They’re the ‘common framework’ now moving in a common direction. And the only way is up.
Less than a week after their Eurovision grand final berth, which saw them place 14th, Bulgaria’s entry Equinox have announced that they have signed with Universal Music Group.
The group broke the news on Instagram and Twitter, hinting that there are ‘new exciting projects underway’.
The brainchild of Eurovision powerhouse Borislav Milanov (who was behind Bulgaria’s 2016 and 2017 entries), Equinox consists of three Bulgarians (Zhana Bergendorff, Vlado Mihailov and Georgi Simeonov) and two Americans (Johnny Manuel and Trey Campbell).
Even though they only formed late last year, the fivesome have made it clear they are in it for the long haul. Their chemistry and harmony was instantaneous when wiwiblogger William interviewed them at the London Eurovision Party.
While it remains a mystery what ‘projects’ Equinox will undertake as part of Universal Music Group, the group exposed other sides of their musicality beyond the “Bones”, treating fans to covers of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Jessie J’s “Who You Are” in London.
Their recent announcement remains cryptic as to whether the lineup of singers will remain the same for Equinox. The group recently welcomed 2017 Bulgarian representative Kristian Kostov as a ‘new member’ (for one night) at Eurovision In Concert in Amsterdam as Johnny had a prior commitment in the United States. Whether the group will retain its original members remains to be seen.
Equinox are not the only 2018 Eurovision entrant to sign a music deal in recent months. Mikolas Josef, who achieved the Czech Republic’s best result at Eurovision (placing 6th in the grand final), announced shortly before the contest that he had signed with Sony Music and RCA Records.
Are you excited to your bones that Equinox will continue to exist? What kind of music would you like to see the quintet create? Let us know in the comments below.

They don’t blend together too well visually
And they sound like a boring choir. Didn’t like it at all
I think they will soon disband soon anyway
They were LITERALLY blended together lol.
They will continue to exist – but will they get more well written songs like “bones”?
The main problem with Bones for me is that it’s very repetitive. I don’t think it’s very well-written, but it won that Marcel Besançon award for composition, so who am I to judge?!
Dear Jo – I couldn’t connect to the song and the group either and find it a bit repetative too – it starts interesting though… It is a good enough written song.
That’s not a news as they announced it before the contest. But I’m so happy. As a person who saw them live, i can truly say they are like a family, they love each other. Some people here are talking nonsense. Sending them a lot of love and best of luck.
They are simply not designed to impress and last longer than six months to one year. Those guys will record another single, release it on Spotify, and then disband. As a record producer myself, I had predicted their rating in Eurovision (they were on my 15th place), and I guarantee that they won’t be together until December this year. Such formation just cannot work out in this business.
Mb if you stop typing b.s. from your mother basement and get a real job so even she can stop hating you. See? Wasn’t too hard to predict what you are and where you are. People like you should not have any keyboard of any kind.
…who?
I watched the final again , im so proud with Equinox performance , the-best they ever looked and sounded , we may had the 14th place but that was still the-best entry from Bulgaria to date. Its beyond me how some of the other entries scored better places but still Bones and Hungary entry with AWS were the two best of the night for me. So seeing Equinox with this deal and making more music together is one of the-best news after the post-eurovision depression and who knows? Mb they can represent us again with even better entry next year.
Should have made top 3, so happy to hear they will continue to collab besides the difference in musical taste and genres. This is Eurovision, not a fat girl doing the chicken dance and some hystrionic dancers.
I am honestly so disappointed that this entry did not finish in the top 3. Their performance took me to another world and gave me goosebumps all over. I mean when Zhanna hit those high notes at the end…hello…were the juries deaf?
But was she really hitting that note???
Just one time more watch the final performance. I think it’s the back vocalist.
It was definitely her. Her voice is very distinct and you can’t miss it.
It wasn’t Zhanna, but her backing singer, Mia D
Well, the juries placed Bulgaria 9th, the public however 14th.
LOL it wasnt even zhana singing that last note
Loved their song and individually they sound very good. Staging failed them and their performance was too fabricated. I am happy they won an award for best song, Also looking forward to see their next works and Bulgaria next song
I’m glad to hear Equinox will be staying together. I can’t wait til we hear some new music from them!
Yes! Say Hallelujah!
That is great news! They really sound remarkable together and definitely should produce more music as a common framework. I only hope that they will allow Zhana to dress more casually instead of wrapping her in non-flattering costumes all the time.
I agree about Zhana’s ESC outfit. I totally hated the Sia wig, and the dress looked out of place amongst the more street-like outfits of the guys.
whatever, meh. Borislav always writes the same-y tunes. By the way, ”Bones” sounded too much like ”Skeletons”
Funny that Dihaj also received the 14th place with Skeletons, just like Bones. Whereas I must say that Dihaj had the better stage.
Yeah, funny fact 😀 they both gained the 14th place and they kind of had same vibes. But both songs could’ve placed better..
Both of them placed exceptionally high for such low quality and terrible live performances.
Similar titles too 😛
good for them! Milanov is a genious writer and truly needs to produce more stuff for Equinox. it’s a shame the staging was a let down but good music always finds it’s listener
I thought that this year’s ESC songs would be more successful on itunes, especially Fuego and Toy, but I think I was wrong.
A lot of them having charting on Spotify, actually. From what I recall, Netta manage to entere the Philippines Viral 50 chart at 41.
Well, nowadays more and more people use Spotify, that’s trending now. You can see that in esctracker.com
