He’s the suave Russian who charmed his way into the hearts of many in Stockholm two years ago. And despite being very busy with his latest album and tour, Sergey Lazarev is keeping his cool.

The song “Шёпотом” (Whispering) was released nearly a year ago as promotion for his latest album “В эпицентре” (V Epitsentre), and it now has a video to accompany to dark, gentle atmosphere.

Sergey Lazarev – Whispering (Official Music Video)

The video is as mystical and sedate as the song. It features plenty of religious imagery, including a confessional, prayer beads, wine, a snake and religious text. Sergey plays opposite a woman who varies from looking nervous in a confessional and looking sullen wearing a veil. She also appears topless, holding a flower and staring blankly at the viewer. Sergey gently caresses the woman, and begins whispering something in her ear. It’s all very mysterious and certainly creates questions about the true inspiration of the song.

Sergey is as poised as ever in the video. When he’s not interacting with the woman, he’s riding a horse and looking sharp in a wide-brimmed hat. It’s an interesting direction for him, but still is true to the Eastern European art-style we love and he looks right at home. And as much as we love his wall-climbing and special effects, it’s nice to see he’s got substance as well as style!

It’s a great time to be a Sergey fan with all the new videos and music — in Russian and English. But the treats aren’t over yet: the Russian Adonis will be touring for the rest of the year! The next leg of his N Tour will begin in Ufa on 11 October. He will also be performing at various places in Germany in March next year. Grab those tickets, y’all! Judging from the promotional pictures, the religious imagery will carry over into the tour. It’ll be very interesting to see how things go in the future for him, but we expect nothing less than spectacular as usual!

I don’t really like the video. The song is ok. But for me THIS one is much better:

I think that if he comes back to Eurovision, he can pull out a Dima Bilan and win the contest
Maybe 2019 with the dream team? 😉

I hope that he won’t come back since he has already got his televote victory. He is well remembered and loved enough, and the 2’nd stupid loss wd be another unneeded wound for him if something.
And what for his new video – I love it))

*sigh* Sergei Sergei… If you had only been born in a country where being gay isn’t considered a sin…

What is your idea? What would have changed for you if Sergey had been born in any other country?
The sad thing is that as soon as it comes to Russian artists the discussion turns to their country but not to their songs. Is Sergey a bad artist for you for the reason of being Russian? Or maybe you are worried about his life in his country?

it’s not considered a sin, ok? before talking about something try and get to know anything about the topic. And btw Sergei’s sexuality has nothing to do with his music so just don’t be stupid and don’t bring it up when it isn’t needed
