It’s fair to say that the start of the Eurovision 2019 season has been a slow burner. No country has yet revealed which song or artist will represent them at the contest.

However, it looks like that could all be about to change. Armenia will reveal who will represent them in Tel Aviv on November 30. Yes, only two days away!

In a short statement on their Facebook page, the broadcaster confirmed the announcement will be made on the late-night talk show Lav Yereko. The show is set to be broadcast at 22:20 local time (19:20 CET).

Notably, the show is co-hosted by none other than Aram MP3, Armenia’s Eurovision 2014 representative. Could he be announcing his own return to the contest?

Armenia’s decision to select their artist internally means we lose another national final from the line-up. Depi Evratesil served at the country’s selection in both 2017 and 2018, albeit in very different formats across the two years.

There’s a chance that the results didn’t exactly justify the cost and time of putting the national final together, however.

In 2017, Artsvik’s “Fly With Me” finished a disappointing 18th in the Grand Final. A year later, Sevak Khanagyan recorded the country’s worst ever result, crashing out of the first semi-final in 15th place.

Another factor in the change may be due to changes at the top of Armenia’s delegation. David Tserunyan has moved up to replace long-time head of delegation Gohar Gasparyan – but will a new leader mean a different vision for Armenia’s act?

The country is still looking to break the top three at Eurovision itself, with Armenian acts finishing 4th on two occasions. In 2008, Sirusho gave us everything with the iconic “Qele Qele”; and again in 2014, with Aram’s “Not Alone”.

What do you think of Armenia’s decision to go internal again? Are you sad to see the end of Depi Evratesil? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

To be honest I’m really happy that Armenia choose to go back to internal selections! Depi evratesil was a rippoff according to me because we all have seen how bad Armenia has been these past years… no longer top in 10, so with internal selections we might climb back up again!

I’ve heard it’s Srbuhi Sargsyan that will be representing Armenia for 2019! She’s absolutely amazing. She was the finalist in the Voice of Ukraine and I’ve heard the song is called “Half a Goddess” and it’s sort of a Ariana Grande meets Dua Lipa genre. Super excited!!

Armenia is one of my favorite countries at Eurovision! Since 2014, their songs have always been in my top ten every year, with 2014, 2016, 2017 being in my top three, and I actually wanted Qami to even win last year! (Although, I am very happy for Netta and she did an amazing job in Lisbon!) Qami was such a powerful song and it is one of the best songs I have ever heard, just in the power expressed in the voice and beauty of the song. I was very sad to not see it qualify, but I look forward… Read more »

Depi Evratesil was never intended to be permanent. Armenia only introduced it after the EBU was threatening to ban them for a year after the flag drama in Stockholm

Those two things have literally no connection to each other at all.

Armenia is probably EBU’s least favorite country in Eurovision. They have already been fined like three times (2009, 2012 and ofc 2016) by EBU! LOL

I’ll bet the EBU invited Australia in order to balance out Molitva’s win in 2007 or something like that too.

I’m actually surprised it took so long for a country to announce their artist in comparison to last year.

Finally! We’ll find out the first participating artist of Tel Aviv 2019, when was the last time the first revealed participant in ESC wasn’t known before December? I know this is the longest wait in my years following euro season but surely at least 15 years? gonna have to do some homework on that but I’m not surprised Depi Evratesil has been scrapped, the selection wasn’t even big in Armenia and although the song selection last time had some interesting songs despite others being meh or filler but the overall show production and sound mixing was woeful and the winner… Read more »

Four years ago we already had one song chosen at this time of the year (FYR Macedonia), so it is really quiet this year. But we are less than a month away for the first competing song (Albania)!

Its garik and sona. Garik is aram’s co host who also co wrote not alone. Hes an established singer in armenia alongside sona rubenyan whos incredible. The fact that this reveal is being announced on lav ereko, i think its garik and sona. If not then hopefully Asmik Shiroyan

I hope they send Kamil Show. It would be amazing to see a country like Armenia being represented by a Drag Queen. But I don’t think they would ever dare to do that.

I second this. Her vocals in Kamil Show’s song was a wonder.

lol the dislikes are funny. Lilit was the backing vocalist in Kamil Show’s song and the dislikers apparently can’t hear the talent there.

Couple years ago Belgium announced first and Armenia made us wait until after the deadline. This year Armenia goes first, would that mean that Belgium is going to be last?
