Moldova, Men of DoReDos, 2

The country’s last two entries ended in the top 10. And now it’s time for Moldova to start looking for their next Eurovision entry.

The submission process for the 2019 edition of O melodie pentru Europa has now opened and will close at 5pm on January 18, 2019. Those interested in submitting can either hand in a physical copy at the headquarters of the Moldovan national tv station, or send in an application with an MP3 file by email.

But it not just enough to send in a simple MP3 file to make it to the pot. Each submission needs to include few more details.

  • Proof that it hasn’t been published before September 1, 2018
  • Confirmation that it is indeed an original piece written and composed by those who put their name on the paper
  • A written-down version of the lyrics including a translation if they are not in Romanian

The broadcaster also encourages participants to include photos and/or videos of all participants and how they vision the staging of their submissions.

The 2019 edition of O melodie pentru Europa will consist of one semifinal and a final. The semifinal will be held on March 2 and the final the day after on March 3, so there won’t be a lot of time for those who make it out of the semifinal to spruce up the acts or make any changes for the final. You will be able to follow both shows through a live broadcast by Moldova 1.

Are you excited for next year’s O melodi pentru Europa? Are there any acts you would like to see enter? What kind of song would you like to see come from Moldova 2019? Tell us in the comment section below.

I want to add something about brilliant staging. Everybody was asking who is the third girl, and now we know is the dancer in red. But have you noticed where he hide his high heels shoes? It was a hole in the ‘floor’ of their stage. Right in front of middle door, he put he shoes there, and took the other ones. Foukas Evangelinos is great.

I guess it was in the back of the middle door. I’ve said front and I guess is not correct.

Moldova through the years either with the song or staging has brought something interesting. It isn’t always a good something (most of the time it is in my opinion) but you can always count on them to have something unique, wild, etc. so I’m excited to see what Moldova will bring to Eurovision this year:)

I remember that after “My lucky day” was chosen for Moldova, I told myself “they’re not going to qualify two years in à row, lol”, but I wasn’t expecting such a staging like this.

I agree I wasn’t a fan if the song until I saw the staging. It was probably one of my biggest growers of 2018 because of the staging.

You seem to have forgagatten they qualified every year from 2005 to 2013, with only 2008 as an exception. They only started flopping recently, but they’ve been back on top now.
