Julia Samoylova has proven that she is not breaking after missing out on the Eurovision 2018 final. Instead she has continued to write music and has now released her first new track after the contest: “Bez Odezhd” (Nude).
Musically, Julia swerves away from the soft and sugary songs that defined her at Eurovision. While “Flame is Burning” and “I Won’t Break” were delicate and carried positive and empowering messages, her other material — including this one — leans more spiritual and alternative.
Last year’s release of the single “Yad” — meaning “Poison” — already proved that she is much more than a power ballad singer. “Bez Odezhd” goes one step further, as she seems to explore the Russian dance music scene with this track.
Written by Julia herself and her husband and manager Alexey Taran, “Bez Odezhd” — literally, “without clothes” — tells a story about the deep love and connection between two people. One lover asks the other to stay with her, while they dance without clothes and make a bonfire, which is sky-high — just like the first humans on the planet did.
Doing things her way will surely come as a relief. Previously Julia spilled the tea about absolutely disliking her Eurovision track.
“When I heard the mastering of the song, I didn’t like it,” she said. “I could not understand why my voice was so auto-tuned and why the backing vocals were louder than me. And I could do nothing about it. They said to me, ‘Keep calm, everything is good, you just don’t understand’.”
The former Faktor A star had written two compositions herself, but neither of them was considered for entry. We are glad to hear her self-written material is finally coming to light!

What the heck this is actually amazing?!?
We hear how she sang live, in Moscow Eurovison party and then in Eurovision semi final. Both time was crime for ears of humans. And she can sing good only with autotune.

What makes me upset the most is that this song is AMAZING. I would not be surprised if this was one of the somgs that Yulia sent for the broadcaster they rejected.
And what could be the reason for the broadcaster to reject the amazing song? I see no logics, sorry.
She said it herself that the broadcaster rejected her songs. She wrote a bunch with her husband an she confirmed the broadcaster didnt want them.
