No stranger to a singing contest, Kristian Kostov has recently announced that he will be making an appearance on Asian television, participating in the hit Chinese singing competition Singer 2019.

Kristian announced his participation in the region’s highest-rating singing competition on his Instagram, marking his first singing contest since representing Bulgaria at Eurovision in 2017 where he eventually placed runner up.

so now you know…? #singer2019

A post shared by Kristian Kostov (@kristian_kostov_official) on

Singer 2019 will pit Kristian against other major artists from Asia — including Liu Huan, who sang at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and legendary Taiwanese singer Chyi Yu.

The show has previously attracted big-name worldwide talent — British chart-topper Jessie J won the contest last year with covers of Whitney Houston and Prince. Kristian is in good company and will undoubtedly bring his style, grace and killer vocals among this high music pedigree.

While this is Kristian’s first competition since finishing runner-up at Eurovision in 2017, this is not the first time he has performed on Chinese television. He performed during the final of the Miss World 2017 beauty pageant in Sanya, China.

Kristian is also no stranger to singing competitions. He finished as a finalist on the Russian version of The Voice Kids in 2014 and was the runner-up on X Factor Bulgaria in 2016. With all this experience under his belt, the Bulgarian-Russian star is ready to sing and slay, xièxiè.

From Eurovision to the world

And Kristian is not the only Eurovision star to be making moves on a global singing contest. Daneliya Tuleshova — who marked Kazakhstan’s debut in the Junior Eurovision contest last year — will be participating in The World’s Best, a new worldwide talent competition airing in the United States in February. No doubt a worldwide talent competition will continue to drag a couple of Eurovision acts stateside!

Daneliya makes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in the promotion at 53 seconds. But no doubt her powerful vocals will leave the world shook when they hear her.

Will you be watching Kristian Kostov on Singer 2019 or Daneliya Tuleshova on The World’s Best? Which other Eurovision singer would you like to see on a global competition? Let us know in the comments below!

just to mention that Daneliya Tuleshova performed “FUEGO” by Eleni Foureira just 2 days ago – there are 4 snippets online https://vk.com/danelya_golos?z=video-156994603_456239851%2Fa93564ba002ad6b35a%2Fpl_wall_-156994603

The Chinese competition Singer became world famous after the amazing performance of Dimash Kudaibergen in it, who took second place in 2017 and got a multimillion army of fans around the world. He also took part in The World’s Best. Danelia, Dimash and Christian are connected by one country – Kazakhstan. Danelia and Dimash are citizens of Kazakhstan, and Christian is an ethnic Kazakh by mother. This year, Kazakhstan was first admitted to participate in Junior Eurovision, but was not allowed into the main competition, although in Europe, Kazakhstan has a part of the territory that surpasses Germany in size.

The only one who beat Jessie J in an episode was KZ Tandingan from the Philippines who covered Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. I wish she would represent PH in Eurovision Asia ?

The show is great. It’s like weekly a Eurovision with all the fancy camerawork and lighting. Wish the format is adopted in the West. I’m sure lots of celebrities would join it.

Anyway, good luck Kristian!

I’m so happy that Daneliya Tuleshova gets recognition for her flawless voice and appearance. For me, she belongs to “The World’s Best” – because I’ve never heard a 12 year old sing like that with such a grown up voice. You should watch her latest performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xosWO7I4tiE
Doesn’t matter how far she will come in that show – but I think after this show the US-market is wide open for her.

Hopefully he can have some success so that he no longer needs to pay for (or fail to pay for) BTS tickets.

After the success of Jessie J’s join in last season, it was supposed to be Avril Lavinge this year. But due to the conflicts between Chinese government and that of Canada of the Huawei incident, they had to make a change. As a mandarin speaker, I was quite surprised the producer chose him to be the subtitute. but he dose look like a KPOP singer that Asians love. The show is pretty big in China and if you can make it to top 3, you can be sure that you can make a lot of fortune in Chinese market for… Read more »

Even though I think he may get eliminated in the later episodes (but may get the wildcard), he can sure win many people’s heart in China and extend his market!

What about Berklee College? His career is not going where he wanted, or he cares only about money at this point.

The show is not a long term commitment.
