of acts in Semi-Final 1 including Israel, Bulgaria and Czech Republic.

The most movement will come during Eurovision week itself. Last year’s winner Salvador Sobral gained real momentum after his semi-final performance.

Fastest way to become a millionaire: Be a billionaire and start betting on Netta! – negative lyrics (imagine the reactions if someone made a song that had the message that girls are stupid) – doesn’t connect with live audience – no melody – song is accusing, pointing. But let who is without sin throw the first rock Netta! – Netta sings that she looks so beautiful. And when people respond with “well Netta, now you mention it yourself, you actually don’t match what is generally to be considered beautiful in 21st century Europa that much”, people freak out. – a… Read more »

Im surprised Germany isn’t doing any better. So far every live performance Michael has managed to convey the emotion that goes with the loss of a near one. I feel it should be higher up in the ranking than it is right now.
Eurovision always is an emotional rollercoaster but his is very sincere. I hope he’ll end up higher for it than currently in the polls.

Guess these aren’t the best years for Germany (and UK for that matter..)

I know what you mean about selling buffonery, like some UK politicians do (cough). But I have actually met Angus twice in real life, and he has been lovely to me. Have you met either of them?

There’s a difference between acting on camera and real-life behaviour. Which one was Benjamin’s?

As for Benjamin Ingrosso, I have seen him perform, but I didn’t actually meet him directly.

We all judge as we please and by what we see, and choose to see. People who put themselves in the spotlight- artists or bloggers- signed up for this, they can also change and grow through this. If you’re willing to vouch for someone I suppose you are making an informed decision that meets your criteria.

so apart from Macedonia is not that bad? Plus it does not look like he is serious!
I repeat myself: Thinking it matters more than it does is wrong. Outside the Wiiwisphere no one cares. Hell, probabbly not even half of the wiwisphere cares about it. The casual viewer voting won’t care about it. The juries won’t care. Benjy´s career won’t care about it. You fool yourself if you think people care about ESC in that manner

France is very close now to the Czech Republic. Indeed, this is a very similar pattern than Portugal’s last year, although the climb up began a bit earlier. That is not to say that France will actually win it, but would be very happy if they did. But would also be happy for Bulgaria and Israel and Czech, as they have never won it.

The main problem with France every year is overeating their entry. This happens cuz people want Eurovision to go to Paris , who doesn’t want that right? Well the reality is that there are a lot better and more deserving songs and I can only see France between 10-15 place this year , nothing more , nothing less.

Hum… The song is humanitarian yes but I don’t see any calculation like you seem to imply by saying things like “making the most it”… it’s kind of a really dark world you seem to live in (no harm intended 🙂 ) … Not everything is calculated and I think MM will do what they believe should be done for the sake of Mercy and her mother, not just to win a song contest( as great is ESC). The song is actually catchy and really pleasant on first listen and I think people will vote for it because of that… Read more »

I guess we can cross off Sweden now. Benjamin Ingrosso reacted to his fellow contestants and not in a good way. He said so rude comments. Wiwiblogg took it down, but you can see one of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XzpO0kid_4
Also have seen people sying that he is so rude in real life. Actually can’t believe how disrespectful he is.

Omg. Stop taking offence so easily from nothing. He was asked to show his reaction, should he lie or praise everyone all the time or what? I respect more people who doesn’t act fake and blandish everyone. It was fun to watch, better than Poland’s guy video. In my mind he didn’t disrespect anyone. Everybody has the right to react and you can’t try to be liked by everyone or you’re just plain.

I mean c’mon. Saying that the drummer is taken from the streets (Macedonia), San Marino has low budget entry and were only 10 people in the audience, taking off the headphones immediately when the Hungary’s song was on, and overall commenting on persons looks is just immature. It’s okay to say if you don’t like the song or whatever, but mocking them is so unprofessional. He’s same age as me and jesus christ at this age you should have some common sense to know how to behave. Honest or not but this just revealed how he really is.

