Last year, Gromee’s non-qualification fiasco proved to Poland that its diaspora will not always have its back at Eurovision. And now fans and musical insiders think that TVP has gotten the message, and learned that it’s better to work with and nurture Eurovision artists so that they can slay at full volume.

A lack of help from TVP has previously been cited as one of the greatest problems for top-flight artists considering a Eurovision run. Polish pop queen Doda has repeatedly emphasised her interest in participating. But she’s also sworn that she’d never do it with TVP’s meek budget.

All of that background leads us to the latest rumour — or, rather, reasonable conjecture. It’s widely thought that Poland will choose its representative internally, rather than staging a national final.

Such a move from Polish Television would not be such a surprise considering the country’s first victory in the most recent ESC-like competition — Junior Eurovision — came from Roksana Węgiel. She, unlike her two predecessors, was chosen internally. The biggest piece of evidence? The President of TVP recently stated publicly that they are considering the option of picking internally.

Krajowe Eliminacje may be out, but it seems that one of its darlings may be in.

Amongst the most likely names we’re seeing shoot out of the rumour mill is Natalia Szroeder, the sweet girl you may remember from Krajowe Eliminacje 2016, where she sang “Lustra” (Mirrors).

Natalia — who’s rumoured to be TVP’s top pick — might not be the biggest Polish star, but she’s known to the public. Nowadays it’s mostly down to her partner Quebonafide, who happens to be a well known-rapper. The media frequently refer to her as Quebo’s girlfriend, which is sad comparing their singing skills and basic talents.

Natalia has an impressive musical background but she didn’t become popular until she released her song “Liber” with a Polish rapper. That opened the door for a big career, and she walked through it. Her music videos always get millions of views and most of her songs are played by most of the commercial radio stations.

But the girl is not desperate for Eurovision. She knows her worth and, as we learned from Fakt‘s inside informer, she’d only agree to represent Poland if TVP meets certain conditions….like being able to put some money on the table for staging.

According to Fakt‘s unnamed source:

Natalia says her participation depends on the song and budget she would get from TVP. Quebo helps her now with getting good producers and musicians, who could create an interesting song. If TVP accepts the song, Natalia is our representative.

TVP seems to have nothing but time. Are the rumours true and is Natalia Poland’s representative? Let us know what you think in the comments.

I’ve been suggesting Natalia Szroeder to represent Poland as early as 2015! a really good talented singer who’s on Polish TV quite a lot, her 2016 entry “Lustra” was good but not amazing, if she is internally selected I hope for a banger or belter.

You made a small mistake here ?
The song in Polish which Natalia recorded (and you mentioned it in the article) is “Wszystkiego na raz” (All at once), and Liber [who also is in real life the husband of Sylwia Grzeszczak- they also recorded an album called Ona i on (he and she) and father of their daughter named Bogna] is the nickname of the rapper she recorded it with ???

And I think I’d have translated that title to ‘Her and Him’, but that’s not important. Album is still in my collection. Might actually listen to it tonight.

NOPE! Sylwia Grzeszczak, please. Doda maybe. Kurski isn’t Pythia. He didn’t handpick Roksana. He’s as useless as his whole political party. Not to belittle Natalia’s talent and abilities but it would be like UK sending Cheryl Cole instead of Adele. Just saying…

She probably has a very good song considering Poland are now number 1 according to the bookies to win ESC2019

It’s December, no song is out yet… These odds are more irrelevant than ever.

She was on a Polish jury in 2015 and put Il Volo last. Haters in 3, 2, 1…

I loved Lustra, so I’d be really happy to see her in Eurovision with a banger.

I guess it could spend the money from the national final on the Eurovision performance instead, maybe some promotion etc.
Think it’s quite a cheap shot to mention the supposed Polish diaspora. They only started doing well from 2014 onwards.

Plus the online vote in JESC was international and you could vote for your own country, so if people just voted for their home country Russia would have won.

O please, the song was super-promoted in Poland and 80% of views on the official YouTube channel were from Poland, there is no chance that it is just that song that was “watched” so many times in other countries too, the difference between Poland and France or Kazakhstan (who were second and third most watched) was ENORMOUS. So there was clearly a big fan base in Poland that made her win. It’s so obvious, please don’t deny it! Not that the song was bad, it was good, but there were countries, SMALL countries (read F.Y.R Macedonia!) that deserved much much… Read more »

Poland’s 2.1 million viewers figure was much higher than Russia’s but slightly lower than Ukraine’s 2.3 million. Yet, Ukraine didn’t win the public vote.

Poland had 420k viewers figure. 2.1 million comes from the rebroadcast just after the jESC finished.

Yeah, she would be a nice choice. Fine vocals and look, but it all comes down to the song and staging. Personally, I think that upbeat or midtempo song would be the best for Eurovision – something like “Parasole” for example. We’ll see.
