In recent weeks Cypriot broadcaster CyBC has tantalised us all with hints about their Eurovision 2019 act, song and team.

In between dinner photos and a music video from J.Lo, some of you song contest sleuths figured out that the songwriting team consists of Alex Papaconstantinou, Teddy Sky, Albin Nedler, Kristofer Fogelmark and Viktor Svensson. A-list all the way!

Well today it appears that we have a song title, as CyBC shared the following image to their official Facebook page.

Now some of you might see the word RED and think passion which might lead you to think of “Fuego” — their floor-stomping dance number that climbed all the way to second place in Lisbon.

Well we’re seeing it slightly differently. The “D” is actually a play symbol, suggesting that the song title for Eurovision 2019 is “Replay”.

In our mind, “replay” suggests something urgent and repeatable, something that makes you want to hit play again and again. And naturally that leads us to think of dance, which Alex P and the Cypriot team have proved they are very capable of producing.

So, in short, Cyprus’ Eurovision 2019 song is likely a dance number called “Replay”.

The hype is real

With Bulgaria sitting Eurovision 2019 out, Cyprus has happily taken the reins as the new hype machine at Eurovision.

Their recent clues have revealed a celebrated team bursting with ambition.

One recent clue was a clip of Swedish singer Darin’s 2017 performance of his single “Tvillingen” on Swedish Idol. CYBC wrote “It’s all about that staging… #meetTeamcy” Sharp fans noted that the “Twillingen” performance was choreographed by the Swedish choreographer and production designer Sacha Jean-Baptiste. And we can see a resemblance — the split-screen overlays during the instrumental break remind us of the split-screen effects in Nika Kocharov and the Young Georgian Lolitaz’s performance of “Midnight Gold”.

Sacha Jean-Baptiste  is known for her work on Melodifestivalen and other Swedish television shows, various national finals and of course her work staging numerous Eurovision entries.

While Sacha is often the go-to guru for countries wishing to make an impact with their staging, she has also forged long-term relationships with various delegations. Sacha has done the staging multiple times for Australia, Bulgaria, Georgia and Armenia.

Oh, and let’s not forget Cyprus. SJB brought caged-animal stylings to Minus One’s “Alter Ego” performance in 2016, and in Lisbon she was behind the unforgettable staging for Eleni Fouriera’s “Fuego”.

Are you excited about the song title? Do you think it will fit the widely-rumoured artist Tamta? Or do you think it signals someone else? Let us know down below!

Eleni again? Perhaps another previous participant?:)

I have very low expectations from Cyprus this year taking into consideration the tracks the team of authors has recently released.

and the fact that the lyrics of the chorus are “replay replay replay yeah”

I think most probably they will do it like last year. They released the song title around December and early February they announced the artist.

Oh, yeah, some A Dal contenders already posted their songs at YouTube.

It’s Tamta and she already signed. I’ve been telling you all since June. Vangelis will probably be Cyprus’s entry for 2020.

How do you know that?

I love how everyone’s analysing a jacket. Imagine if it has nothing to do with it and it’s just a generic visual…

Cyprus got second place after a long time, so I understand why they feel so confident about they’re upcoming entry. Anyway I have mixed feelings about this, especially after last year’s Bulgaria’s song; months of hyping and at the end only 14th place. Eurovision needs something new years after years, not only dance songs and not only made just for let people hypes.

They have just updated the caption of the photo and it says “REPLAY,REPLAY,REPLAY YEAH” so probably these are lyrics from the song. Not very poetic but we ll see 😛

But there is brown/red hair on the neck area. Definitely not man.

That’s the light effect lol. Besides Vangelis has long hair too.

If you see his latest Instagram posts his hair is short and can’t reach his neck. But anyway, we will see. Very promising this year

If its indeed Vangelis, then it’s a very good choice and I’d even say much better choice than Tamta. Her live singing isn’t so good, but Vangelis is a good live performer and a good dancer too. I’m sure his ESC performance would be a BOMB.

guys, the there are no lips in this Picture, what the heck are you even talking about? It’s a man, get over it.

I’ll be so disappointed if it ends up sounding whack and dated like Imri Ziv’s song.

VlaD

I am so tired of this “dated” word that has been overused by ESC fans. There is no such thing as “dated” in music.A good song is always a good song.

Polegend Godgarina

Uh yes there definitely is dated music, pop music especially expires real quick and you can’t make a song that sounds like it was produced in 2015 now.

Yes, there is, especially for the infamous “fast food music”.

As an Israeli, I just have to say that Imri didn’t actually have any saying in the song. The song was forced upon him by the broadcaster committee (btw, a recruiting thing in esc, like Aisel this year – powerful singers but committees that want to play extra safe)

Leave the guy alone.

The “lips” is just the right sleeve of the leather jacket. It’s a guy.

I see the lips but I don’t think that means its a woman, it kinda makes me think that it’s definitely a man tbh. It’s a clearly a male and from what I’m hearing it’s likely to be this Vangelis. I’d like to see a male bop from Cyprus!! I love the build up and I hope they slay in Israel!!!!

It will be either Tamta or Vangelis Kaukoriotis. Cyprus is doing amazing at creating so much hype around their entry! Their social media team needs to be promoted, honestly.

Excuse me, but were are the red lips that you all see on the photo? For me, in between the white stripe and the “Replay”-name you can see a bit of the jacket. It is the arm of the leather jacket that is kind of “riffled” XD

This is 100% Tamta’s style!

That’s a Greek singer called Vangelis Kakouriotis. He won this year’s Dancing with the Stars. It would be too risky for Tamta to go to Eurovision after Eleni. Her live singing isn’t as good as Eleni.

I hope for a song much better than “Fuego” , “Tomame” , “In my cabana” and all other trash pop tracks the team of authors has released the last 12 months.

Jk, it’s probably Tamta.

I think that the person on the picture is a woman because, if you look closely, you can see some long hairs on the lef of the jacket. Although I’m not 100% sure.

The singer is Vangelis Kakouriotis. Tamta wouldn’t dare to represent Cyprus after Eleni Foureira’s successful result. Maybe in 2020 we’ll see her.

Is it just me or all those “hints” seem like a very lame and desperate marketing move? Like, why are you trying so hard? Just release a good song with a good video and it will do the job. KAN didn’t do any “hints” and “clues” before releasing “TOY”.

The song will be called “Replay “ from Alex P !
