alexander rybak mom allsang pa grensen

At Eurovision, he taught us how to write a song. Now, back in Norway, Alexander Rybak is teaching us to love our “Mom” at Allsang på Grensen. The Eurovision 2009 winner performed his new single on the summer concert show last week – joining many other ESC and MGP acts who’ve been on this year’s bill.

“Mom” is a loving song about how much Alexander’s mother and the support she gives means to him. Even when things are looking down for him, “I’ll always have you mom”.

During his performance at Allsang, Alexander performs towards his mother, who’s sat at the front. After he takes a walk through the audience, he eventually comes back to her. They embrace – and give us all the feels!

The lyric video for “Mom”, out a few days ago, also shows lots of old photos of the two together. Alexander also performed his Eurovision 2018 song, “That’s How You Write a Song”, during the show.

But Rybak isn’t the only Eurovision act who’s got in on the Allsang fun this year. Swedish legend Carola appeared on the show at the end of June, teaming up with Ronan Keating for a performance of Boyzone classic, “No Matter What”.

Ronan, of course, also has some Eurovision history of his own. He hosted the 1997 contest, and also co-wrote Brinck’s 2009 entry for Denmark, “Believe Again”.

And what would a summer party be without Las Ketchup? The Spanish group performed their classic “The Ketchup Song”…but unfortunately didn’t reprise their ESC entry, “Bloody Mary”!

Some faces from Melodi Grand Prix past have also popped up on this year’s Allsang. Freddy Kalas — a favourite in 2016 — performed his new track “BlimE” as well as 2016 release, “Jovial”. 2017 entrant Kristian Valen also performed a medley of his songs.

What do you think of the performances? Do you like Alexander Rybak’s new song? Let us know all your thoughts down in the comments section below!

This version is very spring-like, fresh, smart. And everybody in the audience is singing along! This is the spirit of Eurovison guys! We are all together, singing, dancing, having fun! 😀 #MakeLoveNotWar
