After quite a successful result last year with Ieva Zasimauskaitė, Eurovizijos Atranka 2019 will be looking for another stellar hopeful to represent Lithuania on the Eurovision stage in Israel.

Known as staging the longest running preselection, Lithuania has decided to make Eurovizijos Atranka a little shorter in 2019. It’ll only go for 8 weeks…meaning it still eclipses Sweden’s Melodifestivalen by two weeks. Anyway, LRT confirmed that the grand final will take place on February 23. When the show will start airing is still not confirmed but it should be January 5 if we backdate things.

With applications having closed on December 10th, the filming of Eurovizijos Atranka will start next week. And with that the hosts have been announced. It’s going to be Gabrielė Martirosianaitė and Giedrius Masalskis.

Both of them have already hosted Eurovizijos Atranka — Gabrielė is back after a one-year absence, and Giedrius hosted way back in 2010. This will be their first time ever working together but both Gabrielė and Giedrius are already filled with compliments for the other.

Giedrius is well known in Lithuania for his work as presenter and organizer of radio, television and events. He admires the organization and professionalism of this competition and is happy to return after taking a nine-year break.

Gabrielė represented Lithuania at the Miss World 2008 competition and since then has worked as a TV presenter and model.

The acts who will compete in Eurovizijos Atranka 2019 have not been revealed yet. But as for now two groups confirmed that they will be participating. They are returning act “Twosome” and a new group “MaNNazz”. Other familiar names showing an interest are Monika Marija and Jurgis Brūzga. And lately Monika Marija released a new song which could be her entry to the preselection.

What do you think? Who would you like to see compete in Lithuania’s national final? And are you glad it’s shorter this year? Let us know!

There were actually a couple of decent songs last year. Happy that it is not going to run as long this time. Hopefully, in the future, they can look into getting the artists to perform no more than twice.

“Light On” is super, super, super strong! Sounds like a “sleepy hit”.

Monika Marija was my favorite out of all national final non-winners this year, glad to hear she’s potentially back!

Eurovizijos 2018 had so many good songs that were slept on by the fandom, sure the selection is too dragged out but it’s still getting shorter and I knew Monika Marija would return as I absolutely adored “The Truth” and “Light On” sounds like a slick solid follow-up, her powerful vocals should make it better live! “Hello” by Twosome was clever and quirky so it’s nice to see they’re back. I’m expecting Greta Zazza & Kotryna to return as well but it will be quite hard for Lithuania to follow Ieva with the heartwarming “When We’re Old” that translated so… Read more »

Giedrius didn’t host in 2010. He was a spokesperson in 2011
