Following a crazy successful summer, Saara Aalto has now nabbed the title “Singer of the Year” from the LGBT+ magazine QX Finland. Congratulations, queen!

The last weekend in August may have been the end of summer festivals and parties, but the celebrations continue for Finland’s national sweetheart. In early August Saara announced her nomination for Singer of the Year. But we all had to wait to see if she’d win.

It was an easy decision for fans to recognise Saara as “Singer of the Year”, as she proudly performed at four different Pride events this summer.

Ever the advocate for the LGBT+ community, the beautiful diva performed at Stockholm Europride, London Pride, Cardiff Pride and, of course, Helsinki Pride. Due to her commitment for Cymru Pride in Cardiff she was unable to collect her award. However, she did go on to thank her fans for their support on Instagram.

“So grateful I won the ‘Singer of the Year’ award at the QX Gala in Finland. Thank you so much for voting for me!! Sorry I couldn’t be there as I was performing and sharing love at Cardiff Pride #loveislove”.

This win comes on the back of a fantastic few months. Since reaching the final of Eurovision back in May in Lisbon, the “Monsters” singer has been promoting her new album Wild Wild Wonderland, which peaked at No. 2 on the Finnish Albums Chart, at various events through Europe.

Among the stops was Kew the Music in London, part of Saara’s gig supporting iconic dance group The Steps.

Saara Aalto’s European Tour

Her album Wild Wild Wonderland nods to her struggles about becoming who she really is. Many tracks on the album centre around love and being who you are. Saara herself often uses the hashtag #dontdenyourlove on her social media. That’s also a track on her new album. The album also includes her Eurovision track “Monsters” and her national final songs “Queens” and “Domino”.

In October she’s touring her album through Europe with over 20 dates, kicking off in Scotland’s biggest city Glasgow and finishing up in her homeland of Finland. Meet and greet tickets are available for fans to get up close and personal with the LBGT+ icon.

For more information on tickets please visit www.saaraaalto.com.

Wild Wild Wonderland is available to listen to on Spotify.
