Russian maestro Philipp Kirkorov has worked with countless Eurovision greats, including Sergey Lazarev and Ani Lorak. So when he gives an act his endorsement for Eurovision, you know the artist has a shot at making it…and making it big.

And now that has fans of Olga Buzova buzzing after Philipp gave Olga a ringing endorsement last night following the Russian National Music Awards, where he picked up two gongs for “Mood Color Blue”.

After the show, Philipp met with journalists in the corridors and they asked him what they thought of the possibility of Olga Buzova representing the country in Israel. He gave a cryptic, and somewhat open-ended answer.

“As you know, Eurovision is such an unpredictable system… Who might represent who — like Dana International, a transgender, represented Israel, a puritan country, and wins. Who thought that a bearded woman from Austria would win?”

“Everyone is possible in this contest — if you are interesting, avant-garde and creative. And Olga Buzova possesses all of these qualities. Then why not? We just have to wish her good luck whenever we choose her. And wait for the results, how Europe votes.”

Whether Olga Buzova would be under his supervision would be the next logical question and while smiling brightly, Kirkorov added: “Let’s first choose her. I am used to moving forward. But why not?”

 Who is Olga Buzova?

Along with many other celebs — including Nikolay Baskov, Timati and Grigory Leps — Russian songstress Olga made a cameo as a check out girl in a supermarket for Philipp’s “Mood Color Blue” music video. The TV host turned singer has previously spoken about her desire to represent Russia at Eurovision.

After a career in television, Olga broke through with her single “Pod zvuki potseluyev” in 2016. Not coming from an artistic background, Olga faced a big backlash about her musical ambitions, but has slowly started to win the acceptance of established acts, such as Philipp Kirkorov.

She’s a popular face and has a large fanbase, with over fourteen million followers on her Instagram account. Her fans are loyal as well, as her Insta Stories were the third most watched in the world in 2017, after Lele Pons and Neymar.

Speculation remains rife that Sergey Lazarev will return to Eurovision in 2019, but could there be a spanner in the works? Could Olga be in serious contention for Tel Aviv, or do you think she might even sing a duet with Sergey? Is Philipp simply being polite? Or is he teeing up this rising star for a shot at Eurovision 2020 or later?

Would you like to Olga Buzova to represent Russia? Or would you rather have someone else to represent the country in Tel-Aviv? Let us know the comments below!

LOL! YES! PLEASE! If you thought Julia’s live wasn’t great, wait to hear the live skills of this one. A true treat. Russia deserves nothing better than that.

With julia’s shaky vocals last years, they’re likely to prioritise that this year to get back into the finals, which by the sounds of it would rule this woman out. Lazarev is a seasoned performer who is tried and tested, and while I don’t think Sergey Lazarev will be back, they’re going to want a reliable and safe option this year, a more established artist than Samoylova and someone with some international appeal too.

She is famous for “other stuff”, not for singing. She can’t sing at all trust me. There’s no way the broadcaster chooses her.

IDK what Russia is going to do in 2019 but I have a strong feeling it will be slick, be the bookmakers fave and finish second or third.

After the first non-qualification this year, they probably want to get back on track.

I don’t think Russians would want her as their representative. She is a tacky, dumb woman who is famous off the back of a stint on a reality show… oh and yeah she can’t even sing!

I’m surprised no one has reported on the rumours regarding Manizha as Russia’s representative!! She appeared on a talk show last week and was asked about it and replied “it’s a big secret”……
