In celebration of the Commonwealth Games — the Olympics-style sporting event for Commonwealth members — we asked you to vote for your favourite Eurovision 2018 entry from the Commonwealth of Nations (formerly the British Commonwealth).

Just like the Games, the poll has come to a close too. And Cyprus’ Eleni Foureira has burned her way up the leaderboard, with “Fuego” securing almost half of all the 3,888 votes counted.

1. Cyprus – Eleni Foureira “Fuego”

Eleni is on fire and she ain’t cooling down, scoring 49% or 1,911 of all votes. Her feather boa and sultry dance moves clearly left many readers’ wigs snatched.

She recently quelled rumours that the song may be too much of a vocal challenge for her, showcasing her effortless vocals in a stripped back version of the song. The Wiwi Jury felt your vibes, scoring Eleni an average of 7.61.

2.  Australia – Jessica Mauboy  “We Got Love”

Australia may have dominated the medal tally at the Commonwealth Games this year, but Jessica Mauboy did reach a very respectable silver medal placing in our poll. She scored 27% or 1,054 of all votes.

Australia sits comfortably in the bookmakers’ top five to win the contest this year, with her flawless vocals and effervescent personality making waves across Europe’s pre-parties.

3. Malta – Christabelle “Taboo”

Not only is she breaking down taboos through her song, but 515 of you have, too, laid down your guard and voted for Christabelle. The Maltese muse picked up 13% of all votes. Time will tell whether Malta will break through their semi to achieve a placing in the grand final.

4. United Kingdom – SuRie “Storm”

The United Kingdom — the founding member of the Commonwealth — has been surpassed by its competitors in our poll. SuRie managed to get 408 votes (10% of all votes). Some of you are loving her storm and feeling her drizzle.

SuRie, ever the professional, filled in as the Madame in France’s Madame Monsieur for one night only at Eurovision in Concert. And we loved it.

WHICH EUROVISION 2018 ENTRY FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF NATIONS MEMBER STATES IS THE BEST?

  1. Cyprus: Eleni Foureira – “Fuego” 49% (1,911 votes)
  2. Australia: Jessica Mauboy – “We Got Love” 27% (1,054 votes)
  3. Malta: Christabelle – “Taboo” 13% (515 votes)
  4. United Kingdom: SuRie – “Storm” 10% (408 votes)

Total Votes: 3,888

What do you think of the poll results? Who is your favourite? Which of the three other Commonwealth member states will join the United Kingdom in the final? Let us know in the comments below.

I think this one was in the spirit of the Commonwealth Games.
But indeed, it doesn’t reveal very much.
