Since re-branding herself as Melyz earlier this year, the Eurovision star formerly known as Mélanie René hasn’t stopped. She teased the hot club track “DanceFloor” back in March and the music video is now out. It arrived during peak Eurovision season so we totally missed it. But now that Switzerland is on the mind courtesy of RSI’s internal selection, we just had to take a look.
“Dancefloor” is a modern EDM summer club banger. It tackles the eccentricity of games of the heart, and the ever-familiar feelings of wanting what you can’t always have. The lyrics allude to seduction without commitment and how we are often scared of looking deeper in ourselves to discover the unknown.
Speaking exclusively to wiwibloggs, Melyz explains:
“‘Dancefloor’ was filmed and directed by Cornland Studio, in ‘Jardin des Cinq Sens’ in Yvoire (France). It is basically a chase in a labyrinth, between a girl and what seems to be the one she wants.”
“I purposely did not want to film a proper dancefloor in a club, as it was mainly a metaphor to describe either life or love. It basically represents the chase after what we want the most, what we often doubt we can have, what seems to constantly slip away. Through life’s chases you can either lose yourself or find yourself.”

This is a right direction for Melyz. ‘Dancefloor’ has more polarizing sound compared to the tame track of Switzerland 2015. I can see her representing Switzerland again as soon as her rebrand matures and she makes even more established tracks. Keep up, Melyz!
