Australia, Isaiah, 2 [ELIMINATED]

He was Australia’s youngest Eurovision star so far and gave the country their third Top 10 placing in a row. A year out from charming Europe with his youthful looks and voice, however, Isaiah is now maturing.

His latest single is entitled “Close to Me“. And the main thing of note is that omg Isaiah has a manbun! The Australian teen heartthrob has grown his hair out even more and added a dash of facial hair to the mix. This new look had been unveiled months prior and time will tell if the fans will love it, but it surely has something going for him.

The song also showcases a change in direction from the deep pop tracks he became known for. It’s fun, light and breezy with some modern tropical-inspired beats, and is about apologising to an estranged lover. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, with some strange lyrics like “My head’s a pool of liquor, swimmin’ in it ’til my feelings drown” and lots of “yeahs“. But it’s still the really enjoyable, smooth, high-quality pop that we can expect from Isaiah.

Isaiah – “Close to Me”

Isaiah’s deep voice really suits this mature sound a lot better. He’s an exceptional singer, offering plenty of depth and passion in all his songs, and a lot more of it comes through here. He effortlessly conveys genuineness and passion in a very free and unforced way. And he’s still only 18! This hints at very good things for his musical future.

Isaiah first performed the song in Jakarta, Indonesia, once again showcasing his natural talent for the stage. It hasn’t been announced yet whether he intends to release a whole new album or embark on a tour yet, but we’re hopeful. It would make all that passport information and working out come to good use, after all!

It’s been two years since he charted all across Australia and Europe with his debut single. He’s got a lot to live up to, but Isaiah does seem like a global star waiting to happen.

So what do you think? Do you like Isaiah’s new song? Do you hope for a new album? Let us know below!
