Lithuania kicked off the new year with their national selection marathon “Eurovizijos” dainu konkurso nacionaline atranka (aka Eurovizijos atranka 2019). Last year’s winner Ieva Zasimauskaitė returned to perform her entry “When We’re Old” and six acts qualified to the next round from heat one.

In tonight’s pre-recorded opening show, the first 12 participants sang it out in heat one. The line-up included a mixture of newcomers and returnees including Twosome and Audrius Petrauskas, with the latter now known as Gebrasy.

MaNNazz won the heat with their moody electronic song “Blind Bird”. They will be in the next stage of the competition, alongside Glossarium with “Anyone”,  Twosome with “1000”, Migloko with “Rožės”, Šarūnas Mačiūlis with “Traukinys” and Aldegunda with “I Want Your Love”.

The six qualifiers will go on to compete in the semi-finals, due to be held in February. The remaining acts will compete in further heats to be held later this month.

Eurovizijos atranka 2019 – heat one results

As ever, the voting process remains unchanged from previous years. The overall vote consists of 50% televoting, combined with the other 50% from the panel of national juries.

The six favourites of the televote were also the six overall qualifiers, while Gebrasy and Matas Ligeika had made the jury’s top six, but didn’t have enough public support to reach the next stage.

I’ve heard the songs now and I am very disappointed. Ruta’s Paradox should have been a standout winner, but it was snubbed by both the jury and the public.

I like MaNNazz, interesting voice and sound, but it feels flat. I think it deserved to win the heat, it was the only one that stood out.

I think Latvia are the worst. Lithuania and Spain have some great ones

Agreeee… so sad she didn’t make it! That was the only performance that kept my total attention from the beginning to the end.

Awful heat, the only song that sounds good for me is from Migloko, but sadly the song would be crushed in eurovision, let’s hope the next heat will be better

MaNNazz was definitely the best. I kind of liked Migloko aswell, but I don’t think that song fits eurovision. Overall, this wasn’t a strong heat (what a surprise xd).

Haven’t listened to the other songs, but Blind Bird is really good, wow. This is the type of song I would listen to in my free time.

I watched the whole thing and god was it painful… Dunno if I can make it through all shows, but I’ll try. The hope never dies.

I just wasted 2 hours of my life watching this diabolical heat! MaNNazz were the best and that rock song at the end!
