Ten acts strutted their stuff for the first time in Lisbon on day one of rehearsals. Israel’s Netta brought her maneki-nekos. Belarus’ Alekseev was bleeding roses, and Czech Republic’s Mikolas Josef showed off his acrobatics before being sent to hospital.
We asked you who was your best first rehearsal on day one of rehearsals. After 9,712 votes were cast in total, Estonia’s Elina Nechayeva took out the top prize with the top note. She took nearly 18% of total votes, with 1,736 votes.
Estonia finally said yes to the dress, and were able to bring Elina’s amazing “not-dress skirt” (according to her) despite all the drama leading up to the contest. And it paid off. Showing off an awe-inspiring light show and knocking out some brutally high notes, y’all voted the Estonian operatic siren as your favourite on day one.
Albania’s Eugent Bushpepa was also a fan favourite of readers, winning silver place on our poll with 15.7%, or 1,521 of the total votes. Eugent showed off his powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence early on in rehearsals, flooring us with his entry “Mall”.
Rounding out the top three is common framework Equinox from Bulgaria. They brought dark staging and moody lighting for their song “Bones”. Even though their staging was dark, their chemistry was shining clear, winning 14.4% or 1,401 of total votes.
