ieva zasimauskaite lithuania first rehearsal eurovision 2018

Romance has a name — and it’s Ieva Zasimauskaite! The simple stage works very well with Lithuania’s simple song. Soft but dramatic lighting, as at the Lithuanian final, puts Ieva in a world of her own, letting her mystical voice take centre stage. She starts the performance on the floor — as she did in the national final — and gently guides us through her song. Towards the end of the song she walks on one of the stage bridges as the lighting grows more dramatic. It shows just how enormous the stage is as she appears to be walking toward heaven. And then a vision: her husband literally walks toward her and they rub noses.

Ieva also tested on-screen graphics which depict babies, a young couple and an elderly couple. For now those images are generic cut-outs, but they will no doubt transform into something more spectacular during her second rehearsal.

For me Lithuania has the most boring song this year… yes, it is sweet, but maybe too sweet and it s annoying.

Simple staging. I liked they used this bridge. Nothing special.

The only right stage for every edition of Eurovision from 2019 (only this will create a masterpiece from every crap): The floor will be a square. On the left and on the right side, somewhere from the center of both sides of the floor, there will be legs of a fairly large diamond-shaped runway. At the front there will also be a straight leg, which will be the third way to the spire of this diamond-shaped run. For example, the vocalist will be able to go forward, and the rest of the team will be able to go both sides.… Read more »

This is soo sweet. The kind of lovey dovey cheesy song that just works. I think that this is better than spains song to me. The spanish song is more polished but this feels more original.

That’s not true and you know it. And please stop using a Spanish name if you are not Spanish. Good luck Lithuania!

I’m from Spain and I’m perfectly fine with Ieva channeling her “national final Almaia” vibes on stage. I hope she qualifies and if she does better than my country or even wins, she has my congratulations.

Although it’s fun to read some in here now jumping on her wagon, the same were thrashing spanish concept which has been like this from the very origins. Maybe you’ll get surprised and see something slightly different from Spain this time.

Cheers

I totally agree. I didnt understand why people were so hard with Alfred and Amaia…. and now everybody praises the very same concept and staging from Lithuania, which I actually adooore. Anyway, even if Spain comes last as a result of this hate, next year we will continue trying to share our music with the rest of Europe.

I never liked this. The song is too slow even for eurovision. :((((

Spanish fake love couple is in trouble (made for win OT, Euroivsion national final and Eurovision) , because Lithuania sell true love.

Both Spain and Lithuania are beautiful songs. You can add Portugal too. The three of them are authentic intimate personal ballads and this has great added value compared to empty ones with meaningless lyrics.

Mind my words: this is the absolute dark horse of this year’s Eurovision and it may win the whole thing.

Bookmarked. It’s a cute song and it deserves the final more than Spain but I get why not many people think it can do well.

I was wondering who would be the first to use the bridge! The contrast between this act and Czechia and Israel can actually help Lithuania a lot, especially if the frontrunners fail to impress. But Padraig has a point, Ireland possibly will fight for the same votes, so let’s see how they will rehearsal.

Is it possible that she’s using her husband as a prop? I don’t wanna sound rude, but it looks they’re going for the Vaidas and Monyka kiss’ hype that eventually made them qualify in 2015 but, anyway, kudos to Ieva, having your husband right next to you in such a big moment as performing in the ESC is a feeling not many people can enjoy. This could be the borderline qualifier, but I’ll stick with Albania for now.

I didn’t compared them, it’s just that based on their qualification possibilites, those two seem to be fighting for the borderline qualifier, alongside Armenia and FYR Macedonia.

Albanian what now? Lithuania outsold, outstreamed, outvocaled. We can’t wait to see Ieva in the final.

I like that she’s standing there on the bridge, it seems like it’s adding to the song’s narrative structure. So, well done.

Wait a minute! I like the song and the staging, but where have I seen a similar scene before with a couple standing so close? Should not copy other contestants…

Whoever it was, they didn’t INVENT standing close to each other. You’re reaching. Ieva didn’t copy anyone, she did this in the national final as well.

Potentially a top 5… I really think it will stand out. Her vocals are incredible and this song really brings out some kind of magic that nobody can name… Its’ atmosphere is breathtaking and I really think this has the chance to touch a lot of people in the Semi Final.

so sick of her boring love life and hubby’s wife attitudes…somebody has to say her the most important thing in life is not love or her husband. there are much much more priorities in life… i don’t like those i found my soulmate and i can’t think a life withouth him,her kind of things.

There is another thing ive seen lately. All Lithuanians i know(i work with an lith company)are living just for marriage. their biggest goal in life is getting married. and they get married very early ages. this is not one or two i mean alllithuanians i know are so keen on marriage dreaming about it i don’t know why and can’t see its rational

I am from Latvia and have lots of Lithuanian friends. Thats what you said is true and in Latvia it is known as well by Latvians. For Lithuanians marriage is very important. A girl grows up with dream of being a bride and they don’t wait getting ages to marry. Divorces are common too. I hope i could help.

The song is boring but the live performance upgrades this.
It’s simplistic yet very powerful and emotional. Ieva does a nice job.

I won’t bother if Lithuania doesn’t qualify.

Queen. Better than the two trash songs next to her!!! Those songs will only make her stand out more. There’s also a commercial break after her performance which will definitely help.

Seriously, what do they know about anything? Suzanne’s make up and Robyn’s hair are hideous… don’t expect them have taste on staging.