So? When I watched FYROM I also thought the drummer was funny and playing the same way no matter how the rhythm goes… And San Marino’s stage looks low-budget and it seems like a small audience compared to others…. Like, what did he say wrong? He made joke out of those funny things. And he didn’t mean it badly. I believe most of the people from time to time comment others’ appearance, are we all immature? Well those so-called jokes came in a bad way. The difference is that he’s a contestant, someone who is representing a country, not some anonymous commentator behind the screens. It’s not the bad comments he said about the artists (though it is damaging for his public image), it’s the way he reacted. He enjoyed being mean and it kind of gave me hard feelings for his identity as an artist. Benjamin, I liked your song but that’s not a great way to promote yourself. 🙂

Denis, I understand what you’re saying about divas, there’s indeed some racial discrimination over the matter and if we’re talking truthfully, some people who are now opposite to Ingrosso’s reaction would love a “diva” (man or a woman) to say the exact same words. That’s not right, indeed. But just because some people enjoy a bad behavior, that doesn’t make that bad behavior good, and just because some people enjoy another bad behavior, that doesn’t make Ingrosso’s reaction fine.

I think France has a very contemporary and good song. It was my early favorite! But I’m not sure if it actually deserves to win even though I think the chances might be good (depends on how it connects with the audience on the big night). I can see it doing really well with the jury but if the message doesn’t reach the televoters then it might not do that well with them. Odds are pretty meaningless right now. It looks clear that the buzz over Israel is finally died down. It’s quite clear Israel IS the Gabbani of this year, and I am not even sure it will qualify. As for France – the buzz keeps on growing with the help of a very careful and well timed PR attack just 2 weeks before rehearsals – perfect timing. Very clever. Now, that all the attention is on France, all they have to do is come and collect the first prize. Very easy job. I bet they will be nicely placed between 15-25 in the running order. You don’t know anything… in an interview MM said that they knew where she was but actually would have prefered her to stay away from media pressure… you must be very bitter to think people can use a child just to win a song contest… people like you are pathetic…

The biggest reason France has been rising in the odds is not just the story of Mercy being found, but the reaction they’ve been getting on the pre-party circuit. Madame Monsieur have been getting tons of positive feedback from the consistency of their performances (even with SuRie stepping in for Émilie in Amsterdam), in Madrid they literally got the biggest reception of any act at that event. So while I believe the hype around Netta peaked way too early, Madame Monsieur’s momentum has been growing at a steady pace and if they carry that momentum through rehearsals and into the… Read more »

They only had to do a little spanish version and of course they’ve worked, believe me the crowd there. ESC is a much bigger thing than a Spanish good humoured crowd.

There aren’t everyone in Europe who knows what this song means and sometimes it can be judicious to sing in another languages and to say the reality

A little bit yeah… And you didn’t understand apparently… I said they had nothing to do with the fact it got out. It’s a journalist of France Inter who found her.
Well anyway please stop with that cynism it’s just a song contest, France doesn’t even take it seriously unfortunately 🙁 ( I’m French and only 10% of us followed our national selection ) so saying it is a scheme is just yeah… pathetic here we go again haha xD

I honestly think that 3 countries are currently underrated by the bookies… things will change after the first rehearsals though so I’m not too worried. These are Cyprus, Malta and Hungary. All three will have such a strong stage presence that I can’t see them staying in the semis’.

I cannot wait for the rehearsals!! So happy for MM, I have a good feeling it will do really well. Surely the best score for France since Amir and perhaps even better, fingers crossed!
Well deserved in any case… Catchy and meaningful song <3

Can’t wait for the rehearsals, until then we can’t say who’s gonna win, but I’m sure France has the biggest chance, the second country is Estonia and than Bulgaria.

France, Bulgaria and Estonia is going to be lit this year. I have a feeling that Czech Republic , Australia and Norway is going to fall down at the table, they are too high right now IMO

Agree! Czech Republic and Australia will finish in top 10, but not in top 5. While Norway – I’m not even sure it will qualify, yeah he has a lot of fans, but I’m nit sure if those fans are outside Eurovision bubble as well.
