At Eurovision 2018 she took Europe by storm with her chicken dance. And earlier this week Netta Barziali‘s winning entry “Toy” topped the Billboard Club Songs chart. So it’s more than appropriate that the song will feature on the 2019 edition of the wildly popular video game Just Dance.
Netta joins some esteemed company. Only two other Eurovision songs have featured on the game: Lena’s 2010 winner “Satellite” and ABBA’s 1974 entry “Waterloo”.
Just Dance is one of the biggest video games out there. First published in 2009, it’s named after Lady Gaga’s well-known hit single. Each year a new version of the game comes out with new dance choreography for users to pop and lock with. It includes some of the most recent hits, along with all-time classics.
The 75-s preview shows some of the easy-to-follow choreography that Eurovision fans all over the globe will soon be able to dance along with. As one would expect, it includes the famous chicken move…and it looks fabulous! The background sees elements from her Eurovision performance as well.
Plug in your system, hit the dance floor and let the party begin!
Are you surprised that “Toy” will be included in the game? Will you be dancing along once Just Dance 2019 is available? Let us know in the comments below!
I don’t like the dance tbh, too simple
Its systematic proof that Eurovision is becoming more and more mainstream and that we all should take it more seriously!
Take the hint United Kingdom
And honestly, I don’t think it’s best for the very well known singers like Ed Sheeran or Adele to enter. I would prefer someone fairly well known, but not on their level of fame. There’s a huge possibility of meeting the same fate Gabbani met. Or since Netta went viral worldwide, they could win too because of fame alone. I don’t know really.
“Just Dance” should also add the song “Line” of the Latvian band Triana Park from the ESC 2017!!! 😉
And not just the chicken moves…look closely at the background as well. There are chickens galore! We may be seeing the birth of chicken rave! (I kid, I kid.)
Wow! Great exposure for Netta and the song. Hope they have a more difficult version for it too, and maybe a group dance (those are hard)
Much love to Netta. Great job 🙂
Great news! Would love to see Fuego as well, especially with Eleni’s choreography.
They already have ‘Fire On The Floor’ by Michelle Delamor (which kinda sounds like Fuego, but slower).
In Ubisoft’s defense, the song is just as good as Fuego… Fire On The Floor, I mean.
yeee i remember satellite was on that game back in the day and someone said that girl won eurovision (ddnt really know what it was) but she had a british accent and singing about toenails 😛 go netta
Lena had what she thought is a British accent. That was actually quite painful to listen to, especially when she was interviewed…
Lena had a better accent than all those horrible east european performers who barely know any English. So lets relax. In Eurovision standards her accent is fantastic.
It still doesn’t make her accent less odd and cringy. there’s wanting to be clear, and there’s wanting to sound British, while not possessing the knowledge of how to it convincingly.
I know how I felt when she was interviewed in the UK, and how real native speaker felt about her accent. it was just bad.
(I wouldn’t have any problem if she actually studied how to speak British English with a professional accent coach, but her accent sounds almost as if she’s mocking the Brits!)
Omfg yessssssss, i love playing just dance with my friends.
Serebro (Russia 2007) and Arash (Azerbaijan 2009) have a song on it too!
(Separately)
Yes Arash with Snoop Dog I believe.
Serebro’s “Mi Mi Mi” is also featured in this game’s songlist but only a cover version of it. It’s not the Eurovision song “Song #1” but it’s close. Also, Italy’s Emma appeared in the game in the past but with the song “Cercavo Amore” instead.
And Bonnie Tyler with Holding out for a hero
Omg yes! That split move!
I’m actually surprised that TOY didn’t hit America earlier. the song was released on March!
Yeah, compare it to despacito that hit the rest of the world a half year after it charted in latin america.
It’s really hard to break through in the US market for Eurovision acts. Remember that there’s barely much exposure of the contest as a whole. And beyond that, most of the buzz is generated by playlists placement on streaming. Get that together and you have a hit on your hands!
That’s so cool. The dancer even looks like Netta a little bit.
Didn’t a guy just yesterday say he wished her Billboard success led to an appearance in Just Dance? Well, wish granted.
I thought exactly the same thing when I read the title, lol. So happy for Netta.
Who me?
Lol!! Congratz
