The auditions episodes for the 15th series of The X Factor UK have come to an end and now the remaining acts will face the dreaded Six Chair Challenge. And some former Eurovision acts will be there. Last night viewers learned that Brendan Murray and Cezar Ouatu will be among those battling for a seat next weekend.

The new series of The X Factor UK has done away with the Boot Camp stage. In order to speed up the series, the judges instead privately decided which 60 of around 130 auditioning acts would make it to the Six Chair Challenge.

The 60 selected acts were given the good news and then learned which of the four judges would be mentoring their groups. Irish singer Brendan Murray is part of the Boys group and will be mentored by Louis Tomlinson, while the Romanian countertenor Cezar Ouatu is in the Overs group mentored by Ayda Field.

Brendan shared the good news with his fans on social media, saying, “Not only did I get through to the Six Chair Challenge but @Louis_Tomlinson is my mentor! Absolutely over the moon, Six chair lets be having ya!”

It was unclear whether Maltese singer and Junior Eurovision winner Gaia Cauchi has made the Six Chair Challenge. At her audition, Robbie Williams had commented that Gaia’s young age was “a concern” and suggested she should have a go at being in a group.

Gaia wasn’t shown as being part of the line-up of the Girls team. But there is a possibility she could have been standing somewhere in the midst of the very crowded Groups line-up, who learned they will be mentored by Robbie Williams. If Gaia has become part of an X Factor group, she could be following in the successful footsteps of One Direction and Little Mix.

Also making it through to the Six Chair Challenge was the Greek singer Athena Manoukian. She had previously made her mark in the Greek national final for Junior Eurovision 2008. Now it appears she has made an impression on the X Factor judges. She will be competing in the Girls category, mentored by Simon Cowell.

Starting next weekend, Brendan, Cezar, Athena — and possibly Gaia — will face the Six Chair Challenge. They’ll each be hoping that their mentor gives them one of the six seats that ensures they’ll have a place in the Judges Houses round — the final elimination before live shows. Having a seat doesn’t always mean keeping the seat and the process is traditionally full of tension and emotion.

What do you think? Who will make it to Judges Houses? Can any of these former Eurovision acts win the X Factor? Tell us what you think in the comments section below!

Gaia’s audition was painful to listen to… she was out of tune and her vocals were all over the place…

The only reason Gaia was not shown is that they aired the part very late, and she is under age. She is probably still in it on the group section.

So basically, everybody is over the moon about everything. What a sham. Also, now the group of the slightly older young people is just called “The Overs” or “Overs”, as in “Your not 13 anymore so your life is already over, so be extra thankful we get to exploit you in that pathetic reality show?”

I don’t like seeing singers get tossed into a group like that. Like, “yeah, you sound fine by yourself, but you’ll only sound great if there are six other people singing at the same time.” Gaia deserves better.

A manager who couldn’t have done a better job at making him fail at Eurovision.

Louis is his sugar daddy, we all know about Louis and his twink preferences. But yeah, Louis failed for Ireland, he shouldn’t be involved concerning Eurovision, like…never!
