In the aftermath of Eurovision 2018, she decamped to France where she attended a songwriting camp and and further honed her skills as a singer and performer.

And now Sennek has returned home with some new songs and some very big news: she has quit her job at IKEA to focus on her music career. There is officially no way back for the “A Matter of Time” singer.

Sennek revealed the news last week during her appearance on the Flemish TV Show ‘Van Gilst & Gasten’, and got everyone up to speed on her latest movements.

“Two weeks after Eurovision I left to Paris, for 4 months of musical writing. I wrote one song, just one, but it’s a really good one! It was great, we have some really good songs ready. But now I’m looking for a good team to work with and a supercool record label. People can call me now, I’m ready. It was great in France, in a rural area with Maxime, the producer I worked with for Eurovision.”

When presenter Van Gils ask her about her job at IKEA, she paused before breaking the news: “I resigned 2 weeks ago from IKEA. I’m excited, yes, to focus on my music only.”

You can watch the full interview in Dutch.

As soon as Sennek lands a record label, she’ll drop the songs she teased in the interview.

We’ve no doubt that someone will snap her up. Earlier this year Sennek was nominated for a Radio2 Music Trophy in the biggest breakthrough category.

I hope she can find her true success out there, waiting for the new songs.

I still don’t get how someone whose work supposedly was all about creativity and visuals just rolled over and let the Pancake dude ruin her entire Eurovision endeavor. 🙁 Sometimes, it does feel like it’s meant to be broken, but the time to fix that particular problem was over the second Mr. Pancake got hired.

… or the Panacotta dude, in alternative?

That or Greece was the shock non-qualifier. It was so high on my list before the contest, and the staging torpedoed it. Pineapple dude needs another calling and to stop ruining good songs. He struck gold once and that was it.
