They are both popular Swedish singalong TV series that have been going on for years — and they are both on for a new season having just released their schedules earlier this week. Another thing they have in common? They both have strong ties with the ultimate singalong show — Eurovision.

Lotta på Liseberg is Gothenburg-based and takes place in the Liseberg amusement park. It is presented by the Eurovision veteran Lotta Engberg (1987) and celebrates its 10 year anniversary as a TV show this year — and for that occasion they are giving us a proper smörgåsbord of familiar faces.

Among the Eurovision veterans we have Eric Saade (2011), Malena Ernman (2009), Ola Salo (2007 – The Ark) and Jessica Andersson (2003 – Fame). The legendary Lill Lindfors (ESC 1966) will also make an appearance, but she is probably mostly remembered as the host of ESC 1985 held in Gothenburg where she unforgettably “lost” her skirt on stage.

Melodifestivalen is also represented in the show as there are no less than 12 acts that we should be familiar with from the Swedish national final. This year’s NF is represented by finalists Méndez, Renaida, Martin Almgren, John Lundvik, LIAMOO, Mariette, Margaret and Rolandz. Plus Jessica Andersson also was a 2018 finalist, so we could say we are only three acts away from a Melfest final.

The show also includes a few contestants from previous Melodifestivalen shows — like Oscar Zia (2014, 2016), 2017 runner-up Nano, Dolly Style (2014, 2015) and Shirley Clamp (six attempts between 2003 and 2014).

Allsång på Skansen is Stockholm-based and takes place at Skansen, an outdoor museum and zoo located in the center of Sweden’s capital. This will be the third year in a row it will be presented by Sweden’s 2014 representative and second runner-up Sanna Nielsen.

The SVT produced show might not be as packed with familiar names as its Gothenburg-based sister, but there are a few names among the acts that should ring some bells. Here we only have one former Eurovision contestant — Tommy Körberg (1988) — but Melfest has its veterans on the schedule. The most distinguished are probably the skinny-dipping shuffle duo Samir & Viktor (2015, 2016, 2018) and the energetic disco divas of Alcazar (2003, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2014). Former Sweden’s Junior Eurovision representative and three time Melfest contestant (2009, 2012, 2016) Molly Sandén is also on the list along with Margaret and Shirley Clamp who are also to make an appearance at Lotta på Liseberg.

Very excited. Many who I ‘m sure they will do great performances. The artists I’m most excited for is Margaret, Alcazar, Molly Sandén and Chris Kläfford(Idol 2017 winner, amazing singer. For example his version of Imagine.) And maybe many more.

A sing-a-long show? I’m surprised one of the US networks hasn’t tried to “import” this idea. (There used to be “Sing Along With Mitch” back in the 60s) Is it because of the fear the audience might go “off script?”

Reply to  KYLLITO

Benjamin Ingrosso and Felix Sandman were supposed to be doing their duet on one of these shows. I know Benjamin Ingrosso wanted to promote a new song on Allsång but SVT said no. But then Lotta på Liseberg & TV4 said yes. Not sure what happened afterwards.
