In Lisbon, Denmark served Viking epic realness. Now the saga continues with details of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019. Broadcaster DR has confirmed that the Danish national final will be held in the city of Herning on February 23.

The 49th edition of the popular national final will be held at the Jyske Bank Boxen Arena in the city of Herning.

It’s the fifth time that Herning has hosted DMGP and the third time The Box has been the home of the event. Boxen was where Emmelie de Forest won DMGP before going on to win Eurovision 2013. And most recently, it was where Anja Nissen earned her DMGP victory in 2017.

DR’s entertainment manager, Jan Lagermand Lundme had praise for the venue. He said, “The atmosphere, especially in Boxen in Herning, is absolutely amazing when we are there. You really feel how people want this. So I am sure that those in the hall and in front of the screens at home will have a good and unique experience.”

Tickets for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019 will go on sale this Friday, 26 October.

But while Denmark already has the venue and the date sorted, they still haven’t picked the show hosts. Jan Lagermand Lundme explained, “We are in full swing with the process so I can not say so much. But we are making great effort to find the best host or hosts.”

For the past two years, the show has been hosted by television personality Annette Heick and former Lighthouse X singer Johannes Nymark.

DR accepts entries for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix at any time of year, however entries had to be received by 26 September to be in the running for DMGP 2019.

As with DMGP 2018, contribution producer Mads Enggaard will oversee the selection of the ten finalists. His role is to ensure the songs each have a unique character and that the staging works in harmony with the song and artist. It’s a formula that paid off with Rasmussen’s Viking epic performance of “Higher Ground”.

It is expected that the acts competing in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019 will be revealed in early 2019.

Looks like Boxen is a favourite venue, despite its location. Herning sounds like a level on Sim City, of a boring town you need to make more exciting. Where did they have the NF there before?

Hope they have more than only one really good song to offer . It wasn¨t fun to Watch when majority of songs would fit as fillers in other selections!

When were “fillers” there? Last year? KARUI was great, Ditte was great, Freddy was entertaining, Anna cute and Lasse Meling was hot as hell. I love DMGP! <3

And yet none of them would reach top 10. In 2017 Anja Nissen was the only really good act and she got what, 19th place?
Not to mention 2015-2016 where all of the songs were fillers and the result was expected

It s time to see Simone as the winner of MGP. She participated 3 times in 2010,2013,2016 and all 3 times she finished on 3 rd position in 2013,2016 she was favorite fo won.

Who knows? Maybe 2019 will be the year she breaks the cycle. Let’s hope it’s not a 3-way super final with 2 women going against one another. That is why she lost in 2016, because she split votes with Anja Nissen and the boy group Lighthouse X stole it.

I want to see Nabiha give it a shot.

Please, just have one good song to choose. Just one. That’s all I’m hoping for from Denmark at this point.

Well, the venue is going to be amazing. A new stage design too, I hope?
